Re: Miyamoto: Zelda Wii U Was Considered For Display At This Year's E3

@krunchykhaos, Hey bro, you know that I'm just ribbin' ya... right? Its all in good fun. Maybe you can't read sarcasm well. BTW, I fact checked my earlier statement and it was indeed true. WW is better than SS. Its been scientifically proven.

@skjia, While the entire Zelda line are chock full of excellent games, TP might be my favorite... but so hard to pick just one fave.

I can't separate a game as it stands today from the whole experience of the time in which it was released (played), and each major Zelda release (with the exception of SS, which was practically garbage) is always so good. Side-by-side today, the orig 8-bit LoZ isn't as good as TP, but in 1986 it was effing amazing, and so it goes with each generation... including WW (excluding SS).

And krunchy, its all good clean fun. Don't be mad.

Re: Miyamoto: Zelda Wii U Was Considered For Display At This Year's E3

TheAdrock

@krunchykhaos And I'm quite sure that you couldn't be more wrong. And since I've been playing Zelda since 1986 (NES) and ever iteration since, and all my friends who I've grown up with still play and love Zelda all agree with me... I'd say your "surveyed numbers" are flawed. SS is garbage; WW is a gem. Obviously we're all entitled to our subjective opinions, but anybody who disagrees with my opinion is wrong.

Re: Talking Point: The Legend of Zelda: Remakes of the Past

TheAdrock

@Moviefan2k4 , yeah I knew what you meant. I was agreeing... then I was commenting that there's no good reason that N couldn't re-render those Wii Zelda's in HD with no other changes. It would literally take one programmer about a week to re-render those for U, and they could just print money. Just saying.

Re: Talking Point: The Legend of Zelda: Remakes of the Past

TheAdrock

@Moviefan2k4 , what he said.

It would be a cinch for them to re-render Twilight and/or Skyward in HD. Don't have to change anything about the game or controls, just re-render it for the U. They'll sell a ton with nearly zero development cost. I cannot imagine nor explain why this isn't happening right now.

Re: Consumers Go Crazy For Wii U Following Xbox One Reveal

TheAdrock

1. I hope the U kills it and their rivals fail.
2. I also hope Nintendo offers an upgraded CPU for the U... U2, U squared, whatever. GPU seems fine, but CPU should handle more flop/s.

I've wondered for years now why the CPU in these consoles isn't upgradable as a removable slotted cartridge device. Remove two screws, pull the stock proc, plug in a faster one. (Proc could easily be encased in a plastic housing to be "idiot" proof.) Game makers could account for this: "Supports Wii U with the Wildcat processor upgrade" or something. Could easily be done.

Re: Need For Speed Rivals Not Screeching Onto Wii U

TheAdrock

@CaPPa , I'm gullible? I'm only citing what reverse engineering specialists have concluded: "We've seen substantial performance dips on CPU-specific tasks." ... "We can now, categorically, finally rule out any next-gen pretensions for the Wii U." ... https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/02/gpu_images_reveal_wii_u_graphical_power
The fact is that the U's CPU is weak for a new console in 2013. If they had released the U four years ago like they should have, then it'd would have been sweet, but they're way late to the HD gaming party. If it can't even run Frostbite now with the U being brand new, why would you think it will hang in there for the next several years of new gaming? I don't see the big deal with giving the U a clockspeed upgrade.
As for the suspected price of the upcoming Xbox & PS4... industry analysts say: "What we’ve been told by Microsoft and Sony call for the next-generation systems to have a lower opening price point than they did last cycle."
... http://www.pcworld.com/article/2039700/gamestop-xbox-one-will-be-priced-less-than-the-xbox-360.html
Again, before you call me names, perhaps inform yourself?

Re: Need For Speed Rivals Not Screeching Onto Wii U

TheAdrock

Why couldn't Nintendo just bring out "Wii U 2" with appropriate CPU enhancements? Acknowledge the weaknesses of the current U, make some upgrades/tweaks, and move on. It already can't hang with current Xbox, so give it a horsepower upgrade! (I know EA doesn't matter all that much, but I worry that the perception among studios will only get worse.)

