Re: Feature: 3DS Games You'll Probably Never Play

TheAmazingRaccoon

t was a shame about bomberman and hudson in general, that game would have been a perfect fit for the 3ds. The mega man legends thing was atrocious. In regard to the comment about the early GTAs in the article, I miss the humor of the early GTAs. Stalking Hare Krishna in your car and running them over when they formed a straight line to get the biggest bonus (Gouranga) was so much fun. By taking the point and bonus system out of the new ones, they made the much less fun.

Re: Talking Point: Your Nintendo Christmas Presents

TheAmazingRaccoon

An Offspring poster signed by the original band (an extremely rare item in NZ)
Wario land shake dimension
DeBlob 2
$70 worth of eb games vouchers (which will be going towards a special edition zelda 3ds console. If they let me do a system transfer in store, that is)

And the most important gift was:

My late Father's wedding ring. My mother gave it to me several years ago, and I had misplaced it. I was fearful that I would never see it again, and it had extreme sentimental value to me. I moved out recently, and while my mum was rearranging the room after I had left, she found it. She kept it until Christmas (about a year after I had misplaced it). It was totally unexpected and really made my Christmas. I am never taking it off again.

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap ( / Game Boy Advance)

TheAmazingRaccoon

finally beat this tonight, despite having the cartridge for years. Thank you ambassador program. Is it just me or is the difficulty of the final boss's forms out of order?

EDIT: Regarding the game length: I had a look at the play time of the Zeldas on my 3DS and they stack up as follows; minish cap: 18:12 (one playthrough), Links awakening: 19:07 (one playthrough), Ocarina of time: 21:11 (one and a bit playthrough). So, it looks like minish cap is 1hr shorter (1hr is nothing in a Zelda game). I had played all three before, I have finished ocarina more times that I can count, but hadn't finished minish cap or links awakening before, so they are the best to compare.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Year of Giving

TheAmazingRaccoon

I thought that Kirby TV was generous it was sad to see it go, but the ambassador scheme (yes I called it a scheme) blew it out of the water. I was content with receiving nothing when the price cut occurred, so even one game would have been more than enough. 20 games is beyond awesome and it makes me love Nintendo even more. I was going to buy MK7 but I will be holding off until I have a chance to put a dent in the GBA games (I played Minish cap for over 10hrs yesterday, with a 6hr straight session.) It might provide the money I need for that gorgeous 25th Zelda console [drools].

Re: Feature: Memorable Zelda Moments

Sneaking passed the enemies in a barrel in the forsaken fortress, there has never been a more tense moment in zelda. The sneaking doesn't even come close in SS.

I agree with the black and white as well.

In MM meeting Tingle for the first time was surreal (that was his first apearance wasn't it?)

Oh yeah, meeting the fairy queen in WW (was anyone expecting what she looked like?)

Re: Guide: Nintendo 3DS System Update

I have an eshop account in two regions. If I do a system transfer while set to one country, will it transfer the balance from the other region as well?

Are you saying it transfers your ambassador status as well as the games?

Re: Feature: The Revolution of the Wii

TheAmazingRaccoon

my favorite peripherals are the AMS hand cannons and the light saber. The hand cannons when used in conjunction with HotD:O provide one of the funnest experiences on the wii (especially when the hand cannons are used in the game) and the loading motion is pure joy. They are front heavy, so if you play for an extended period of time your wrist begins to weaken.

The light saber attachments bring out the inner child in me and make playing force unleashed that much more fun. It is also a peripheral that the PSMove could not pull off (because it would result in there being an ugly ball between the hilt and blade)

Re: Feature: Remembering the GameCube

TheAmazingRaccoon

I remember when the gamecube was released, the magazine I read at the time had a height chart (like the ones that compare the worlds tallest buildings) that compared the PS2, XBox and Gamecube. It was so staggering the difference in size (especially the XBox). I love everything about the design of the gamecube, and yes I did use the carry handle.

Re: Feature: The Most Bizarre Nintendo Life Search Results

TheAmazingRaccoon

when I typed "video games" or "videogames" or "videogame" or "video game" or "computer game" or "computer games" or nintendo or playstation or xbox or "nintendo 3ds" or wii, into google I couldn't find this site (apart from this article of course) on 26 pages of results. It is a wonder that someone linked to nintendo life from that search.

Re: Feature: The Best Games on GameCube and Wii

TheAmazingRaccoon

Blasphemy. No Eternal Darkness ("Eternal Darkness can safely be called one of the GameCube's best titles") for gamecube or Xenoblade Chronicles (which you guys basically called a perfect game in your review) for the wii. other noteworthy titles include Killer 7 and Fire Emblem for the gamecube and No More Heroes and House of the Dead: Overkill for the wii.

Re: Talking Point: First-Person Shooters and the 3DS Circle Pad Pro

TheAmazingRaccoon

I have never liked dual anolog control for fps. I can understand it for 3rd person things where there is a camera that needs manipulating, but for 1st person it always seem to feel stupid to me. I loved the 64s control for fps especially for Turok and I love the the Wii and DS control, but gamecube fps control never caught on for me. Dual stick now seems like a massive step back in control for fps and doesn't make sense when there is a superior control scheme already built in to the 3DS.
My fear is that games will focus on the circle pad pro for control, and the touch screen control will be shoddy when it could be great. When the redesigned 3ds comes out there will be games that use only dual stick and us early adopters will be forced to buy it.
That being said I think that it is still a good idea when used for camera control.
