The 3DS Ambassador games are available all across the globe now: after Australians got their free games, lucky gamers across Europe and North America can pick theirs up too now.
To download your 10 free games, follow these steps:
1 - Enter the eShop from the 3DS Home Menu.
2 - Scroll to the far left and select "Settings / Other".
3 - Scroll down and select "Your Downloads"
4 - The games will appear here once ready for download, alongside software you've already downloaded.
Remember these games are only available to 3DS owners who bought their 3DS before 11th August. It is yet to be confirmed if Nintendo will sell these games individually on the eShop in the future for non-qualifying 3DS owners, but we think they'd be crazy not to.
Here are the retro delights on offer:
F-Zero: Maximum Velocity
Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi’s Island
Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
Kirby & The Amazing Mirror
Mario Kart: Super Circuit
Mario vs. Donkey Kong
Metroid Fusion
Wario Land 4
WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgames

ლ(ಠ益ಠლ) Y U NO LOVE ME!?
werent the nes ambassador games put online hours within each other all over the world?
The graphics quality isn't as good as playing the actual cartridges. They're not as clear as playing them on the GBA SP or DS Lite.
Press down Start and Sect when loading up the game to get th original resolution
Is there a date for NA ? = o
@7. Nope, NoA didn't send any notifications or post anything online...
I have heard many people saying, do not complain because the games are free, but I really don't agree how nintendo is doing with the block region, at this point is just ridiculous
Did people in the UK get a notification about the games?
A good reason to try out the Sleep Mode Download method.
Gonna get them all before work.
Please hurry, NoA. My heart jumped when I saw this article, And it sank as I read on. XD
Morning up after 6 am and downloaded all the games had to delete some NES stuff but ho hum Zelda first anyone know how to delete Sports channel? Lastly thanks Nintendo!
So Ambassador games does exist. Good. I can relax now and just keep waiting

Nice. I'll be downlading them asap. Great way to try out the silent donlaoding feature.

Not really enough for solid proof, but it's a pic alright. If you don't wanna believe me, fine, but there's the pic.

Yeah! I'm downloading them now.
12:30am PST in Oregon. Nothing yet...
**Update** 12:55am PST. All 10 GBA games downloaded.
I like how you changed the article from Europe to "everyone" hehe
For a few minutes, I felt like the only one in the U.S. who could get them. (Los Angeles, CA here.) It was weird. People asked to see pictures of me downloading games because they wouldn't believe me. Lol!! Yeah, I didn't. I'm not that crazy. Enjoy your games guys! I'm playing Zelda...
I can confirm that in South Dakota the GBA games are up!
Damn, NoA seems really behind the curve as of late.
Still nothing in Canada. It's 1:39 AM Mountain time here.
Weird that there are no notifications or at least a PR from NOA.
nebraska the games are up I promise!
I am very, very happy with this selection of games. There is truly something for everyone here. Thank you, Nintendo!
Still nothing in New Jersey... :/
nothing yet... i wonder if people at nintendo get their kicks from watching loyal costumers feel so alienated...
I will check again at 4:10 am or 4:15 am but as of this time i still don't have them and i live in Tennessee.
Up for me now in toronto
We just got them here in Texas. Downloading 'em now.
Got 'em. Downloading now. Bet it'll be slow, though
@grumblegrumble
Sorry for ever doubting your words.
I got them now. My sincere, apologies!
Finally, the long awaited Minish Cap.
Gets off computer, begins playing The Minish Cap
Night, all!
mine are finally up now. At long last finally.
here in ia, its the middle of the night and i woke up hit download later on all of them and now i'm going back to sleep.
I got F-Zero Maximum Velocity, Mario Kart Super Circuit and WarioWare Inc this morning. ill be playing F-Zero Maximum Velocity first when i get home.
I'll be downloading them when I get home tonight. Can't wait.
America's games are here now, downloading as I speak!
3 hrs into Minish Cap, loving it so far!
Set them all off in 'sleep mode' download and by the time I'd eaten my Rice Krispies they were all ready to play on my train to work. Yoshi's Island seems to have aged well, but I don't think Mario Kart has.
got em here in the mid south! kinda interesting in the description they say "coming to Nintendo eshop".