" it delights in repeatedly tripping you up and seemingly mocking your ineptitude — yet you keep coming back for more. That, ladies and gentlemen, is the hallmark of a classic video game."
Ain't that the TRUTH! Ahh.. the good ol' days. That's why I forced my children to start video gaming with only the classic NES and SNES games, vintage Sierra Online computer games, etc. Keep 'em sharp.

Re: Talking Point: The Wii U's Next-Gen Challenge Starts to Take Shape

TheAdrock

XboxOne: can't play old Xbox games, can't take game discs to a friend's house, can't use XboxOne unless connected to the internet (what about rural buyers?), must continue to pay MS a fee to connect to the internet which makes it a monthly user fee just to use the darn thing... unless I'm incorrect, or unless they change these features, I'd say this new Xbox is a total failure out the gate!

Re: Former Rockstar Producer Considers the Challenges Facing Home Consoles

TheAdrock

Agreed. IMO, Sony will fall away. Remember, Playstation only got life because Nintendo co-developed it then walked away at the last second. Nintendo GAVE Sony life in the console arena. Not to mention that Sony just isn't the electronics kingpin they once were, and the Japanese economy as a whole is suffering badly. Nintendo on the other hand has so much quality IP that it will propel them until their next innovation hits with the market, plus they are still strong in the portable market. Xbox doesn't even have to make money because MS will subsidize the system just to stay in that market. My $0.02.

Re: Rumour: Wii U Sold Less Than 40,000 Units In North America In April

TheAdrock

@dumedum You don't have young kids then, LOL. Sunday morning, parent turns on the Netflix show at 6am, goes back to bed, :20 min later the 3 year old kid is waking you up asking to start the next episode. Point is that ALL the other systems have had this feature for a year, except Nintendo. Nintendos are "family" console, right? Its not a big deal, its just one of the many straws on the camel's back.

Re: Rumour: Wii U Sold Less Than 40,000 Units In North America In April

TheAdrock

Step 1. Release interesting (original?) games, or at least new titles for games we already like. Remember when Super Mario Bros and Legend of Zelda were fresh, new, original concepts and they blew up the NES? All they seem to do is reboot old titles anymore — is there no new creativity?
Step 2. Make the TVii work like they said it would, with every device, every service, seamlessly and easily. If I want to watch Game of Thrones (HBO Go) I still have to fire up that piece of crap Xbox360 system (worst console EVAR). Netflix post-play feature is still only on Xbox version.
Step 3. Cut the price.
You're welcome, Nintendo.

Re: Rumour: Deadpool Could Be Heading To Wii U

TheAdrock

@WiiURockz , I assume its because there's a huge existing market of PS3 and 360 owners, but the U market is so tiny that its not economical to invest in a port to that platform. The original Wii outsold the Wii U in April.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Mixed Week With Wii U Third-Party Support

TheAdrock

Went into a Gamestop last week on a whim. No Wii U on display, the entire U selection of product was on a tiny rack the size of my kitchen stove, virtually no representation. If I had wanted to see what a Wii U looked like, there were none around to see.
So the game stores and 3rd party publishers are ignoring the U because its not selling, and the public has no interest (or awareness) due to no advertising and no product — downward spiral/vicious circle. Even Nintendo fans aren't buying it. Seems to me that Nintendo should be doing what they can control: releasing new exciting Nintendo titles ASAP. Get the ball rolling somehow. Old Capcom remakes and VC ports isn't going to do that IMO. What's the big Nintendo title coming out this Christmas... Zelda Windwaker remake?! A 10 year old game that didn't sell very hot the first time around...
I'm an extremely casual gamer btw.
EDIT: This article seems correct in my estimation: http://www.itechpost.com/articles/9423/20130518/nintendo-wii-u-next-dreamcast.htm

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Mixed Week With Wii U Third-Party Support

TheAdrock

@Slapshot I totally agree with that analysis. Which is why they should be pulling out all stops to get NEW U content ready for this Christmas. Ducktales and Zelda remakes are nice, but not going to light the market on fire. Frankly this sort of planning should have been happening 2 years ago. This "crisis" with the U was entirely avoidable had they planned for new original exciting titles. Zelda U is scheduled no sooner than Christmas 2014?!
