I had a similar story happen myself with Yokai Watch. Back when the anime had first started airing in Japan I watched a few minutes and then passed on it. Then I started hearing about how it blew up in Japan and got curious about what was so addicting about it. That's when I got addicted to it myself and started catching up with the anime and following it's oversea release ever since.
Yeah I'm looking forward to using him in game too. I wonder when he'll be added to WibWob overseas as in Japan it was through a password that the English version doesn't even have the option for yet.
Do you use Steam by the way? I'd love to talk with another fan of Yokai Watch.
Signed up, not getting my hopes up of being picked, but I did give Ingress a shot for a bit. I was a bit surprised there was actually other players in the area as it's not a busy city kind of place.
@Vegaphil I think they should have separated development between the 3 properties. Instead of it being each version focusing on one brand, focus on all of them, but just do less figures per version upgrade. For examples labels like "Disney Infinity: Classic Heroes & Villians Collection" "Disney Infinity: Pixar Collection" "Disney Infinity: Star Wars Collection" "Disney Infinity: Marvel Collection" and "Disney Infinity: Modern Hits Collection" (the last being for their more recent films they're advertising not under the other brands)
Making miifotos is actually pretty fun and you don't even have to have a mii in it to be able to post them either. I was surprised how large they were when exporting one too as I was expecting it to be mobile size only. I like that they included various colored hand shapes so you could give your mii hands if you wanted to (like a thumbs up)
While the questions are a bit repetitive, and sometimes they just outright repeat the question I know I answered already, there's more wiggle room than I was expecting. I've seen some pretty amusing comment threads already. Hopefully they'll add a larger variety in the future though. I was waiting for a favorite movie quote question for example and didn't see any yet.
I like the Mii Drop idea, and I hope they'll add more mini games like that later on. Just wish there wasn't so much candy though, I'd rather have a smaller clothing option than that.
I love all the customization options they have, and I'd like it if they expanded it to rooms in the future like in Tomodachi life, especially since your friends can visit your room too.
I find adding a bunch of people (through asking each other to follow each other on twitter on miitomo sites) actually helped, as while some aren't as close, I've run into people with similar interests I wouldn't have met otherwise. Also makes getting those daily goals easier for those only in it for that. I've already got Zelda picross, but I still check in daily to see what's going on.
@rjejr I have a Japanese mother as an online pen pal and when I mentioned how Pokemon was more popular in the US she said how that "was quite an old anime" (it has been 20 years after all) and that Yo-kai Watch is what the kids are into there.
That doesn't mean Pokemon isn't doing well at all there, just that Yo-kai Watch is more popular currently. (Obviously I like both series going by my name and avatar lol)
I'm looking forward to when they bring over Yo-kai Watch 2 as it fixes a lot of the issues of the first game as well as adding a ton of new content. I think the reviews for that game will be better, and might get more people into the series.
At first by the "& Friends" title I thought it was going to be more amiibo than Mario and DK. At least they give an option to other amiibo owners, but yeah I think they could have added a bit more to make this game feel more unique from past ones.
@rjejr They're going to announce another fighter soon if that counts.
@AGuyWithFood I don't get why it's cool to hate on adventure online now. I think people exaggerate how bad the bad parts are. While 06 may have been a failed attempt at making another one, that doesn't mean the adventure idea in itself is bad. (Also still waiting for another Chao Garden, even if it never comes)
What if they did a remake of Sonic Adventure 1/2 but with the Generations system? I wonder if people would buy that. lol
The whole thing with Chaos's design being changed makes me wonder what else was changed due to limitations at the time (I'd buy anything that had another chao garden though. I've been waiting for so many years for it. I wish they gave chao it's own raising game, they could still have the Sonic characters in it.)
I think while the year had it's up and downs, the good made up enough for the bad for me. I'd like to think this year will help Nintendo in the future by allowing them to set up a new IP, possibly a new series of games, an imported IP that could possibly be a big success in the future, as well as give upcoming games the development time they need to be truly great, instead of just good like this year was.
I hope they get that reward system out quickly though as I missed collecting free rewards for supporting their products since Club Nintendo went down. Thanks to my own error I didn't even get my gift for reaching Gold, but I'm not too upset about that as it was my own misunderstanding. I do have high hopes for this year for Nintendo, although I'm not quite sure what to expect yet.
@Chrono1973 What I meant is it's similar to the otaku market. With anime people always ask why is it priced so high, but it's because there's a small group of people that will buy it for that price. So with that small group of people they can stay afloat by selling fewer copies at a higher price. In other words for Nintendo those otaku are Nintendo fans who continue to support them.
@khaosklub Maybe the reason Nintendo products never go on sale is because they have to deal with a smaller fan base than microsoft and sony? As in because microsoft and sony have more players they can afford to price games for lower, while the install base on nintendo is much smaller so they need every bit they can get.
Streetpass has achievements, but when it's just "you did this" without any points for it, it seems less rewarding.
Maybe they could tie achievements into their point system as a way of rewarding the costumer for playing their games and giving an incentive to unlock achievements beyond bragging rights.
@OorWullie If they ever do add slopes the first thing I'm doing is editing one of my existing levels to have them. (and checkpoints since I made it back around when the game first came out)
Morgan Sleeper's got the right idea! ^^ Yo-kai Watch has been a blast finally getting to play after following the Japanese anime episodes for about a year now.
@DekuOnion I don't see why they wouldn't bring the movies unless the series didn't do well here. Even if it doesn't get a theater release they'd probably air it on TV or something like they do with the new pokemon movies.
>even one of a random Japanese game show host Please. Just because you aren't educated enough to know who they are doesn't make them "random". Also while they host a show about games it's not a game show in the sense of how it's usually used. The show has been really popular and has been running for over 10 years in Japan. There was one overseas release, but since then fans have been fansubbing it to share with people who can't speak Japanese.
@MitchVogel I'm glad you enjoyed Yo-kai Watch too at least.
I think people might be more open to it when the 2nd game releases as it'll have been around longer then and it improve on a lot of the issues people have with the original game.
@Takerkaneanite6 That partly might be because of what channels you're watching. The Wii U is more likely to be advertised on channels aimed at kids and family like Cartoon Network and Disney Channel than during WWE.

@crystaletter You get extra content in YW2 for having the save data on your 3DS. But it's completely up to you if you want it or not.

@PlywoodStick I've seen some sites having products listed as "Specter Watch"

Re: Yo-kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits & Fleshy Souls Arrive in North America on 30th September
I'm excited! The 2nd game has a lot of improvements plus more online gameplay so I can't wait to play it myself.
I'm interested to see if more people will start checking out YW once the 2nd game is out and the Pokemon 20th hype calms down.

The only exclusive yokai are the 5 jewel nyans where you get an item for them to appear from their toy metals. Overseas these aren't out yet though.
Re: Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing Franchises Are Heading to Smart Devices

Also guess this means we'll get Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing content in Miitomo at some point as cross promotion.

@SmaMan Huge would be an understatement. 1st movie was last December, they already confirmed a 3rd movie for December 2016.
Re: More People In Japan Saw Yo-Kai Watch The Movie 2 Than Star Wars: The Force Awakens Over The Last Weekend
Now if only I could see Yo-kai Watch movie 2 without having to wait for bluray, unlike Star Wars...
On another note I enjoyed the 1st movie, but I think splitting the 2nd movie into 5 stories like this could be interesting too.
