As a journalist myself, the story could easily be the opposite: Pokemon Go encourages children to go out and have fun with other children in a world of sedentary lifestyle and isolation.
I love this franchise and I think the games are top-quality, but after 4 Ultimate I can't stop reminding how better it looks and plays on Wii and Wii U (I haven't played the PSP games). I'm sure next will be multi-platform, though. The 3DS screens are just not sharp enough.
Sensationalist journalism exists everywhere. Also, living is in itself a danger. If you want to go out and have fun anything could happen, but it's much worse not doing a thing and stay in your room forever.
Oh, and some newspapers would do anything for getting attention...
@antdickens I would like to think it's a bug but Miitomo also asks for tons of permissions so I'm not sure if Nintendo cares about our privacy, even though they like to censor games.
Pokemon Go should only ask permission for the camera, GPS and in-game purchases, right?
I did not pass level 1 as a kid but I thought it looked great. Whenever there's cross-buy on Nintendo platforms I'll buy more virtual console games on them.
@Martendo For your information, Rare didn't develop any of their games with Nintendo holding their hands. They live in UK and Nintendo in Japan and that was a time when companies were not online 24/7, plus Rare was quite independent. Rare developed their games on their own to the point that they made Conker's Bad Fur Day and Nintendo did not want to publish it. Nintendo was just 49% owner of the company.
As for Rare not making good games in the last 20 years, they made some good Xbox 360 games until Microsoft asked them to write Kinect code for other developers to use and also make Kinect games. Now they are making Sea of Thieves which is designed by original Rare member Gregg Mayles and is looking awesome so far. Also, some of Playtonic's staff like Steve Mayles had important roles in the original Rare. And who is Nintendo now to save the day, anyway?
@Trinexx Good. By simple I mean the gameplay and the progression, the story is simple in the three games. I believe the third entry is a very good place to start.
EDIT: Or the fourth, whatever you choose. Surprisingly, the quality has not been lowered in this Nintendo franchise (fingers crossed).
@-Red- #82 Hopefully. The only amiibo I got are the three small Yarn Yoshis (the green in the game bundle) and Wolf Link (game bundle). I think amiibo are, in general, a cheap way of locking content. But I'm also against overpriced DLC (like Smash Bros. and Hyrule Warriors). If it's like Mario Kart 8 then it's perfect.
@Grumblevolcano #83 Yeah who knows
@HappyMaskedGuy Yeah, anything is possible at this point.
@HappyMaskedGuy Or perhaps there is a secret dungeon in Breath of the Wild that you can only access by having both versions of the game by paying TWICE for them of course, a la Nintendo.
@Grumblevolcano That's a good idea. I think most people prefer remasters of great games and new AAA games instead of rushed and mediocre spin-offs. Only problem is that Microsoft and Sony bundle these games or release them for a cheaper price while Nintendo's remasters are always sold separately at a premium price as if they were all-new releases, which is kind of stingy and disappointing.
@MegaBeedrill Yep and Zelda U was supposed to launch this year or earlier according to Nintendo and now it's delayed until 2017 because of the NX port so who knows... perhaps Pikmin 4 will be delayed because of the NX2 port.
@Grumblevolcano And Mario is 2-3 years away according to Miyamoto.
@-Red- He's just guessing. I'm sure he would prefer Metroid Prime 4 instead of Federation Force and, since last serious Metroid game was Metroid Prime 3, he's just worried. Me too.
@Grumblevolcano. Sure it does have at least one Wii U port as Breath of the Wild is a Wii U game that is getting a NX port and Wii U delayed release. If NX is not backwards compatible it could get some more Wii U ports but I'm not sure about how would they perform commercially. If it's backwards compatible then we have the tablet controller / handheld link debate. It's interesting your opinion as usually, I also think One S is going to give Nintendo a hard time, as it is small, cheap, backwards compatible with One and 360 and it's also a 4K BD player. Heaven, if I didn't have an Xbox One I'd surely pick one up before a PS4/Neo. Also. Scorpio is still a bit far (holiday 2016) and could be expensive, as you pointed out.
