Re: Video: The 10 Best Zelda Games As Selected By You

@ULTRA-64, I take nothing "the wrong way". TP had everything that OoT had but was just more. I found it to be gorgeous visually, musically, thematically/cinematically. I haven't played it in years but I still recall the haunting mood of the snow area, the serenity of Lake Hylia and the fishing spot, the creepiness of the Twilight Realm and the antagonist Zant. I played on the Wii so the Wiimote was new and gave a new cool element. The final battle with Ganon was the best of any Zelda game to-date (most climaxes are short and simple). The goodbye scene with adult Midna was actually emotional, as was Link riding home after the credits. I am surprised to hear you don't find it to have been an emotional game as I found it to be the most. Cheers.

Re: Video: The 10 Best Zelda Games As Selected By You

TheAdrock

Good list. The margin of "favorability" in the top 4 are so slim that its legitimately hard to pick one over the other. I'd put TP higher, but again, they are all so good. Anybody who doesn't like TP (@bezerker99 , @Haxonberik) is someone I disagree with... Also I have to LOL at the people who don't like WW, seeing as hows its #2 which is only an indication that they simply don't get it.
Please knock it off with the insults — TBD

Re: Feature: Where Are The Super Nintendo 3D Classics?

TheAdrock

Yup. Nintendo has a literal money-printing-machine sitting idle with all their classic content. There is absolutely NO reason that N doesn't have an entire building of programmers bringing the classics up-to-date on the new systems (3DS and U). Srsly, just do it.

Re: Hardware Classics: Sega Master System

TheAdrock

My friend had one. It was ghey. Nobody wanted to play it. Rather play Kings Quest on his Tandy or Zelda on NES. Those were the good ol' days. Duck Tales and Double Dare after school, Hot Pockets and CapriSun..sigh (... I just shed a nostalgic tear...)

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Defends Wii U Prospects as Shigeru Miyamoto Highlights Nintendo's Creativity

TheAdrock

Oh please... so much spin. I just bought a Roko for $35 and it has more/better media channels than the U and Netflix works better on the Roku. I don't want to, and shouldn't have to, buy another device when the U could have provided all the same media benefits. No reason WHATSOEVER that Nintendo isn't working on stuff like that as well as everything else. Its called added value, and the U is grossly lacking in it.

Re: Talking Point: What We Want To See From Nintendo's Next Handheld

TheAdrock

Tablets are the best portable gaming devices. Period. I spend 100x more of my time playing Clash of Clans than I do playing the 3DS or the U combined. And I am in no way unique. This fact is all that Nintendo needs to know. Look how much money Supercell is making and recognize that you've missed that train.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Will Reveal New Hardware At This Year's E3

TheAdrock

Some stupid QoL thing that you can already get for your smartphone etc. Nothing new. Nintendo wastes resources on junk like this when they should be a) making new breakout U games, not just sequels to Mario, and b) designing a new dominant console for release at Christmas 2015. ... Nintendo used to have the most creative and breakthrough games, now its nothing but this "family" stuff on reboot. Family games are fine too, but isn't it time to respond to market pressures?

Re: Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure Could Have Been a Nintendo Exclusive

TheAdrock

This is just another example of N executives making horrible management decisions. Remember when Nintendo created the Playstation in partnership with Sony, then decided to back out at the last second, which angered Sony so much they chose to go solo with the PS. This Skylander farkup is only slightly less dumb.

Re: EA Boss Peter Moore Apologises For Frostbite's "Stupid" Wii U April Fools Prank

TheAdrock

@kensredemption , actually son, I'm a Nintendo fanboy like you and most of the people on here. I wish Nintendo would recapture their place as the leader in the video game market. We disagree on what Nintendo should do, but most of us want the same in the end: great games from Nintendo.

@Nintendude789 , your statement in nonsensical. The American market has rejected the Wii U no matter what you want to claim. They should move on and give the market what they want, which based on the sales figures from MS and Sony... well you figure it out.

@AJSjedi, sigh Believe what you want. Cling to a system that nobody is buying, nobody is deving for, and tell yourself that its all the boogieman's fault and people will somehow learn to love it eventually. You are deluded.

FYI, I hate MS and Sony, I'm a Nintendo only household, but they are simple behind the 8-ball for years now and no sign of catching up. And if you don't know this then you're just not paying attention. My comments are not for malice but for want of a Nintendo resurgence.

Re: Features: The Biggest 3DS Games of 2014 - Spring Edition

TheAdrock

@Chubblings , Uhm... 20 years in computer engineering, worked for NASA, Sun Microsystems, HP, et al... first off, N should already have been working on their next console for some years now since the U was released; second, yes they should be able to complete the design, manufacture, and release a new console in less than 3 years. NASA put men on the moon in 6 years from essentially zero. The atomic bomb was built in 3 years. A new home console is cake.

Re: Features: The Biggest 3DS Games of 2014 - Spring Edition

TheAdrock

No interest here...