Michigan is finally with GBA games! ...good night. =P
Yoshi's Island is listed as its canon title as "Mario Advance 3". I had a bit of a scare there, because I couldn't remember (what I thought to be) Super Mario Bros. 3 being a download, and was initially wondering what game we in Europe (or even UK - Nintendo works in mysterious ways!) were losing.
I'm downloading them right now! I'm looking forward to them all except WarioWare (which I've already played to death on the Gamecube - are the games all the same?), F-Zero: Maximum Velocity (because it plays like F-Zero SNES and not F-Zero X), and maybe Mario vs Donkey Kong, because I don't like puzzle games very much, and if it's anything like 'Minis March Again!' (DSiWare), I bet it's going to get mind meltingly difficult.
I was confused about whether I had played Warioland 4, but I remembered I own the GBC one, which is Warioland 3, and all in all, I'm satisfied with the games considering I went out and bought a 3DS based only on the prospect of Yoshi's Island.
sleeping on it did turn out to be the best way to get wait. I'll download now, maybe try one and check the rest out later
I don't think Mario Kart has.
It hasn't. The controls are bad for a Mario Kart game even from that era. I either find the characters too loose or not responsive enough.
I do like being able to outrace a red shell though. Allows me to grab an item box with it on my tail and then drop a banana or something to take care of it.
I have only played two of these games. (Minish Cap & Super Circuit) although I'll probably return to Minish Cap for another go. (Super Circuit will probably get the short end of the stick here)
Fire Emblem, Wario Land, Metroid Fusion :3
A good few of these games are my first introduction to the series (like f-zero)
I've never played nay of these before, so this is great.
Having played into Metroid Fusion a bit I am left mystified as to why anyone was surprised but the script in Other M (which I thought was an incredible game).
Some games have ages well, others not so well but all are still worth playing. The thing that seems dissapointing is how the sound translates on the 3DS however some of the games look pretty good on the 3DS screen like Metroid Fusion and Kirby. Super Circuit is the one that has probably aged the worst but that could be down to all the improvements that had been made from one sequel to the next and this was the 3rd one and we are now up to 7.
But if I had to sum up the Ambasador Games with two words it would be "FIRE EMBLEM!!!!"
I'm a little disappointed these don't have a faux GBA rim around them when you make them display in their original aspect ratio, and that they don't have quick saves like the other Game Boy virtual titles.
They don't even go into sleep mode when you close the console, and you can't access the main menu without quitting the game. I don't want to sound ungrateful, but why did they release these so late if they're just straight up ports? They announced the ambassador program in late July. Did it really need to take them almost half a year to release no frill ports. These would have been great to tide me over until Ocarina and SM3DL.
At the very least they could have made these go into sleep mode, I'm guessing I can't even get street passes when I'm playing GBA games. I'm still happy for free games, but this is just laziness on Nintendo's part.
I couldn't sleep, so at like 5 AM I checked the E-shop and sure enough, they're here.
Nintendo said they had "Plans" to update them so they have local multiplayer right?
got mine! i love'em!
Got em, and love em all
Except for FZERO
Oh, and I love the screen resolution!
Ninty did a good job!
Because of you Ninty, I shall experience Minish Cap for the very first time
Ya!!
AHH Gotta get them before SCHOOL!!!
THANKS NINTENDO!! HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
@84 Scissors
Currently Nintendo have no plans to release these to Non-Ambassadors so thats probably why they are just lazy ports. The NES Ambassador games had 3DS functionality because eventully they are becoming available to the public with even more functionality.
Some of the things you mention do suck like not being able to get Streetpasses while playing, but to be honest these GBA games just act like the DSiware games so I dont see it that much of a problem.
In the end it is just lazy porting but hey we get what we pay for and im sure if and when decide to bring GBA to the VC these problems will be addressed.
