How interesting - here's hoping that we don't get a load of rubbish like the App store though. And also, let's hope that Nintendo actually allow games to be released on a regular basis, rather than monthly like in Japan. The release date system is going to need flexibility for this to work.
I have to disagree - I am the kind of person that can easily flip when a game gets too hard, but with this game, I never felt that, and instead enjoyed every moment, with only the final world and the missions which rely too heavily on ultra-precise accuracy making me feel even slightly tormented. Plus, the levels are short anyway so when you have to restart, it never really felt that big a deal to me.
@VenomTheEvil: I'll probably end up with it at some point, but it does look like the least appealing Art Style game yet. I myself am really looking forward to the game where you have to roll up the cubes.
Also: what does everyone think of the new name? D-Code - rather than Decode. I think it's worse, and should be reverted back to the old name.
That's terrible - since I plan on purchasing a second DS lite in the future (I'm trading my current one in to get a half price DSi whilst I need the cash). If I only end up with a game that I already own / have owned, then that would be rubbish.
It was bound to happen sooner or later. On the bright side, Nintendo are no doubt gonna end up raking the cash back in with the upcoming DSi.
Over here though, despite rumours of a price increase for the Wii, Game are now stocking the Wii for the usual £180 price with Sonic and the Black Knight! Hmm...
@Wolflink22: They're doing it now because DSi games cost as little as 200 points, so there is more need for cheaper cards since many owners will see 2000 being too many points if they only want a few small treats. @Slangman: You think that's bad - my local Playtime store charges £17.99 for a card, and now that Game's gone, that's all I've got to go on!
Anyways: I just did a Play.com search for Nintendo Points cards, and currently the prices aren't looking good - they're claiming that 1000 points are due to cost £14.99 (£11.99 at Play); 2000 points are due to cost £24.99 (£17.99 at Play) and 3000 points are due to cost £34.99 (£29.99 at Play). Not only does none of the pricing make sense, but it's a LOT higher than usual, so we can only assume that they got it wrong. hmv.com are also selling their points at the same prices, although 1000 cards are £2 cheaper.
For those that want to see the play.com link for themselves, here's a link. ADDED: It appears that they have go it wrong. Hopefully they'll change the pricing soon, but Amazon are currently stocking points at £12.99 for 2000 (listing an RRP of £14.99). They don't have any other cards in stock, but claim that points will be available from the DSi launch.
Nice to see Nintendo recognising the VC-Wii requests, putting out a game to promote a newer version - now where's my Super Mario Kart / Super Smash Bros?
Either way, I still won't get this one, since I wasn't too fond of the NES version.
Also: this is my 1337th post across VCR, WWW and NLife. W00t!
More demo-type things at 200 points each would surely go down well, and get more fans for games that are bound to sell porrly / have sold poorly. Hows about the first three songs from Elite Beat Agents? What about the first world of Big Bang Mini? Hell, hows about a selection of Picross delights aswell? Cheap things are always going to be attractive, so people are more likely to try games out, and in many cases, they will also end up wanting the full thing. If they don't, then at least the developers still get a bit of cash for those that tried.
@Chicken Brutus: I'm sure that most people will be okay with what you decide... as long as it isn't Toki Tori.
This review here was a pleasant surprise, although it has now killed the whole "7/10" thing. I don't know how I'm gonna cope with the lack of Corbie jokes from here onwards. sniffle
As I said the other day though, you guys in NA ain't getting SAMEGAME until we get this.
By "Popular Press", do you simply mean "Daily Mail"? Also, remember that the record stated above was for F-bombs alone, and when you add up the other swears, there will be even more!
SCREW YOU GUYS! We're holding SAMEGAME hostage until you send us this now (like with the MaBoShi for World of Goo situation). If you want SAMEGAME (which I hope you do), then you'd better let us have this next week!
Can't wait to give this a go - it is my most anticipated DSiWare game at the moment Also, the Hatsworth ad was very striking at first, but I can live with it, since it's not on the other pages (such as this one). I'm gonna try it this weekend, and am really looking forward to give it a go!
Oh - and well done for asking about the Pokemon MMOG, WWW! I really want to try it, but I suppose whatever Nnooo make will be pretty good either way. Well, if their future games do what Pop did for the bubble shooting genre, that is.
ZOMG - just had a thought, maybe the inclusion of flash on WiiWare will mean that it will be available to DSiWare developers. If so, that would be ace and allow for a variety of random iPhone-style apps to personalize our DS's. Make it happen, Nintendo!
It'll be nice to see more dev's join in the fun, but as the team behind Super Meat Boy recently said in one of your own interviews, there's only so far that the technology can go. Plus - this is likely to put people off browser based flash mini games. I myself think that this is a move by Nintendo to get more games, innovation and interest in the service - now if only they'd release more than one game a week...
@Bahamut ZERO: We've been through this already - we don't want it because it would be too crowded and it's easier for people to find what they want this way. If anything, they should expand the group to include a new DS website (accompanied with DSi) and make Nintendo Life fully Wii based - or, they could add another Wii website in the style of NLife, and then make Nintendo Life the epicentre of it all.
Yay for WayForward - hopefully this should be a pretty good example of innovative puzzlers working, but the real question on everyone's minds is bound to be "how the hell will this play?!?"
I vaguely remember this on the GameCube edition, but I found the controls really difficult to get used to. I hope the other levels aren't too hard to play, because if they are, I can't see this being 200 points well spent.
I have the full game as well, but - as KS8 said above - I will only be getting this for online functionality after I was disappointed some of the card games didn't have online features. At least Nintendo chose a decent selection of card games for the package though.
It looks awfully small, and the lack of online or multiplayer makes it worse than the WiiWare version, but at least we know EXACTLY what we're going to be getting here.
I have seen more appealing things, but at 200 points, I might as well give it a shot since it looks pretty addicitive.
This game looks fun, but I wouldn't mind shelling out a few extra bucks for the actual Microgame$ cartridge. I can get an extra 199 or so games that way. Remember that the cart won't work on DSi, though.
I can't wait to give this a shot, and the 500 point price really surprised me. Just how good it is remains to be seen, but I'm still really looking forward to it. Also looking forward to Made In Ore so I can create my own minigames
There was quite a bit of movement on the chart this week, which included two slightly resurgent titles in Brain Challenge and TV Show King, both of which jumped up 3 spots after beginning their descent down the Top 20.
You lie! Brain Challenge dropped three spots. I suppose I'll let you off since you must have just been so amazed by it's previous position of number seven
Clearly, then there's nothing special on it's way in future (eg Dreamcast / PlayStation) - although to be fair, it does have the same amount of buttons as the standard classic controller anyway. On a similar note: what was the middle "button" for on the top of the standard classic controller?
@Sebastian: Likin' the screens so far, and I can't wait for first details, but it looks incredibly like LostWinds - from the outdoor scenes to the cave-y bits. Did this game inspire you in any way?
@Party On Dude: since when was a five "crap"? According to the scoring policy (which you obviously haven't read) a five is simply "average" - not crap at all.