@rjejr , Hope so. You say a Wii U sequel in 3 years (2017)? Speculation? Frankly if I were in charge I'd be red-lining the Nintendo development teams to have a new console for this Christmas 2014. It shouldn't take 3 years to dev a new console and if it does then N has gotten too big, too slow, and too stagnant.

Re: Soapbox: Ignoring The Objectification Of Women In Games Won't Make the Problem Go Away

TheAdrock

@JohnRedcorn I don't disagree with you, except that "men as hyper aggressive, musclebound meatheads" is a stereotype not a sexual objectification. But certainly men are viewed as sex objects as are women — and rightly so. If not then the species would die out. Men go to strip joints and women go to the male review... not for an emotional connection but to see sexual objects. These are just facts of nature that naive feminists wish to pretend doesn't exist, meanwhile they paint their nails too...

Re: Super Smash Bros. Director Masahiro Sakurai Seems To Quite Like The PS4

TheAdrock

@SCAR392 "...if Wii U is old tech, then so are the Xbox One and PS4."
Wii U hardware is comparable to PS3 & 360 but came out SEVEN YEARS LATER! Comparing the U to the PS4 is like comparing 8-bit to 16-bit.

People keep saying that all the U needs is some great games... yeah well where is this library of "great" games that are driving the sales of PS4? crickets
Oh right, its a media conspiracy to "keep down" Nintendo... except in the case of the DS that theory falls apart.

All I'm saying (and have been saying) is that Nintendo is way behind Sony in terms of technology and IMO they should be spending boat loads of that war chest to catch up or they will become Blackberry faster than you think.

Re: Hacking Group Claims To Have Discovered Wii U Homebrew Exploit

TheAdrock

@FireHorsePrime, I know what you're sayin. In the late 80s their slogan was "Now you're playing with power"; you could play Capcom arcade games at home; they had the Powerglove (which nobody bought but it sure seemed cool); there was the NES Advantage controller (for real arcade feel), and the NES MAX for button mashing speed, etc. Their commercials were everywhere. N was able to get all the 3rd party devs and the public perception was that NES was power. None of those qualities apply to N today. Everybody knows the U is the weakest console, 3rdP devs aren't taking the risk, and nobody has seen a decent commercial for the U in months. (I'm 40 and watch Cartoon Network often.)

@Chris720 "They really need to come out with all fists swinging if they want to be on top again." Yup. The market wants great games, but it also seems to want great graphics, so why not deliver what people want? I think the U is deadman walking at this point and I only hope they pour some cash into bringing out a new console that will attract all the 3PD. "Build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door." Microsoft and Sony aren't going to have a new console for at least another 5 years (?) so launch a better mousetrap ASAP so all the FPS and FLOPs geeks can j**k each other off about it.
A Nintendo console that was as easy to dev and port as PS or Xbox, had better performance values than those, could play all the Nintendo games that we all love, had no monthly service fee, Wiimotes, Gamepad, and could function as a true media hub with DVR option... how could it not dominate? Sorry for the long rant.

Re: Hacking Group Claims To Have Discovered Wii U Homebrew Exploit

TheAdrock

@Chris720 Yes. Bridge the gap and all that, but also be a central media hub for your TV room. TVii sucks; the U is so slow that if I want to look up something on the internet or Youtube by the time the U's browser starts I could have gotten up, grabbed by Android phone, done my search, and watched the video; my $99 Sony BluRay player has more free streaming content than the U; using the Gamepad as a TV remote / show grid directory would be excellent... if it worked. Among other failings of the U. The U would have been a great console in like 2009-10, but they sat on the Wii for too long and lost traction. I long for Nintendo to revisit what made them great in the 80s-90s: top tier hardware with top tier games. Nobody could ever claim that the Wii or the U was anything other than underpowered hardware from the start.

Re: Nintendo Still Seeking a Product to Define the GamePad, With Hopes of Sales Driving Third-Party Support

TheAdrock

@Mr_G, Hey Nintendo, give this man a job. 3DS as an alternate Wii U controller is a f***ing great idea.
I'm fine with the Gamepad, but its Nintendo's job to make it do something awesome which so far hasn't happened. Its the perfect tool for total home theater control, browsing TV shows etc, but TVii just sucks and pretty much doesn't work. Where's the add-on to make the U function as a DRV? Netflix and Hulu is fine, but what about the 200 other streaming services: HBO Go, Crackle, Pandora, YouTube (doesn't work), Vudu, MGo, et al. Chromecast is $30 and has access to everything in the world. Look at volume of media available on Sony. Why is this hard for Nintendo to understand? To get people interested N needs to add value.

Re: Guest Blog: Shut up! Nothing is Wrong With The Nintendo Wii U!

TheAdrock

WELL SAID. I have no disagreements. However, this one fact "For Triple A developers it will be hard to add Nintendo Wii U capabilities to their current Engine, Framework and pipeline," is a big problem IMO. Next console ought to be a cinch for devs to move their game from one system to another.

Re: Netflix Wii U App Update Goes Live

TheAdrock

Weak update.
Still no "auto-play the next show in the series" (which is perfect for little kids while parents are trying to sleep on Sunday morning). Xbox version has had this feature for 2+ years.