Downloaded all ten of them. The "Download Later" option in the eshop is convenient for sure. I selected all ten GBA games and closed the lid to download. Still took a while though. All the eShop lacks now is a cart system. WarioLand 4 got the privilege of getting first play. (but I still say WarioLand 3 GBC was better)
Aw yeah, I'll download them as soon as I get home from school!
Just got them!
The emulation is kind of very bad... The pixels and textures are not good. Why is it so hard to make a good official emulator ?
It isn't a case of "lazy ports". The games run the hardware in DS mode, not 3DS mode, hence why no Street Pass and why when you shut them down, it takes a while for the menu to populate again - the 3DS hardware is effectively rebooting fully.
Yay for Minish Cap, it's the only hard to find Zelda for the GBA. I have still not played it. Great selection of games too. Nintendo have really outdone themselves compensating those who bought the system before the price drop. Well done to them.
If you don't like the standard resolution then play the original resolution. Its smaller but it looks a lot better.
The download later feature is very handy
u guys serious they're available now? let me check…oh they are!!! I am so glad they are on schedule. Damn NOA for not sending a confirmation message to america sooner
all good games some quality ones to get stuck into.lot better than 1st 10,happy days
They actually released the ambassador games before the end of the year, is hulu plus coming this year as well?
Woke up this morning and found them all in my downloaded games list...I got to play Wario Land 4 for about 10 minutes and had to go to work. I wish I could have played them yesterday evening when I had the time and was watching out for them! Oh well. Can't complain really. Now if 5:30 can get here just a little faster...being a 22 year old fan of Nintendo is rough sometimes....maybe I should try to focus on work just a little
I love Zelda, but Oh man Metroid Fusion is one of the best games of the Metroid series! Can't wait till they make a 3DS Metroid game! I wonder if they will...
@Scissors
I have to agree on a couple of points. Adding a border and subtle 3D like on the GB games would have been easy for them to do, and the fact that these don't let me suspend to return to the main 3DS menu will effectively mean that I will rarely play these, as I don't like having to make it all the way to a save point every time I pick up the system.
Woke early to downloaded all 10 of them thanks to the sleep download process. Already playing Mario and Metroid at the moment! There so awsome!
As much as it really would be nice to have save states and being able to suspend play when you return to the menu, it doesn't seem to bother me too much with these. I would probably end up cheating on some of the games anyway if I had the save state feature....haha. I'm not going to lie. I've done it before on the VC games that do have that... Metroid II ; got my butt kicked by a metroid (didnt' know I had to use missles..) Loaded point before the fight..
Ah, nostalgia. The first game I ever played was in the GBA-GCN era (was either Mario Kart: Super Circuit or Super Smash Bros. Melee).
Nintendo released them on my bday!! WooT!!!
Downloading them now.
By the way, how do you put GIF pictures in the box? I want to put the picture with the cockroach saying, "Good...good!"
@ImDiggerDam (96): "The games run the hardware in DS mode, not 3DS mode, hence why no Street Pass and why when you shut them down, it takes a while for the menu to populate again - the 3DS hardware is effectively rebooting fully."
Is it actually possible to receive street-pass data while playing an actual DS game cart? What about a DS game in suspend mode? If I remember correctly, the DS suspend function didn't work when playing GBA games. There were also a few DS games that didn't support it either, like with ZooKeeper, the back light and music kept going when I closed the lid.
I remember one time I went to a midnight launch party at Gamestop; there was some woman waiting around playing a game on her 3DS; I think it may have been a DS game, because I stood nearby for like several minutes, and did not get a street pass, wtf?
@Raptor78 I'm grad I'm not the only one who noticed this. I played through my retail copy of Minish Cap earlier in the year, and compared to the Ambassador version, the retail copy is crystal-clear. I blame this on a lower sound bit-rate, to which I'd gladly surrender 50-100 additional blocks per game. . . . but I guess it's good for free.
Nice America also has the games now. I guess we can stop calling them Meantendo for today.
@Scissors (84.) in additon to what Raptor78 (92.) and ImDiggerDan (96. ) wrote:
I’m not happy about that either but are you actually surprised by it ? I mean it was announced to be like this when the Ambassador programme started. We knew what to expect.
