I blame SPOGS' high sales on all the websites reviewing them.
C'mon y'alls, let's not bash the sites for making little blurbs for the games they like. I personally don't agree with them myself, but then again, I don't dwell on them either. Just skip the info if you don't like it.
I have to say though, I would like to see SPOGS get knocked off the list before Star Soldier. We need Hudson's support!
I really enjoy these top 10 lists, and being the annoying one I am, I'd like to suggest to you guys at VC-Reviews that you make another top 10 list that features the games you want to see have a WiiWare sequel. Since WiiWare can revitalize old and "dead" series, I believe that could be a cool list.
Maybe I should somehow post this on WiiWare World. Oh well, there's my opinion.
It seems like it may have some potential, but probably a miss for me. I haven't heard of Reflexive Entertainment, so I don't have the slightest idea how great their games are.
I don't actually think this game looks bad. I dig the music and with 26 songs, that's awesome. The gameplay doesn't look too bad either, though from what I've heard, it seems the more difficult settings are going to be more frustrating than fun since you have to remember moves before your actually do them (I personally think it would be just better to mirror the TV at the same time). Also, although I haven't seen enough of them, the backgrounds seem a little bland. Well, I don't know if I'll get it, but I really hope it does well.
@Rexy Heh, I actually enjoyed Sonic R...just shows how much my nostalgia blinds me. I'd still say Sonic Drift is worse though.
@alxtlvara You're right people should do their research and play the game before they pan it, so I did both, and I'll say Sonic Drift is a bad game now. It may have shined when it came out, but in my opinion, it has not aged well and I'm pretty sure others think the same. As for Sonic Drift's influence, it may have been the first portable racing game, but I wouldn't go as far to say it did any influencing. Like Rexy said, Super Mario Kart already came out to influence the endless onslaught of rip-offs.
Then again, I liked Sonic R despite all of its problems...
@AtTheDriveIn92 No, Sonic for the Master System is like Sonic for the Genesis but for the Master System.
Edit: Jokes aside, it's like Sonic 1, 2, 3 etc. for the Genesis but overall it has the presentation of an 8-bit game. The closest thing I can compare this to is like Super Mario Bros. 3 compared to Super Mario World.
This is a pretty good game for people looking for a Zelda-like adventure. I would argue that the fighting and graphics are even better in this one than in a Link to the Past. The soul system is awesome too. However, crouch attacks suck, platforming sections stink badly, and the sound and music are sadly terrible. A Link to the Past is a better game but Beyond Oasis is worth getting. I have to say, although my first playthrough was only five hours long, this game has a lot more to do in it as far as side quests and such. Replayability is pretty darn good.
If I could give it a score, I'd give it a 22 out of 27 1/2. Yeah, that's a good rating.
I don't see why Pikmin 2 costs so much; it was a Player's Choice title. Heck, and I love Pikmin 2! I don't see why people say it isn't as good as the first.
Edit: Almost forgot to do my usual annoying update. Last year's updates were Shining Force, that one Kirby golf game (who's name I just forgot spontaneously, darn), and Devil's Crush. I almost thought this week's releases would be better than last year's, but gosh, it doesn't seem that way now.
"We studied and analyzed over 15 people’s throwing habits" Wow...how long did that take?
All cruelty aside, I too, hope this game isn't too bad. "Jag" seemed to be really confident in this game and I'd hate to see that confidence shattered. I just wished he used his ability for a different type of game.
Hoo boy, definitely not a release I wanted. It's great to hear SBG4AP might come out next week though (don't even ask me how long it took me to remember how to write SBG4AP- I probably got it wrong anyway).
I'm still not liking this one a week thing. I understand this ain't the VC and it's hard to get two out a week, but hey, I guess I had too high of expectations. I'll just file this comment under "whining."
Edit: I was wrong about SBCG4AP...curse you strade!!!!!!!!
Geez, and I thought the first poster was usually the lucky one. Tone it down people. We don't want anybody to die of guilt.
As for the releases, they're good, but I must admit I was hoping for Star Parodier like a bunch of you. I know this week's releases are good for shmups, but I'd rather spend my money on SP. Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed for next week.
And for random responses: I, personally, will not be getting Wii Music. While I dislike the tax they put on Wii Points Cards, I somehow came upon one that was marked 20% off (needless to say I pounced on it). Sonic Gems Collection is excellent for those who want to play games like Vectorman. And finally, I think the third party support for the Wii is getting substantially better. With games like the Conduit, de Blob, Fatal Frame, and Mad World, things are looking up.
