Re: Switch Emulator Ryujinx Might Not Be Dead, Despite Nintendo's Takedown

@Arkay
Nintendo isn't my mom. It's my switch and I can do what I want with it. I have no more respect for Nintendo than I do for politicians. They can ban me from buying games if they want, but that's not going to stop me from playing their games. The only one losing anything is them losing a few hundred dollars from me.

When I was a jobless kid, I pirated my games because I had no other way to play them. Now that I'm an adult the only one not getting paid is Nintendo because they won't let me pay them. Sucks for them because I typically enjoy their games the most.

I am gonna play it. Just on an emulator at 60 FPS. I own a Switch because I like to own physical things I guess? Idk I bought it like 7 years ago and it used to be the only way to play these games. Also, if I'm running into emulator compatibility issues, I can just run it on the original hardware. A switch is a nice little device with Custom Firmware too. Lots of cool emulators you can load on it.

I hope they don't. The switch appears increasingly dated with each month it's on the market. Back in 2017, I was fine with 720p games at 30fps. In 2022, I barely touch my switch just because any game I want to play is much more enjoyable on nearly anything else. Even first party Nintendo games generally play better on PC. 4GB Ram, and a 1.02 ghz cpu is not enough anymore. Especially with the steamdeck on the market. The next APU they use has got to be comparable with modern smartphones at the bare minimum. The Snapdragon 8 gen 1 has an 8 core CPU and even the lowest performing cores are clocked at nearly twice the speeds of the 4 cores in the Tegra x1. I don't know how committed Nintendo is to Nvidia, but AMDs RDNA platform looks like a much better bet moving forward.

But what do I know. Numbers don't lie, and Nintendo's salsa are still high. I just wish I found myself choosing the Nintendo system more than I actually do.

this is THE WORST post I've seen on this thread because it is so ill informed. For future reference, if you don't know a lot about a topic, do a quick Google search to confirm if what you're saying is true.

You do not need a switch emulator to do this. It works on console that has custom firmware installed.

You can dump legally obtained copies of any game with any switch (including lite and OLED) on any update.

Piracy is a nearly a non issue for people who have hacked their switches. Your numbers are backwards. I don't know the number and I can't remember where to find it; but anecdotally, most people don't care to pirate and would rather just mod their games or run emulators that are far superior to Nintendo's offerings.

@Soduh
Lites are technically hackable but you need to be able to solder + find a modchip that's usually like $150.

It voids the year warranty from Nintendo, but if that's already expired then you can't void it further

The planned switch release would still require jailbreak unless Nintendo magically decides to allow mod support on their platform (i.e. you will always need a jailbreak)

Lol read the article you sent me. It says that it is legal to backup your own games as long as it's not for commerical use. It doesn't mention anything at all about reverse engineering a bios.

@Soduh
Jailbreaking your switch is super easy (granted you have an earlier model). This mod has a planned switch release but I don't think they've started working on it.

@Synecdoche
DLSS really does some magical things. It could boost the current version to a cool 1080p 60fps, and if the rumored revision could run it natively at 1080p 60fps, then DLSS could take it to 2- or even 4k.

Anyway, not gonna believe anything until I see it. I'm sure it will happen eventually. I used to not think the Switch really needed an upgrade, but once I got a 1440p monitor and the jagged edges started showing, I began to hope these were true.

I didn't think Disney would be so much further ahead then nintendo, but here we are. Disney finally wised up and got rid of the awful Disney Vault and came up with a pretty stellar offering of their entire legacy of films.

In a world of streaming services, on demand content, especially on demand content that people are nostalgic for is the best business strategy. That's just where the market is right now.