Personally I have to really play them several times first before I can say how much of a loss it is to me. And I’d say I don’t really have to rush a comment out because I’m sure there’s going to be an article ‘bout the games in the very near future. (Feature, Round Table, Talking Point or whatever, call it what you will). Heck, I’d even bet my original copy of Bucky O’Hare. And yes, that game means a whole lot to me so don't let me down here, guys!
It would be great if Nintendo could release upgraded versions one day though. Especially the inclusion of multiplayer in the games that offered it would be neat.
Tare wrote:
Nope, at the moment that just goes for the NES games.
Edit: Might i ask who deleted one of the posts ranging between #1 and #23 ? I got a bit confused when some people referenced comment #24 when i didn't write anything about what they said.
@ StarDust
Nope, you don't get any streetpasses when you're playing a DS game. The 3DS goes into DS mode, meaning it'll cut off all 3DS functionality and behave as if you're playing on a DS or DSi.
I chose the "download later" option for these games. I was amazed at how quickly I received them the moment I closed my 3DS.
NoA didn't notify anyone about putting them up.
Called it. lol NoA is so useless.
Anyways, I think the GBA list is FAR superior to the NES one. This'll be fun! Weee!
Want to download all 10 games in sleep mode, but it doesn't work, the 3DS isn't downloading anything =(. (No program is open, I closed the 3DS in home menue, the battery is full, W-LAN is on...)
I can't believe I didn't get a SpotPass notification about this! That "Ambassador Certificate" I downloaded is an achievement in worthlessness.
@battLeToaD
"It would be great if Nintendo could release upgraded versions one day though. Especially the inclusion of multiplayer in the games that offered it would be neat."
It is strange that they would include so many GBA Ambassador games that would benefit from Mulitiplayer if upgrading them wasnt in the back of their mind somewhere. I cant see it anytime soon, as in the next year that Nintendo will release GBA VC titles because they still have to rerelease the NES upgrades yet and with 10 NES titles im sure they would get by releasing one a month or so throwing that in with the 3D Classics etc. but the inclusing of Multiplayer titles in the GBA downloads, that and monitering how long we play / review these titles may be dipping their toe to see how well recieved they may be, planing on releasing the GBA titles at some point with the extra functions everybody wants.
OMG Yoshi's Island is such an awesome game!

that, my friend, is a LOT of software !!!!
Wow there's a lot of ingrate behavior and pissing and whining over this stuff finally showing up. It's like you're damned if you do or don't when it's Nintendo whether it's the traditional outsiders trying to be jerks, but now also the owners too. I guess it's a symptom of a whole generation being raised in a world where they feel everything is entitled to them.
I was betting they'd have this up around midnight last night and yeah I checked it a few in after and it was there so I grabbed them while the server load was low and they came within a few seconds which was surprising. I really like the selection and I've always wanted to see if I could get into Fire Emblem but the cheating AI stuff of Advance Wars ran of me off, never did try out Kirby either.
10 games is a good apology letter there from NOA, shame I have a big stack of GB/C/A games I messing with already as it's hard enough to manage 10 let alone triple that now. I'll have to figure out how to budget the time so nothing gets ignored.
...hoping at some rate others can experience the GBA VC too.
@Stardust correct if someone is playing a DS game you will not get a street pass. Its really easy actually. Look at your wireless light on the side of your 3ds. If its solid and not blinking then its not searching for another 3ds. If its flashing then you're set to give and receive street passes no matter what the function you are currently doing.
The Resolution takes some getting used to (if you aren't viewing it in the native rez, if you do, the screen is kinda small) I hope they release these games to the public so that way I can get the hopefully better versions with more features....plus if they go public more people can play them.
Kirby Kirby Kirby he's the star of the show~
@Raptor78: It's a huge trump card in their sleeves for sure. If they could make a SNES VC that would be another, though smaller one (since the market might be nearly saturated by the Wii's VC.)
