And I thought that Eduardo the Samurai Toaster sounded cool...
Oh, and I don't care if Nintendo unveil Super Mario Galaxy 2 for Christmas. I don't care if Nintendo unveil a brand new Zelda epic this Christmas. I don't even care if they unveil a brand new online FPS where your objective is to shoot Slippy the toad in the face... NO MATTER WHAT, THIS IS MY NEW MOST ANTICIPATED GAME. EVER
You can only talk to Friends and Friends of Friends with WiiSpeak per Nintendo guidelines. Because, after all, you don't want all the little children playing this game to hear nasty words.
That's a shame for Australian gamers. I always hate to see it when a good game isn't made available in a certain territory. I hate it when any game isn't available in certain territories, because of what that says about how publishers see the territories, and because it's excluding people from trying it.
Here's the description for the DS version of the game: Exclusive Nintendo DS stylus controls allow you to easily perform the most amazing soccer moves on the Touch Screen A multiplayer mode to face up to 3 friends in heated tournaments (Multi-Card Play) 6 different leagues and 198 teams (national and club) with real players' names thanks to the FIFPro license Experience the atmosphere of 12 great soccer stadiums including Milan, Manchester, and Madrid Manage the team's strategy using the Nintendo DS stylus in real time during the match
So it doesn't sound like much has changed at all, if anything. Either way: it's not like the original cost much more, since Amazon (US) are selling it for $14.99, and Play.com (UK) are selling it for £9.99.
Either way, this game is a bargain, and after a go, I'd highly recommend it. In fact, the only thing wrong with it is the fact that multiplayer requires each person to have the game. Good work, Gameloft!
I find this rather astounding, especially since I recieved an e-mail from Nintendo Customer Service yesterday to tell me that DSiWare games were due to be released on a bi-weekly basis :S
I'm yet to try Adventure Island though, although once I've had my tea I'll certainly give it a shot. I wish that Bit.Trip Beat was out already, though I suppose for Strategy fans (not including myself), Crystal Defenders is another good addition.
Also, yay for having both Adventure Island and Bubble Bobble before NA
Can't wait to give it a try, although I must admit that it's one of my least anticipated WiiWare games from Hudson in a while, but that doesn't mean to say that I don't think it will be good. If we get Bit.Trip with this, I will be amazingly happy.
This is getting slightly boring now with no big titles. I wonder if Bubble Bobble could change the nature of things? Oh, and my first first in a while!
On the bright side, you don't end up with 500 points remaining this way, so if there's nothing else you want to buy on the Wii Shop, you will effectively be saving yourself $5 here.
Also, the guys at 2D Boy don't even sound like they were informed that this was due to happen in their latest blog post.
That's... different. If the system was implemented in the UK as well, then that would be awesome. And also, think about how easy it will be for WiiWare game competitions and whatnot - there will be no need to register other Wii's to gain friend codes. Basically, I really like this idea. Yay.
I guess that explains why so many games are around the 300 blocks mark. What does? The reason that games are around the 300 block mark is because they have a 40mb limit.
Also: Nintendo could at least change the pay to a minimum of 70/30, because that is just too much - especially with Nintendo raking in enough cash as it is.
Dammit. I know that the games aren't bad, but they're milking it WAY too much now, and soon enough the major yearly releases will likely be overshadowed.
I wonder what they're going to do differently from the retail release. Otherwise, I can see the stress tests being more of an annoyance than a test, and I really don't see any reason to buy this.
It's a shame that the date has gone back, because every time I hear something new about the game I want it even more. Let's hope this extra time is worth it.
@Blaze: I can see why you'd put it at the same level as Spyro, but not Croc! Croc was overrated IMO. If the guys made a sequel to Crash Bandicoot Warped, that would be my instant WiiWare favourite.
Hmm... this is both good and bad. Good, because it puts off Shovelware Co. developing for the platform, but bad, because those companies that do try, but fail to succeed, won't get a dime. Some underselling games aren't even that bad, so not getting ANYTHING back is a travesty. You'd think they'd at least get enough to pay off the ESRB and PEGI ratings bills.
This is all a bit "meh". And anyways, I saw the full version at under a fiver in Game the other day (equivalent to around 600 Nintendo Points), so when this reaches the UK, people will effectively be ripped off.
"If you'd rather stick with the Wii Shop you might find this week's releases a bit disappointing. I think Mama should go a bit more hardcore. Hows about Super Smash Mama? Fatal Mama? Resident Mama? Tomb Mama? DISASTER: Day of Mama? No Mama Heroes? O-mam-i? Grand Theft Mama? Mega Mam? Bombermama? Punch Mama!! (actually, no - that just screams "domestic violence!")
The problem is that on the Wii Shop, people probably just looked at the screens and went "pfft". Maybe if the game came to Europe, they might get a few more sales.

@Chicken Brutus: What if we get swine flu on the first of May, and can't make it to our Wii Shop Channel?

Yay. 'Nuff said.
Re: Oh my, LEGO Rock Band!
Wow. That is... just wow. What songs will they include? What would work? It's just... WOW.
They could have at least had the dignity to add it as a DLC update for RB2 - but this...?
Re: Tiger Woods and Grand Slam Tennis Get EU MotionPlus Bundles
Nice! If only this package was for Virtua Tennis 09, which sounds way better IMO.
Re: WiiWare Threshold Is Really About Quality Control

Re: Nintendo’s Stock Drops 7.5%
You know what would help Wii sales? If they upped the price £20 in the UK. Yeah, that oughta do it.
Re: Retail Success Eludes GTA: Chinatown Wars
I think that this will be one of those games that will still sell well over a long time though, so hopefully Rockstar won't have it too hard.

Re: Wii Sports Resort & MotionPlus: Prices and Dates Confirmed
@Starwolf_UK: I'd expect it to cost £15 here, the same as the nunchuck and the classic controller.

When will people learn? Mindless clones only work until six months after the original craze began, hence: this game is about two years late.
