Re: King Nintendo 64 Lords It Up At Otakon

Vincent294

Cool, though the point of ruining most of the stuff (as at least 1/2 has to be functional, most broken ones would be in the trash), is kinda sad. I grew up on the PS1, but the N64 was a pretty good system, and I bet it would've been awesome to have played that during its time.

Re: Michael Pachter Doubts 3DS XL's Powers of Revival

Vincent294

@darkgamer001 Pachter should stop thinking this will be a bit of a failure. While he did note it will help the sales, it will be a larger step in reaching Nintendo's goal than he thinks. Minus the 2nd analog stick thing (and why that isn't a criticism of his is beyond me), the 3DS XL is awesome. I won't be buying one, but some people held off for a bigger screen. That will help sales, those who waited for a revision. The 3DS certainly needs some more games, as in more Resident Evil/Call of Duty/Zelda/other must-have games, and marketing to let people know about these games are as well. The Vita's doing this, and I'm sure it'll help its sales. Also, when you want the 3DS to sell, releasing Pokemon on the DSi doesn't help. And at this point, the DSi is so outdated that the game itself is a shadow of what it could've been on 3DS. At least Castlevania is coming, but there should be more than that. If Nintendo can persuade 3rd party devs to develop for the 3DS more, they'll reach their goal for sure.

Re: Review: Johnny Kung Fu (3DS eShop)

Vincent294

@Rococoman La Mulana was cancelled due to Nicalis cancelling it, not Nintendo, and Super Meat Boy didn't come due to file size limits. Anyways, the 3DS doesn't have size limits, thank goodness, and Wii U probably won't either. Looks like Nintendo learned their lesson. Also, while Nintendo curating the eShop does hurt chances of indie games getting in, it beats some things getting in (like that fake dysfunctional Pokemon game on the App Store). The Ouya can be rooted by its owners without voiding the warranty, which is good for those who like modding their games/systems as a hobby. There's no licensing fees for devs either. So yeah, that's one way to do game consoles, and it definitely has its benefits, but Nintendo does things the way they want to. What's sad is UFO Interactive gets to be lucky and make all these games, yet some devs encounter issues bringing their amazing games over. That sucks.

Re: Michael Pachter: Activision Demanded Wii U Pro Controller for CoD

Vincent294

@WaveBoy I like dual analog, but it's a bit sluggish. Wii remote can be good, but games can be excellent (like Metroid Prime: Corruption), fairly good (Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles), or bad. Keyboard and mouse is similar, but the keyboard sucks for moving (it's like a d-pad for moving in a 3D environment, but worse).

Re: Talking Point: 3DS XL's Media Potential

Vincent294

The 3DS has some okay media options, though if media's all you want it's not the device you should choose right now. 3DS Sound is better than the Photo Channel (Wii) & DSi Sound for listening to music, but the inability to change playlist settings, lack of playlist organizing, and still being unable to play copy-protected songs are 3 things that could use some work, w/ the middle option being most important. The camera quality on the XL should've been improved at least a little, but it wasn't, and chances are it's too late to back out and fix it now. 3D wasn't a selling point for me, & shouldn't be, but it's a welcome addition. Netflix hasn't gone 3D yet, which it should, along w/ Hulu Plus, which is long overdue. A YouTube app would also be nice, and same w/ a web chat app as well. Add that, and the 3DS should be fine. Oh, and a music video section on the eShop wouldn't be half bad as well.

Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue Three

Vincent294

Time to play my new copies of Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles & RE4. Then, like some of the staff, I'll do Xenoblade & (maybe) Metroid Prime Trilogy (all this so far on my Wii). Perhaps I'll stick some Minecraft and Mass Effect 3 on my 360 in as well. Lastly, on the go (3DS) I'll do some replaying of Resident Evil: Revelations & Starfox 64 3D* & trying to finish VVVVVV's player levels* (* = maybe). Perhaps if I have time, which I doubt, I'll finish the Fire Sanctuary on Zelda: Skyward Sword.

Re: Unreal Engine 4 Ports Possible on Wii U

Vincent294

So despite UE4 being able to run on Wii U, they'd rather use UE3? Hopefully someone gets up and starts porting UE4 to Wii U, because I've seen how much of an improvement it can be for some games (like Fortnite on PC).