It wouldn't make any sense to me not to have a true GBA VC on the 3DS. Especially after starting with giving them to us. Back when the 3DS's only system seller was Zelda i would have said they announce them at E3 2012. But as long as they have both good hard- and software sales they can focus on having it more of a profile of its own than as a retro gaming machine. Which should even be better in the long term since many not-so-fanboys won't really care much about older games imo. They're tougher to advertise too.
So if things go on so well i don't think they'll come before 2014. And while i would love see more GBA games on the 3DS i gotta say if considerably less VC games mean more time to make the the 3DS and especially the WiiU a killer platform i'm fine with that. Perfectly fine.
I've had a quick bash on quite a few of them so far. I must say that, as someone who never had a GBA, it's a terrific package of games. It also struck me with Yoshi's Island and Metroid Fusion that, graphically, some of these games aren't a million miles away from DS titles. The gameplay in all of them, (except F-Zero, but maybe I'll warm to it after more than 5 minutes play) is really good so far, so from my perspective this is a fantastic offering.
@127 Didn't think about that but my internet wont let me play DS games over wifi so that one slipped by.
Is it my imagination or there are a lot of mexican in this web? Greetings to all my country partners.
I´ll download the gba games in a moment.
overload!! so many games i have to play!! this feels like xmas to me... and for all the people whining, to bad for you that you didnt get what you want, that must be really hard...get something to think of... this supposed to be entertaining.
holy moly! Not now! I'm so busy and driving more than train, this awesome package is going to destroy my last little moments of free time. What a great gift. thanks so much nintendo! This Ambassador program was really a brilliant move for all of us who bought at launch, between 3d video and this my whining has really been appeased.
Very nice, time to download
Downloaded them at 6:30am. Suffice to say I didn't get much work done today!
Great selection.Thanks Nintendo
Already downloaded them, except Metroid Fusion, which I bought for 20€ months ago.
First on the list: Minish Cap. I've wanted it for a long time, I'm a happy gamer
Awesome! This is a sweet Christmas gift for us Ambassadors. Thank you Nintendo!
when did you guys get them??? i still don't have mine.... come on, nintendo of korea! why do we always get left behind...?
Who!!! Now I own all Mario Karts!!!!
I actually wish they did something else instead of Mario Kart. They just came out with Mario Kart 7.
Waking up to free games is always nice , they came out at about 1.30 here (But I was asleep lol.)
@ 5. Bass_X0 "The graphics quality isn't as good as playing the actual cartridges. They're not as clear as playing them on the GBA SP or DS Lite"
I COMPLETELY agree these games look terrible the colours are incorrectly displayed and the screen blurring/smudging is awful.
There are so many memes I could post here, but I won't.
Hurray~
I got the GBA games. I'm so happy that they're finally available.
i hope they actually sell these games on eshop for people who didnt get into the ambassador program. well at least some of them, i have most of the games on this list for gba.
Wow. I'm actually really impressed with the Ambassador program and I alraedy have 20 free games (only 14 that I really like) but I'm really liking it. I've been wanting to find my old cartridge for Super Circuit and I couldn't find it so I'm happy to be able to play that on my 3DS.
I'm not sure what it is. But there's something cozy about seeing GBA games becoming part of the virtual console...
Got them except Mario Kart: Super Circuit (already own it). So far loving the few I have played so far. I woke at 5:50 (mountain time) just to download them.
I saw that some of the gba reviews were gone for the ambassador games. Does that mean that these game will be reviewed?
I touched on all of them, now I'll likely play them one at a time.
I got them early this morning. Been having fun ever since !
140: Yeah maybe but Mario Kart GBA was the last actually really good one.
Accidentally woke up about 4:50 am so I went on the eShop to check and they were there, so I put them on sleep mode download and went back to sleep my self!
Mario Kart GBA is, imo, the worst of a (very) good bunch, though they all have good and bad points. Personally, my favourite is Double Dash, but probably since I grew up on it!
I think MK7 is great, but not as good as MKDS.
What a great selection. There was a lot of filler in the NES releases, but these are pretty much all golden. I am one happy ambassador today.
Look at me I guessed thy would release them in December and they said they would and they did I'm the coolest person on the Internet.
