Re: Nintendo Issues Takedown Notices for Impressive Fan-Made Metroid II Remake, AM2R

VanillaLake

My first Metroid game was Metroid Prime. Then I played Prime 2 and Prime 3 and I loved the three of them, Prime 2 is probably my favourite. Then I played Metroid Fusion and Super Metroid, they are fine but I can't play Metroid or Metroid 2. Without a map I'm clueless, so I would probably try remakes if they have a proper map. I believe the only NES games I like are the Super Mario Bros. games (and not on Wii/Wii U where they look so bad but on 3DS where they look much better). The worst Metroid is Other M, yep. It's a mess with beautiful cut-scenes.

@gcunit Is that a flaming post or are you really wanting peace? I think @Kirk could have expressed himself in a better way here. However, if you are that worried about users' behaviour, why don't you react when some users insult, hate and do some aggressive flaming, too? I only see you reacting to people that are a bit more critical towards Nintendo or yourself or just defending themselves but not to the people that are outright offensive and disrespectful, like when I told somebody to stop insulting me in a very well-mannered way and you came and put us in the same bag when all I did was tell him to stop. It's not the same thing.

Back on topic, I think this is alright if it's non-profit, why Nintendo wants us to make levels on Super Mario Maker, drawings of Mario and Metroid on Art Academy but they don't want to see any fan development effort? I can understand their fears about some people playing fans' remakes and not buying Metroid 2 NES for the fourteenth time... really? What I don't like it's the way Nintendo deals with these things, but that's just my opinion, anyway.

@BensonUii I just think you are becoming a bit obsessed with my opinions. You have already said yours and I did not say anything, but you are starting to get too repetitive. Of course you can say what you think about my comment but once is more than enough, that's why it's starting to be annoying. Let's just stop it here.

Re: Nintendo Download: 11th August (Europe)

VanillaLake

@BensonUii "I don't care why the Wii U failed"

I guess we all care for different things and have different opinions. I was just trying to make you see why Nintendo's wrong decisions are bad for us. I'm Nintendo's customer, not Nintendo's owner and I don't care about NX at the moment. I can't have an opinion about what will happen in the future but I can tell you how I see things now.

@Ikramali Thanks.

Re: Nintendo Download: 11th August (Europe)

@BensonUii Okay, I think that I know what you mean now. However, Nintendo made us buy additional controllers last and this generation: classic controller, classic controller pro, Wii U classic controller... Now you can get a GameCube adapter for Wii U and use your old or new GameCube controllers for just ONE game, while they are videos on Youtube that show how easy is to run GameCube games and use those original accessories made by Nintendo for playing GameCube games on Wii U natively. You say that Wii U natively support Wii games, but that's not the whole story. Wii U also supports GameCube games in the same way, it's just a locked function (like that stupid region-lock). You are talking about Wii Remote controllers, but remember that they are not included in any (relevant) Wii U bundle, so what is the difference between them and GameCube controllers currently available at your local store?

Honestly, there's no reason why GameCube games are not available on eShop and, of course, there's no reason why only a few N64 games are currently available. I agree about that. When you say that Wii U is not going to be a hit now, don't forget the reason why it was not a hit in the first place. Nintendo's decisions about Wii U are lamentable, out-of-date and out of touch.

Re: Nintendo Download: 11th August (Europe)

VanillaLake

@peeks True, same here. This is the first generation I got consoles other than Nintendo's. In my case I got a Wii U, then a PS4 when games stopped coming to Wii U and then an Xbox One. Xbox One has the better deals and policies and while it's true that PS4 has a little advantage this is going to change very soon with Scorpio. Xbox is becoming the best gaming environment (outside PC) but, at the same time, I'm a Nintendo fan as well and Nintendo would sell me NX with something like a proper 3D Mario game, a new Wave Race game, etc. I won't buy it at launch, that's for sure. I want to see what Nintendo does, I don't want to buy the console for the Nintendo brand alone, I want Nintendo to make me want it. I want Nintendo to do things right. And, if NX is disappointing and a failure, then I want Nintendo to make great games again for the other platforms.

