Duh. Isn't this entirely obvious to everybody outside of Nintendo? Which is why I say: start developing a new console IMMEDIATELY, for release at Christmas 2015.
Learn your lessons from this U failure, and come back strong with a system that actually does what you had hoped this would do.
Its not the only issue, but its part of it. I don't know anybody who thinks its a good name. Names are important as they need to communicate what the product is. "Play Station", "Xbox", "Game Cube", "Nintendo Entertainment System"... these all give your mind an instant understanding of what it is.
What the H is a "WiiU" and how do you even say it? Is it a dichotomy; both "we" and "you"? Its unclear.
But names aside, if the system had revolutionary hardware that broke new ground and could handle all 3rd party engines for the next 5+ years then it would have caught people's attention. As I've said, WiiU is about 3 years too late to market.
Nice. Long story short: yet again Nintendo failed to plan ahead. IMO they ought to be designing TODAY the next blockbuster console to be released at Christmas 2015. A 3 year life cycle on this U is enough, now think ahead and get moving. And don't name it a "Wii anything".
I got DuckTales over the weekend. Its a fun game. I might have liked some more content, but I'm not complaining. Those other titles are uninteresting to me however.
I predict epic bombing, like Lone Ranger & John Carter recently. Obviously I haven't played it, but to judge a book by its cover, there just aren't any really cool characters. Skylanders has cool characters. What kids want to play the role of Monsters U guys, or Phineas and Ferb, or even Pirates? Maybe the Cars guys or Toy Story would catch some younger interest, but I just don't see kids going ape sh** like they do for Skylanders.
EDIT: I'm a classic Disney fan, not a hater. Where's the girl toys, like Mermaid and those chicks? Peter Pan and/or Jake and the Neverland Pirates might have caught some traction.
I have a Nintendo to play Zelda and Mario, and a few others. And for watching movies (Netflix, Amazon, etc). I have an Xbox360 to watch Game of Thrones (on HBO Go). If they would port HBO Go to the U then I would sell that pos Xbox.
She is right! Frankly they should ALREADY be designing their next console right now with plans to release at Christmas 2015. How about an amped up horsepower monster with an emulator that can run Xbox and PS games? Too edge? (And don't call it another variant of "Wii", that just confused stupid people.)
Yeah so don't use traditional controls. With some creativity N could make smartphone titles that work well for that platform. It doesn't REPLACE a console but why not explore some options. ??
Yeah I can see that, but come on... utilize those cash reserves and hire new programmers, contract new projects to outside developers, blitz to makeup for the unforseen setbacks. Its not just the slow start, but their slow response to the slow start. It appears that N seems to think they have all the time in the world, but they don't.

@Mattstewto , and you would know this how? You've never even played WW or MM.

Re: Peter Molyneux Reveals His Favourite Zelda Title Of All Time
I agree. But its really SO close being how the top 5 Zeldas are all neck-and-neck in awesomeness. (BTW, Skyward isn't even on my list.)
@Caryslan , what you said 100%. Skyward is a child's game, for 5 year olds. Twilight is for teens and adults.
Re: Wii U Name Isn't To Blame For Poor Sales, Says Reggie
@Luigifan141 , lulz @ the dumb news people. I like how she calls it "two-dees". WTF.
Re: Nintendo's Scott Moffitt: 3DS and Vita Have Very Different Strategies For Portable Play

Clever.
Re: Video: Players Give Their Opinions On Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Zelda's are always a winner. WW haters are just dumb.
Re: Say Hello To The Nintendo 2DS - A 3DS without 3D
Its for poor kids. If it folded up, and was in the XL size, I'd say its a good idea, but as it stands it looks like a fail.

Re: Ludosity's Ittle Dew Was Pitched to Nintendo as a Zelda Game
@Grubdog , you are OFFENDED? Really, or are you feigning sarcasm? Offended by mimicry is a new one for me.
I'll take all the Zelda I can get, even if its merely "inspired by". Originality is over-rated.

Re: Review: DuckTales: Remastered (Wii U eShop)
@ricklongo , I'll give that a try. Also, only one game (saved) at a time? Not sure why that makes any sense.
Re: Review: DuckTales: Remastered (Wii U eShop)
Love the shows. This game is decent so far. I wish you could skip all the talking sequences.

Having read your review I didn't expect 6/10. Seem higher than it deserves (again, just from what I read).
Re: Video: UK Comic Rufus Hound Explains The Wii U Difference
Lame. You know what will explain the U really well? Some really fun games that everybody wants to play.
Re: Nintendo Most Likely To Produce Gaming-Centric Tablet, Says Game Designer Jesse Schell
@Mortenb I see what you did there.
Re: Nintendo Most Likely To Produce Gaming-Centric Tablet, Says Game Designer Jesse Schell
A gamepad tablet with integrated controls and can easily attach to your TV — REVOLUTIONARY! If only Nintendo would have thought of that...

Re: Rumour: The Wind Waker HD May Have An Additional Difficulty Level
@Peek-a-boo , an HD remaster of any Zelda game is worth the price.

I'll buy it.

@datamonkey Those Hungarian flood were really bad, bro.
No, they are saying that the tsunami slowed down N's development of games for the U.

Re: First Impressions: Disney Infinity
My immediate impression is that none of those characters are interesting to me.
Re: Weirdness: Mike Tyson Was Rubbish at Punch-Out!!
Great game back in '87. I never got past Super Macho Man tho, and no way to get the cheats back then.
Re: Nintendo Finally Confirms Call of Duty: Ghosts Is Coming To Wii U
Do people still play that game? yawn
But more content for U is always good... even if its a lame FPS like this franchise.
Re: Nintendo Download: 25th July (North America)
Loved Kid Icarus... but its so hard.
