"Meh" may be an understatement, at least in comparison to the Wii U's launch lineup. But now the Wii U has some good stuff on the horizon, not to mention X, Smash Bros 4, & the next Zelda game are on the way as well. As for tech specs, the Xbox One & PS4 can power the experience to an extent if the developers use the hardware wisely. I think Nintendo should've gone for better tech specs for the Wii U, but it's definitely better than current gen systems. It can certainly power good games, but developers may struggle a little getting their visions to work on the Wii U when porting. The price drop certainly helps justify this though, so I'm all good. I'll probably get a Wii U for X when that comes out.
@ScorpionMG I'm just not that interested in The Wonderful 101 or Pikmin 3 (Pikmin 3 does look good, but not quite worth getting a new console for). I'm not using it as some cheap fanboyish excuse for not getting a console. If there's many exclusives on a console that you aren't interested in enough to get a new console for, why get it? Some people don't like Halo. I think it's a great series, but if you don't care for it, I'm not going to think you're cheap for not wanting an Xbox 360. Same applies to the Wii U.
@Marshi Personally, it's a few must-have games that convince me to get a system. A lot of exclusives that aren't must-haves to me aren't worth getting a system for. I won't get a Wii U until games like X start coming out. Monolith Soft has made excellent games, & X looks like no exception.
Having accounts as said would be nice. My 3DS's analog stick is starting to stick a bit after 2 1/2 years of regular usage. I'm hoping to beat Shin Megami Tensei IV before it gets too bad. Depending on if I repair it / get a new 3DS, there's at least system transfer, but still...
@taffy Exactly. The Wii U is doing bad. You buy consoles for the games. The Wii U can't power the same scale games the PS4 & Xbox One can (it doesn't have to be as good or better than those, but it should compare better than it does). 3rd party devs whose games are too intensive for it can't port them to it even if they want to, & others whose games can run on it usually don't port them to it due to poor sales. The root of the sales issue is the Wii U's sales' dependance on anticipated 1st party games, which aren't out yet or are on my 3DS. As said, anticipated 3rd party games also haven't come out yet, are on another console as well, or won't be coming. That's why I'm not getting a Wii U at the moment: the Wii U-exclusive games I want aren't out yet. For those who criticize me for saying power also matters, it does. It can enable devs to make bigger, better games. Small differences from the competition don't matter, but the Wii U isn't that close. The Wii U can power great games, but 3rd party devs are limited to what they can port, & Nintendo is taking too long to make their games. This leads to a lack of games.
Edit: The gamepad & stuff are also cool, & have lots of potential, but those don't matter as long as there's a lack of games on the system & for that matter, ones that utilize them properly. By the way, I'm not trying to be a hater. I actually like Nintendo & use my 3DS a lot.
I actually agree w/ this. All the interesting Wii U games aren't out yet or are on my Xbox 360 or 3DS. You buy a system for games. The Wii U's tech specs aren't everything, but what the other next-gen systems can do would be hard or impossible to do on the Wii U. In that respect, power matters since it can make big, beautiful impressive worlds. But small differences in power don't matter much to me. In the end, the games are what influences my console purchases. If the Wii U can bring more games like X, I'm fine. 3rd party devs matter too, & I think Nintendo should've made something a bit better in regards to tech specs: look at the Wii. I liked it, but it could've & should've been better. Its games made it fun to play. If Nintendo can't get good games out in time to make the Wii U succeed, a more powerful, more thought-out fresh start would make a good last resort. 3rd parry devs could make bigger games, & so could Nintendo. But this should only be a final effort to remain relevant in the console market; Wii U owners would understandably be upset by doing so.
Makes sense. Most people were probably paying to fix property damage. To promote the 3DS, they lowered the price & made more games. Their devs worked on the 3DS & couldn't make Wii U games.
@LindsayPez I have a lot of Xbox 360 errors, but my 3DS works fine. My PC acts weird sometimes too (especially iTunes, but based on how many issues there is, I'd bet it's Apple's problem), so I'd guess it's some internet issue.
They should've prepared at least a little, but at least now they're making the switch. I do fear the same will be said about the Wii U's CPU & how better ones would've allowed bigger games years from now though, as well as a bit more RAM.
@theblackdragon What I think happened is they saw that they were getting money from the stream & didn't realize it was a charity, & then reversed their decision. They need to think before they make these decisions instead of reversing them.
Sounds like a good deal to me.
Edit: Glad I preordered. Does the $30 eShop credit go to a select system, because my family shares a Club Nintendo account?
I know. Phil Fish is right on this. I could overlook big expansion packs for DLC if the game is already a good deal, but Nintendo went above & beyond to not implement Zynga-style microtransactions.
Best thing I've seen all week. It looked so bad. I mean, really? I knew it would be bad, but Activision somehow managed to surpass my expectations in a bad way. That trash can part was funniest. That's right where the game belongs.
I don't think they'll be severely affected, but if they are, may Nintendo, maybe Sony, or a 3rd party publisher / developer like Capcom, Sega, Konami, etc. buy them out.
@Rief They have to put effort into making interesting, funny commentary. Watch Etho & Vintage Beef play Minecraft to see what I mean. Pause Unpause had a funny Let's Play for Resident Evil Revelations, though he didn't go past the 1st level. Sea Nanners is great too (watch him play GTA4, The Hidden, & Trouble in Terrorist Town). By the way, Pause Unpause swears, & some people Etho & Beef play w/ do too if you don't like vulgar videos, but I find them funny.
Pirating games is like stealing. It hurts game devs. And 3DS games are usually $40 & often times even less? If you can afford a 3DS, you can probably afford to support some game devs & their families. Flashcard makers are disgraces to me.
Wait? PSP release? I can see skipping Wii U, Xbox One, & PS4, but PSP in favor of not having a 3DS one? It's not like that sells on that system, does it? Then again, I don't really know, but I'm doubtful that version fared any better.
@KnightRider666 The Vita's a decent system. If they can get the game + memory card issues fixed, it could pick up some steam. I don't have it, but those & some other minor things are all I've heard of.
@neumaus I agree it has good games, but not much. Gravity Rush, ACIII Liberation, Persona 4 Golden, etc. are good, but it's only slightly better than the Wii U's lineup.
@neumaus I don't believe it had many games last I heard. By no means is it bad, but it hasn't caught on like the 3DS / Xbox 360 / PS3 / etc. I think that this coming to it is a good thing, though the exclusive content is pretty rude considering Wii U owners are getting screwed over w/ those stupid delays to get an inferior version in some respects. Ubisoft should be giving them the game on time, or with way more content (that all versions have, plus exclusive content for them). This isn't the case.