Re: Nintendo Download: 11th August (Europe)

VanillaLake

@peeks And this doesn't seem to improve with upcoming NX, I'm starting to think that Wii U will be better than NX in every way and I can see even more people jumping to Xbox and PS "next" generation. For instance, Xbox One S 2TB is sold out already.

Re: Nintendo Download: 11th August (Europe)

VanillaLake

@Martendo Yes, The Thousand-year Door is glorious. Hopefully you can play it again soon.

@Chandlero Yes, I know, that's why I'm saying that Nintendo can and should make that happen. If it's possible and some people play them on Wii U, why they don't just sell GameCube games on the eShop? The GameCube adapter and controllers are there already... And then people would understand why we are saying that GameCube games are so good.

Re: Nintendo Download: 11th August (Europe)

VanillaLake

@Spideron But it's still not logical, Wii U has native compatibility with GameCube and supports the GameCube controllers while NX is an iPad with detachable controls and different architecture. There is no reason why GameCube games are not on eShop already.

Re: Nintendo Download: 11th August (Europe)

VanillaLake

@Martendo All the Wii roms on the eShop are overpriced except for Metroid Prime Trilogy when it was at €10, that was fine. I like Super Paper Mario but I already have the disc and I wouldn't pay €20 for a Wii rom, honestly. The best Paper Mario ever is The Thousand-year Door, though.

Re: Nintendo Download: 11th August (Europe)

VanillaLake

@Chandlero

It is technically possible for Wii U to run GameCube games (hackers have proved that), so I don't know why Nintendo does not release them on eShop. Also, it is technically possible to use GameCube controllers using the GameCube Adapter for Wii U, so there is no reason why Nintendo does not make this possible. Moreover, GameCube controllers have been re-released recently, special editions included, so again I don't understand why Nintendo does not release GameCube games for Wii U. So disappointing, GameCube has a very interesting games library.

Re: Sources Suggest That Pokémon and Mario Will Arrive on Nintendo NX in First Six Months

VanillaLake

What Reggie and Miyamoto have pointed out is rather worrying. They said not long ago that "an interesting new Mario game could happen in two or three years". Proper Pokemon games take some time, too. Moon and Sun have not been released yet. If we are talking about spin-off games then yes, NX could have some Mario and Pokemon games in the first 6 months, even at launch, but not sure if those games are exactly what we are expecting from Nintendo.

Re: Rumour: Shantae and the Pirate's Curse is Getting a Physical 3DS Release

VanillaLake

@samuelvictor Actually, I recently read that PEGI +3 can include nudity without a sexual context here in Europe, and that makes sense to me because nudity is normal, it's even in school books. I don't get why Nintendo is so obsessed with avoiding it. Sexuality is also normal but I can understand it shouldn't be in +3 games. There's no sex reference in this game, though.

About the game I already have it on Wii U and 3DS, I like the visuals but the game is very confusing like it was made for the developers.

Re: Video: This Raspberry Pi-Powered, 3D Printed NES Mini Puts Nintendo's Effort To Shame

VanillaLake

@Thermoclorn I'm not a NES fan since I never had it, but I'm a SNES fan. I'm not thinking of myself, just trying to make some sense here and express how I see things. €60 for a cheap machine that is not hardware but cheap software emulation is not a great selling point when you can play emulated NES games everywhere. The NES pad is a selling point, but just it. I don't like it, though. The SNES pad is much better, probably the best 2D pad ever made. I have got the SNES controller that is attached to the Wiimote and it works better than the GamePad and Wii U pro controller for 2D games.

Re: Video: This Raspberry Pi-Powered, 3D Printed NES Mini Puts Nintendo's Effort To Shame

VanillaLake

@Thermoclorn Yep but you can do that much better (not exactly like this guy, but better than Mini NES), people now are more demanding. NES was a great machine back then, so Nintendo's "remake" should be a better effort: more games built-in or cartridge support at the very least. AND, if you are going to make a dedicated hardware for NES games, it should be hardware emulation. Software emulation is available everywhere: PC, 3DS, Wii, Wii U, mobile phones, tablets... If you are making a NES, make a d**n NES!
