Re: Square Enix's Final Fantasy 3DS Game is a Little Off-Beat

Squiggle55

gross. rhythm. why don't they just make babysitting/cooking final fantasy. At this point I see this as a pretty clear initial statement that Square Enix's attitude and business plan towards Nintendo products hasn't changed. Hopefully this is just a throwaway offshoot and a nice RPG is still in production.

Re: 3D Classics Urban Champion Coming to Brawl on eShop Soon

Squiggle55

@ LTD
oh man, if they do a quality SNES game as a 3D classic, like Earthbound, I would pay retail price for it.

I read somewhere that they started these 6 games in 2009, and there are only 3 left to be revealed. If it takes that much work and there will be a break before they release more, I can't imagine they wouldn't release at least 1 good game — like a Super Mario Bros. 3.

Re: These Are Your Club Nintendo Elite Rewards

Squiggle55

@Yosher certainly people have the right to feel disappointed if they bought a lot of videogames just for a platinum reward, but only with themselves. As many people have said you should not be buying games you don't like just to get a free trinket. Just like you shouldn't go buy Hanna Montana's Cooking Frenzy for the PS3 just to get more trophies. But that's besides the point because this reward is actually pretty cool, and they're sending it to me for free for doing absolutely nothing that I wouldn't have done anyway.

Re: Iwata Tells Shareholders "Core Gamers Will Accept Wii U"

Squiggle55

Iwata is dead on I think. The biggest problem was the controller. It was seen as a gimmick. I would much rather hold the ps3 controller. And he is wise in pointing out that the new controller isn't as big or heavy as it looks - because it better be easy and comfortable to use. and as Zach said, better advertising will help a ton, and not calling it Wii U will help too.

Re: Rumour: The Mercenaries 3D to be Recalled in Australia

Squiggle55

I typically buy new games anyway. I've already made peace with the idea that digital content is the future and the present state of being able to sell your old games and buying used will probably completely disappear in my lifetime. hey, I guess it's better for the environment and the game companies. who am I to complain.

Re: First Impressions: Nintendo Wii U

Squiggle55

@JettiBlue You're right about HD and 3rd party that's all great news, and I like a controller with a screen on it. I'm a little concerned about the price of the new controller though, and I'll be disappointed if it's completely unaffordable to have multiple controllers. Makes me worry about the state of local multiplayer b/c I don't want a lot of games compatible with only 1 new controller and 3 wiimotes/nunchucks. I just want this sweet HD machine and 4 new cool controllers with screens and, most importantly, no wiimotes in sight.

How about a brand new Zelda 4 Swords adventure, and everyone has their own screen for their inventory. That's the wii 2 game I want.

@Corbs Thanks for all your first impressions this week. Although it does just make the wait that much harder for all of those great 3DS games. and I understand being hesitant about the new console, but as long as everyone gets a screen and developers avoid incorporating touch mechanics and whatnot just for the sake of it then everything will be great.

Re: First Impressions: Nintendo Wii U

Squiggle55

I actually agree WaveBoy, I think you might have stumbled upon one of the things that bothered me about the reveal — too much attention on the controller and none on the console. It's the console that I wanted to get excited about and focusing on the controller and naming it Wii U gives off that gimmicky vibe that I didn't want to feel. Ultimately I think it was just a bad way of revealing it and that's all.

I'm still going to buy it and I'm sure it'll be great, but from hence forth I refuse to say Wii U. From now on it's Wii 2.

Re: Wii U and Its Controller Near Their Final Form Factor

Squiggle55

I still like that photoshopped early guess at what the controller would look like. I really like the idea of a nice comfortable playstation-looking controller with a 3 inch screen for everyone. I do like the idea of playing your game on a nice big screen if someone else wants the TV, but I can't think of another reason to want to hold that huge thing besides that.

Re: Wii U Hopes to Rectify Problems that Wii is Experiencing

Squiggle55

I know I'll love the new console, but i'm still disappointed in it still being called Wii. I know they aren't out to please me because I'll buy it anyway, but it's still lame.
I was also hoping to see the wiimote and nunchuck disappear. let it be backwards compatible with them and everything but just give me one normal controller please.

It's not too late! name it Nintendo HD and release nice pretty optional controllers more like this: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2011/04/rumour_wii_2_to_cost_usd350_support_3dtvs_out_in_october

Re: 3DS Users Will Soon Have 25,000 Hotspots to Connect To

Squiggle55

does this news about free hotspots mean that we don't have to worry about signing in to these hotspots through a browser in order to just walk past mcdonalds or in a mall with the 3DS in sleep mode and get spotpass updates? because if i'm not mistaken all of these hotspots were already free for everybody so that's confusing.

Re: Another Zelda Remake for 3DS?

Squiggle55

@alexsays
i'm sorry you're so bothered about this. and it's certainly your choice not to buy ocarina of time or starfox or a link to the past. i'm equally baffled by someone becoming so enraged about A Link to the Past in 3D. i would be equally as happy with news of a sequel, but of course the problem is I might not like it. Like I said I'd much rather play A link to the past than twilight princess. I see no problem at all with Nintendo outsourcing a proven fantastic game to another studio like they did with ocarina and letting me replay it in 3D. It's like a more expensive virtual console with the whole new way of seeing something you love. I really don't see anything to complain about when Nintendo has another studio enhance their golden games to attract people to the 3DS with proven winners, unless you think I'm paying too much for a game I already own, but that's my business. And you're right I think getting rid of most cars would be great for the earth

Re: Another Zelda Remake for 3DS?

Squiggle55

@ corbs
that sounds like a pretty good ratio to me. and with the new technology i'm very happy to see the remakes at this time because of games like starfox that will really benefit and feel new. can't wait for that one.

Re: Another Zelda Remake for 3DS?

Squiggle55

i'm very pro remake and retro for the record. new games are lame. i didn't much like twilight princess and don't even know what the heck is going on with Mega Man legends and what not and mario galaxy isn't necessarily my cup of tea either. folks can complain all they want, but geez nobody is forcing you to buy anything. Let the nostalgic enjoy themselves. I'm going to eat it up because these remakes are exactly what I want.

Re: Harvest Moon: A Tale of Two Towns Coming to DS and 3DS

Squiggle55

hooray! i hope Harvest Moon eventually takes advantage of some 3ds features like streetpass and online visiting other people's towns or trading or multiplayer or anything like that. I'd be way more excited about a Harvest Moon than an Animal Crossing if that was the case.

Re: Review: Rayman 3D (3DS)

Squiggle55

thanks for another review, I'm tempted by this title. The fact that it's basically just a port doesn't bother me at all because I've never played it.

Re: Nintendo Uncertain Whether 3DS Demos will be Worth the Effort

Squiggle55

I'd be really disappointed to not receive all of the demos we've imagined, but this is certainly an interesting business question. I think it's hard to say if demos drive up sales. Who's to say if it's more work than it's worth? I think demos for average games could arguably hurt sales. Of course we want free demos, why wouldn't we? But I've been on the fence about plenty of the games we got demos for and decided NOT to buy it because of the demo.

but then there are people who decide to purchase games after the demo and people who are introduced to the eshop channel alltogether because of the demos. I just hope for our sake they give us what we want.

Re: Review: Pilotwings Resort (3DS)

Squiggle55

This is definitely the game to show off the 3D power. Fly directly at a mountain with the 3D turned off and you don't know how far away you really are. Turn the 3D back on and you can actually see how far away you are. Everyone should at least try it out at Best Buy or something even if they don't want to buy this one because it really shows off the possibilities.