Re: Feature: Bizarre Emails Sent to Nintendo Life - Volume 5

Vincent294

I read all the old ones. Some were so funny, like the can you guys make Wii games more like Kinect games one. The title, irony, was a perfect fit, when so many Kinect games practically are Wii games, but w/ HD & voice commands, and a hint of originality. Why so many people mistake you guys for Nintendo is just sad too, because it says that on the site. Also, the links on volume 3 are wrong: It shows links for Volumes 1 & 2, not 2 & 4

Re: Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Keeping it Simple on Wii U GamePad

Vincent294

@dantevskratos The Wii D-Pad wasn't Nintendo's finest, and the Xbox 360 one was more like a 3rd analog stick, but I haven't been the biggest fan of the Playstation D-Pads. The Vita one was nice though. Currently, the 3DS one is my favorite, but now to get back on topic: Tekken may be doing it right. The 2nd screen may not be too beneficial to a fighting game.

Re: Nintendo Determined to Beat Hackers with Wii U and 3DS

Vincent294

@Cloud-San-VII Yeah, but the problem is, if you can mod it, you can hack & pirate it as well. So there cannot be a safe way to allow mods except for really fancy level editors, etc. that let you change just about anything w/ single-player. And no one makes that, and we all know some people will go I just want to make mods, and then we have piracy and cheaters all over again. If only there was a way to allow mods without cheating and pirating...

Re: Iwata Expects Wii U to Last a Generation

Vincent294

@GamerZack They weren't very bad w/ that comment. Yeah, it may have been a little biased, because Wii U did much more than catch up (it did that and then some, plus add in quite a few innovations). However, they did show very little Zelda, etc. besides Pikmin & a re-do of NSMB Wii. But Microsoft is okay, and while Vista did make me consider switching to Mac, Windows 7 was okay. If 8 can improve, since 7 felt like catching up, they'll be well-off.

Re: Iwata Expects Wii U to Last a Generation

Vincent294

@Lew3107 Now while graphics shouldn't decide a console, you may want to know that you may have been missing out on quite a few good 360 games. I've been using both, w/ a slight emphasis on my new 360. Both are great though, but some of the Wii games are inferior beyond graphics. Namely, the CPU can limit how much you can do w/ a game. I'm surprised Xenoblade works on my Wii, and shows it can do quite a bit, but I bet most games wouldn't function very good. MW3 had quite a few corners cut on Wii, beyond graphics.

Re: 3DS Sales Momentum in U.S. and Europe is 'Not so Good'

Vincent294

@ouroborous Yeah, its lack of FPSs & RPGs is bad, but tons is about to come, and fighting games and Resident Evil are brimming on the 3DS (where have you been?). To miss those is a big mistake; those are some of my favorite games (RE: Revelations was awesome, and I enjoyed borrowing my bro's fighting games, I've been tempted to buy them myself). If you haven't looked into those, you're missing out on what helped keep me using my 3DS, though I'm starting to run low on games for it now. Until then, I have my Wii & 360.

Re: 3DS Sales Momentum in U.S. and Europe is 'Not so Good'

Vincent294

Here's how the 3DS could become successful: make it known. It's known, and to quite an impressive degree, but believe me: if Resident Evil: Revelations, Dead or Alive: Dimensions, Mario Kart 7, Zelda: OoT 3D, and other distinct one-of-a-kind experiences were more prominent, people would want it more. And lack of a 3DS Call Of Duty isn't helping. Maybe a port of an Elder Scrolls game, like Morrowind could help. However, the Vita is even closer to those kind of experiences, so Nintendo had better make a game engine to give to 3rd party devs to get its games closer to it. That and leverage its own IPs like Pikmin, Metroid, Zelda, Mario, SSB, etc.

Re: Nintendo Download: 28th June 2012 (North America)

Vincent294

@Oddy I'm going to get it now because I've been on the fence for getting it, and ATV Wild Ride 3D is going to be around $10. To have that, I want to have $10 left. The sale price leaves me about $11, so if I get both, I don't need to buy another eShop card. If I had had enough to get both prior to the sale, I probably would've caved in and got it by now.

Re: E3 2012: Nintendo Direct Live

Vincent294

Miiverse is...I don't know what. It could overwhelm some games. Perhaps Nintendo already knows about solutions to speech bubbles all over the screen. What could go wrong most is the possible lack of moderators. I mean, if a hater or spammer goes wild on Wii U...that could be a disaster. Anyways, I hope it turns out great. Plus it would be stupid to base the system on a crappy, unreliable foundation. So I think Iwata has it under control.

Re: Feature: Our Favourite E3 Memories - Part One

Vincent294

@tealovertoma Hey, for convenience, use (youtube:videoid) for videos (replace the parenthesis ( ) w/ brackets [ ] ). Also, the videoid is the part of the url after the v=. See?: [youtube:Fgh0D1Sfg3s] EDIT: Also, this is one of Nintendo's best ads in a while for the 3DS. And their E3 presentation this year had better be as good as this.