Oh - and that reminds me, live podcast stream soon...
Re: Korogashi Puzzle Katamari Comes to DSiWare!
When I saw "Katamari" I was so happy, but then when I realized it wasn't "proper" katamari, I cried. Well... almost.
Re: DSiWare to Become Nintendo's App Store?

Hmmm... I might put a second entry in if I get chance - one of those T-Shirts would be awesome!

Re: Does This Controller Make Me Look Fat?
Hey - McNuggets are now completely Chicken Breast, you know. And I find them to be quite yum.
Re: Phantasy Star Zero Mini Coming to DSiWare
I don't care if I like the game or not - at 200 points, I'm definitely getting it!
Re: ColorZ - New WiiWare Puzzler
At first, I must say that I immediately judged this as shovelware, but on closer inspection of the screenshot, I'd like to see what it has to offer.

Interesting, and no doubt it'll impress the casual's, but I'm not too fussed with it really.
Also - nice work at linking the VCR and NLife accounts with WWW - it now says that I've posted 1320 times o_O
Re: Wii Price Increase to Hit UK?
This isn't good news at all, and the console will likely go down in sales due to the 360's cheaper appeal.
One more thing - what's with comments 1,3 and 5 - they are written by unnamed people :S
Re: Review: XG Blast (DS)
I just reviewed this myself the other day, and must say that it's definitely a decent game to rival Geometry Wars Galaxies, if a touch too difficult.

As for my favourite, well, I’m pretty afraid to say it, but I guess that would be Lost Winds
That explains a lot about the design, then.
Can't wait to give it a go though, although the controls will be interesting to see with the gameplay style.
