You misunderstand. I'm not mad. I don't have that kind of mental energy. I simply saw their decision, realized it was stupid, and took matters into my own hands
@Arkay
Nintendo isn't my mom. It's my switch and I can do what I want with it. I have no more respect for Nintendo than I do for politicians. They can ban me from buying games if they want, but that's not going to stop me from playing their games. The only one losing anything is them losing a few hundred dollars from me.
When I was a jobless kid, I pirated my games because I had no other way to play them. Now that I'm an adult the only one not getting paid is Nintendo because they won't let me pay them. Sucks for them because I typically enjoy their games the most.
For me, it was the script changes, dialog being unskippable, and 30 fps compared to the original 60. I don't think I'll ever go back to the remake after my first playthrough.
@Jireland92 I am gonna play it. Just on an emulator at 60 FPS. I own a Switch because I like to own physical things I guess? Idk I bought it like 7 years ago and it used to be the only way to play these games. Also, if I'm running into emulator compatibility issues, I can just run it on the original hardware. A switch is a nice little device with Custom Firmware too. Lots of cool emulators you can load on it.
If it's true that this is a 30 FPS game, then I'm just gonna buy a physical copy and emulate it. I was okay with 30 when the switch came out, but I'm older now and am greatly sensitive to the choppiness of 30
@ModdedInkling I hope they don't. The switch appears increasingly dated with each month it's on the market. Back in 2017, I was fine with 720p games at 30fps. In 2022, I barely touch my switch just because any game I want to play is much more enjoyable on nearly anything else. Even first party Nintendo games generally play better on PC. 4GB Ram, and a 1.02 ghz cpu is not enough anymore. Especially with the steamdeck on the market. The next APU they use has got to be comparable with modern smartphones at the bare minimum. The Snapdragon 8 gen 1 has an 8 core CPU and even the lowest performing cores are clocked at nearly twice the speeds of the 4 cores in the Tegra x1. I don't know how committed Nintendo is to Nvidia, but AMDs RDNA platform looks like a much better bet moving forward.
But what do I know. Numbers don't lie, and Nintendo's salsa are still high. I just wish I found myself choosing the Nintendo system more than I actually do.
@okeribok
this is THE WORST post I've seen on this thread because it is so ill informed. For future reference, if you don't know a lot about a topic, do a quick Google search to confirm if what you're saying is true.
You do not need a switch emulator to do this. It works on console that has custom firmware installed.
You can dump legally obtained copies of any game with any switch (including lite and OLED) on any update.
Piracy is a nearly a non issue for people who have hacked their switches. Your numbers are backwards. I don't know the number and I can't remember where to find it; but anecdotally, most people don't care to pirate and would rather just mod their games or run emulators that are far superior to Nintendo's offerings.
@Soduh Lites are technically hackable but you need to be able to solder + find a modchip that's usually like $150.
It voids the year warranty from Nintendo, but if that's already expired then you can't void it further
The planned switch release would still require jailbreak unless Nintendo magically decides to allow mod support on their platform (i.e. you will always need a jailbreak)
@Rinyuu Lol read the article you sent me. It says that it is legal to backup your own games as long as it's not for commerical use. It doesn't mention anything at all about reverse engineering a bios.
@Soduh Jailbreaking your switch is super easy (granted you have an earlier model). This mod has a planned switch release but I don't think they've started working on it.
I'm tired of the elitism people have when this idea comes up. Like, no one knows if it will even happen, and if it does and you don't want it, it literally won't affect you. It's fun to speculate. It's a fun idea to think we might be able to play games we were previously unable to on switch.
I don't understand why people outright hate the idea of xcloud on switch. I understand not being interested, but what's the harm in more options? I promise your family won't die if you stream halo on a Nintendo console.
The whole framerule system makes this game particularly optimized as a speed game, perhaps one of the most optimized in all gaming. I wouldn't be surprised if someone managed to match TAS
I installed a First Person mod and have been playing through botw with a cheap vr tablet headset and it's been surprisingly enjoyable. I have a pretty strong stomach so despite the blurriness, it is quite enjoyable to travel hyrule through Link's eyes.
I'm about 6 hours in now. If you like the first one, you'll like this one. It's classic JRPG action at it's best. I can't speak to the full story, but it's definitely serviceable. There was already a fairly minor, but still interesting twist. The combat is fun as heck though
I've only played about 3 hours but can confirm. Feels just as lovely as the first two games as far as gameplay goes. I will say the menuing is a little clunkier for some reason but it's nothing that can't be learned.
I find it interesting that anything under an 8 is considered unplayable. I feel like 1-3 range should be unplayable, 4-6 nothing too special but could be worth a try, and 7-10 should be good games. Honestly, a 3 point system would work better with the way people read reviews right now. 1=1-6, 2=7-8, 3=9-10
@Synecdoche DLSS really does some magical things. It could boost the current version to a cool 1080p 60fps, and if the rumored revision could run it natively at 1080p 60fps, then DLSS could take it to 2- or even 4k.
Anyway, not gonna believe anything until I see it. I'm sure it will happen eventually. I used to not think the Switch really needed an upgrade, but once I got a 1440p monitor and the jagged edges started showing, I began to hope these were true.
@BanjoPickles it's not about having somewhat obscure games. It's about Nintendo having no reason to not just dump most notable games on the platform at no extra cost to them. There's no reason they can't drop hundreds of games, both well known and obscure all at once
I didn't think Disney would be so much further ahead then nintendo, but here we are. Disney finally wised up and got rid of the awful Disney Vault and came up with a pretty stellar offering of their entire legacy of films.
In a world of streaming services, on demand content, especially on demand content that people are nostalgic for is the best business strategy. That's just where the market is right now.
I know everyone says Mario 3 is the best and while it's a great game, I can't give it more than a 7... Maybe 8. World is what I'd consider the pinnacle of 2d mario
@ramu-chan Golly I have not had good luck on the internet today. Lots of colorful insults I've never heard XD. Sorry if I offended you or anything, I was just trying to be a little sarcastic. Have a good one!
Backed almost right away. Human things has made nothing but quality and I'm sure this will be mo different. My only issue is I wish it came out sooner because I didn't have a convenient TV or monitor to plug into for a couple of years up until now.
@MrBlacky The price it's at is definitely appropriate. Most people on this thread have never bought a Lego set for themselves. They have always been reasonably expensive. However, if you're in the camp that thinks Lego in general is priced to high, I'd say those people are looking for something in $150 USD range
This is going to be 4 maybe 5 games max. Definitely no Mario remasters. I'm getting the feeling that they aren't coming at all. I guess it's better than nothing but I seriously expect nothing even mildly interesting.
I do not like shooters I have never played a Doom game I'm trying to save money I bought 1 and 2 with my gold points and 33 cents. I played through the first episode I had a blast