So do these have restore points like most of the downloadable games or are they like the NES Ambassitor games which I heard don't have restore points?
no restore points just normal saves like a ds game
Woohoo! I got my games! So Nintendo DID release them before the end of the year, as they had promised!
Thanks for the heads up, getting mine now!
Got them this morning, after playing them (again, since I have 9 of those carts) I think they are a much better, solid and diverse choice than the NES games. But still not perfect, I'd take M&LSS over FE any day, and most people wil agree F-Zero GP Legends > FZMV
I'm a little jelious with those that are recieving these free games since I bought my system on the day that it went down in price. But I'm still glad that I didn't pay the higher price.
Happy Holidays indeed! Nintendo is on top of things lately, I'm very pleased and impressed!
Two things:
1) Thanks much, Nintendo!!
2) I had no idea Fire Emblem was going to be so much fun.
I...AM...SO...MAD! I can't get these games, ans aech and every one of them are some of my all time FAVORITE games! GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
Wow just got a spotpass saying "The ambassador games are now available to download" way to fail NOA (in the future, release spotpass as soon as the games are out ok? ok.)
Just makes the whole Ambassador app totally worthless
omg when ur drunk this is the best mews EVER oh yeah i would appreciate this sober or not but this is awesome im gonna download these gba games first thang in the morning!!!!!! btw im listening to rag doll and rockin out!@@!
EDIT: nvr got into fire emblem but can't wait to!
@Teh-Ray LOL! "It's a secret to everybody. Take this." The only problem is I don't have a big piece of meat on a bone to hand you. Oh! lol Here, take some free GBA games instead.
Btw, @bonesy91 . I STILL haven't received my Spotpass notification! LOL. My games got downloaded exactly 24 hours ago in the U.S. and still no notification. Yep. Fail. Epic!
I entered my 3DS code yesterday because I was away for ages. It says I am still an ambassador but I cant download any of the games. Help please?
I've only done a short comparison with Minish Cap. Of course it looks stretched In full-screen mode. It's not that bad to me. But damn did it look crisp in its original resolution. I guess they must have looked like this on the Game Boy Micro. Yes the colors don't look as bright but so far i found the contrast too high on the DSlite so I actually prefer that. Sound seemed the same to me between the DSlite and the 3DS. Have to charge my GBA SP before i can test that - damn that dongle. All things considered i compare it to playing a home console. Depending on the TV you get a different picture.
Concerning the border a Game Boy Micro one would be hilarious and maybe put things into perspective for some of us.
Loving Fire Emblem so far, there's just so much here.
Also loving Super Mario Bros 3, Wario Land and Metroid Fusion.
My least favourite is probably Mario Kart, but that's mostly because I've played it before and unlike Minish Cap (which I've also played) once you've played it (and then played sequels to it) there isn't much that's exciting about super circuit.
luckily my friend illarion is a 3DS ambassador, so whenever i want to legally play mario kart super circut on a 3DS i know who to call
Wahoooooooooooooooooooooooooo
got mines
Played MK Super Circuit and Warioware so far. MK is not as good as I remember but its still good of course. Warioware is excellent. Let me get this striaght, no more GBA or NES Ambassador games will be released (ie. We won't have a choice of what 20 games we want to DL out of a larger numer)?
Speaking of the Ambassador Program, I'll be downloading the GBA games I want after I get my 3DS back from my parents – it hurts to be a minor, those meddling overlord scum – after not doing something I should have done (heh, heh…), but I wish that they would update the Virtual Console shell to support Sleep Mode, background communications, wireless multiplayer, and (for the GBA games) wireless importing of save files via a local WiFi connection to an original DS or DS Lite.
The original Yoshi is like something out of an Art Style game
I just got a 3ds via Ebay and I'd give the system an 8/10, because, although the graphics, sound, and memory all are better than ever, the buttons are sometimes stiff, and the general location of most buttons makes it increasingly awkward to play some games. And the circle pad is a little bad. Just a little. Still definitely worth the price, though, saying as there will probably be maybe 2 more retail DSi games before they just... STOP.