@Trinexx I think the best Pikmin formula is Pikmin 1. Pikmin 2 is the most challenging. I love Pikmin 3, it's the most beautiful and have the winged pikmin, but I would change it a bit and make it more challenging (more similar to Pikmin 1). Pikmin 1 is very re-playable as you try to complete the story faster each time. Pikmin 2 can be a bit frustrating and Pikmin 3 is too simple but has great features.
@Grumblevolcano Yep, it's not a NX launch title and according to what he said about Mario, there's no Mario game at launch either. So NX launch software will be Breath of the Wild, Just Dance and whatever remains hidden. After 3DS and Wii U's disappointing launch software options, I don't trust that this time will be any different, and the competitors now are fiercer than ever (One-Scorpio, PS4-Neo and mobile devices). Unless they have faith in their mobile apps...
@Yellowkoopa True. Nintendo abandoned Wii two years before its death even though it was successful (probably because they knew it was a fluke after all) and abandoned Wii U in its fourth year of life. And still they insist on making new hardware and expect it to be the most successful ever, regardless of their actions and history. The thing that Nintendo does not see is that people are interested in software over hardware, it doesn't matter if the Nintendo brand is stamped on it or not. What really puzzles me is the fact that Nintendo repeats the same mistakes over and over again, and refuses to see the fluke that the Wii phenomena was.
Fans are leaving. Nintendo doesn't have a clue about the reasons. Fans tell Nintendo the reasons and Nintendo doesn't listen.
@LUIGITORNADO It's difficult for employees to disagree with bosses (Iwata) at Nintendo. I know this because I used to read all Iwata asks and one could easily read between the lines. Every employee that tried to disagree about something with Iwata had to smile and say that Iwata is right in the end. That's one of the reasons why Nintendo is stuck in the past.
Well, if you don't support your new console enough and there is no third party support, this is what happens. It's logical. The problem is that they had done the same mistakes with 3DS launch and remember how they said they had learnt from their mistakes and that the Wii U launch would be different. It wasn't.
@Grumblevolcano They only made Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land and both games seem rushed. I think Nintendo expected Wii U to success with a new New Super Mario Bros. game and Nintendo Land, like if they were going to sell as much as New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Wii Sports.
This article ignores the most important part of the interview. You are just picking the sweet side. Nintendo also said that they are following the Sticker Star "light RPG" style because they believe there's RPG in Mario & Luigi already. Basically, they are saying Paper Mario is going to be an action adventure from now on, with cards instead of a team and with a deeper story than Sticker Star's story which was ridiculous anyway.
I'd prefer Nintendo developing big games for big platforms (One/Scorpio, PS4/Neo, PC) but if they want to focus on cheap apps for phones is up to them. Who knows what NX will be at this point?
@Snow-Dust He is referring to the 3D Zelda games. Of course the CDi games don't count. Anyway, that's just 0.01% of the whole video. Fi is the most annoying character ever but I must respect you...
@PlywoodStick That makes sense. Literally, anyone can be a website reviewer (or even rule a website like PS) these days, it's not like the printed magazines' reviews of yesterday.
@HappyMaskedGuy More: mediocre soundtrack with mediocre remixes, boring dialogues, lifeless environments, poor replay value, no real multiplayer mode, no online mode, tiresome boss battles, really poor story and connection between characters, cumbersome tracking system, horrible sound design with lack of options, horrible visual design... And I haven't mentioned the controls.

Are these good news or do they mean that Nintendo's future is in mobile apps (which are bad news for traditional players)?
Re: Nintendo Download: 14th July (Europe)
@Jazzer94 "Star Fox Zero demo should have been at launch not after people ignored the game".
Absolutely true. What Nintendo has done stinks.
Re: Nintendo Download: 14th July (Europe)
Star Fox Zero demo three months later? LOL at people trying to defend this. Nintendo is always right.

No.

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Provides Assurances on Pikmin 4 Development
@Grumblevolcano @-Red- It's sad that Nintendo rushes games instead of developing AAA games that would meet better reception and sales. Examples:

Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival vs. Animal Crossing