I don't believe this question has been asked yet: How much of the game has been translated to English, if any at all? Or rather, how much of the game is in English? And if neither of those are relevant, does it really matter that none of it is in English?
Although I loved the N64 controller back in the day, I don't think I'd enjoy it now even if it was given a slick retro look. I can't help but feel the N64 controller is a Gamecube controller with a Nunchuck controller shoved in the middle (and right there I single-handedly discovered what Nintendo did with all those extra N64 controllers ).
Then again, I don't have much love for these retro controllers. This Datel one ain't much different.
The loose controls worries me some as does the changes in difficulty. I don't know how I feel about this "collect before you can finish" idea either. I'll keep a closer eye on this one as impressions continue.
E3 always gives me an ulcer when it comes around. I've always enjoyed hearing the innovations, but there is that little voice in my head that always reminds me there's going to be a larger hole in my wallet in the future. The MotionPlus- while cool- is killing my dreams of saving a little money. The announcement of Banjo XBLA doesn't help my cholesterol either. I knew it was coming but gah...
MLE may get a pretty okay review, but sadly I'm turned off by its concept which would make this week's release a disappointment for me... I'm hoping WiiWare will go the way of the VC and provide at least two games a week...
Two games, well, I got my wish. We got a total of three games this week on the Wii Shop Channel and I am pleased with that. I don't believe I shall be getting these games, but hey, I had two choices. Now, Nintendo only has to make sure this two-a-week thing lasts or improves from here. Good week.
I had some extra spending money so I bought Beyond Oasis instead today. Hasn't been a bad choice so far.
Now on to WiiWare World to attack Major League Eating before a review comes up.
@Rexy If we're going to lose a poster's voice like yours, I'll buy SPOGS Racing (or maybe China Warrior) as my own "self-punishment." Keep up the comments whether they be angry or helpful, you are one of the more intelligent voices of these comment boards and I'd rather not lose that.
Although I've stopped myself from posting many times, I'm going to say now there is nothing wrong with arguing about anything. It's one of the things that keeps many people coming back to these pages. The question everyone has to ask themselves before they post is are they trying to move a point forward or are they trying to throw an insult cloaked in gaming words. I've done enough insulting myself, but some of the stuff up here is ridiculous. Read the comments people, don't be uneducated, and for the love of Pete, unless posting relieves you of anger or brings joy to you, do yourself a favor and don't read the posts!
Well, there's my final rant (hopefully) until tomorrow. I think we may get two games for the VC tomorrow and I'm excited.
Oh the humanity! I was hoping for something good this Monday and it appears my hopes have been dashed. There is a chance there might be another release along with Major- oh who am I kidding? Gah, even if this gets a good review I think I'll be too stubborn to get it...
I may not have any of their titles currently, but I'm loving HVS. They look like they're producing good titles and exclusive ones at that. I'm glad there are companies like this.
I was kind of hoping the Wii would get this as an exclusive title. The Wii is a major success, but I can't help feeling that it needs more exclusive third party support.

@ x.SuperMario.x I don't want to go against your logic and I do think we may have been getting too many fighting games recently, but I think your "opponents" are considering beat 'em ups and fighting games two different genres.
I wonder why Star Soldier R consistantly ranks in last place. I could've sworn more people would be drawn to it than games like pOp. Could an extra dollar make all the difference? The question is also when that darn Pokemon game is going to fall a few pegs.
And I totally get you Mr. Cheez; I don't even know how I'm up this late on this site...
I'm a bit turned off by the price, especially since it might have DLC. Although I love the concept of DLC, I rather the actual game be cheap if it is going to offer features that we have to pay extra for.

Personally, money ain't coming from my pockets in waterfalls, so I have to research quite a bit before I make my purchases. I too, will also go for the popular games I used to like rather than the little-known ones because I want to be certain to get a game I'll like. Still, after seeing so many comments about Americans ignoring forgotten gems, I bit the bullet and bought the Alex Kidd on the SMS. To put it simply, I'm not enjoying it too much. Now, you can insult me and say I just don't have any taste in games, or you can accept maybe these forgotten "gems" do not appeal to everybody. Take your pick.
And just for the sake of removing an angry bone in my body, I'm going to say that while you may be annoyed by all this whining, I (if not many others) are getting sick of your condescending attitude towards anyone that has a complaint.
Hmmm... I find a few of these comments quite insulting. Still, I might just save my retorts for next week. It seems our "whining" is driving our faithful forum people from contributing. God forbid they not look at these comments...
Well, here's to an offering of VC games that will please everyone next week. And for the Europeans and Australians, here's to a huge supply of WiiWare games this Friday.