@142. XyVoX "I COMPLETELY agree these games look terrible the colours are incorrectly displayed and the screen blurring/smudging is awful."
The same applies to playing regular DS games on 3DS and PS1 games on PSP as well but let's face it, at least the games still works.
PS1 games play flawlesly on PSP. There is no problem with colours and textures and the games look vivid.
Some emulators on the Wii VC are also very good. I played a lot of games with no or with very minor problems.
But the GBA emulation on the 3DS is very very bad. The colours are not good, there is a lot of blur etc. The GBA games feel very rushed, I didn't mind to wait some months more for them if the outcome would be better. There is no way that they will be released in the general public in this state.
One or two of the games have the option from the original cart which allows for different colour etc for when you play them using the GBA player through your TV. That is one way to improve how they look and also as it is mentioned in the manuals you can play them in their original resolution but with a smaller screen.
In all honesty I didnt find the graphic emulation that bad with the exception of one or two issues but I dont like the sound quality, that doesnt sound too good through the 3DS hardware. I still play some of these titles on my old SP and they look and play fine on the 3DS but the sound quality bugs me a bit.
I think the Ambassador titles are great and early adopters definitely deserve them for free, but since I just bought my 3ds recently I'm completely out of luck. Myself and all the other new 3ds owners should at least have the option to buy these titles on the E Shop. Lots of folks feel left out of all this new game excitement. It is a real missed opportunity by Nintendo. I hope they fix it.
@belmont
you get what you get, and you don't throw a fit.
My GBA games look like they did on my Gameboy Advance. Maybe you should stick to Crash Bandicoot on your PSP.
I for one think they picked great games. F-Zero, MK Super Circuit, Zelda... and they're all with me at all times. Thank you, Nintendo!
I will say, however, that I hope they eventually add multiplayer and sleep mode. But either way, no big deal.
Nice that Nintendo finally released these, I was starting to wonder if nintendo was going to keep its promise.
But outside of Metroid Fusion the games look horrible on the 3ds, Wth happens to the backlight when I turn on a GBA game for example?! Pfff lazy nintendo as always..
Ive started feeling sorry for non-ambassadors now. There is a great selection of games. It left me thinking that as a comprise they could have them available individualy via reward code but of a higher value than current games on offer. That way Ambassadors still get a great deal and Nintendo Club members that have a chance of picking up some of these titles. Also because these are rewards and not for individual sale they dont have to address the issues such as lack of multiplayer.
@ 182. belmont well said mate no fanboyism here aswell as, when it aint right it aint right. The colours and screen blurring for me make it unplayable, and its nowhere near that Bad on any other format be it ds games on a 3Ds or VC games on the Wii etc this is most definitely the WORST of the lot by some margin.
The GBA games really don't look that bad (except Mario Kart), especially for free games. It's really been blown out of proportion, they're not even unplayable or anything. Yoshi's Island still looks great, and I really don't see what the huge problem is with others such as WarioWare and Fire Emblem. The way the games look are only (very) minor niggles.
Thinking about it, my 3DS must be different from everyone elses because the way some of you go on you'd think the games were an absolute mess. After trying Yoshi's Island again I can see that there is a little blur but it certainly isn't game-breaking or hideous.
@C-Olimar
Well, the GBA did have a lower screen resolution, so they gotta beef up the image to fit the 3DS screen, like they do when you play DS games on it.
Now had the chance to do a quick sound test with Minish Cap and i have to say it didn't sound worse than on the GBA SP to me. Admittedly i only have decent headphones and speakers though, not the very best.
@LEGEND_MARIOID(178.): Correct.
I found the sound quality isnt as good compared to the SP but almost as good as the original GBA. I still use the original GBA as a controller on my Gamecube it feels so much better than the SP. As far as backlighting goes you can alter the backlighting on yor 3DS before selecting the GBA game and im sure it remains as bright or as dim as you want it, this may help those with the colours not showing correctly.
Yoshi is sooooo happy and cutesy that I wanted to puke by the end of 1-1
i soooooo hope they put these on the eshop later i love gba!
