Re: Feature: The Biggest Wii U Games of 2016 - Spring Edition

RobNYC1977

Ugh, I hate being a debbie downer on Nintendo, but nothing in this list interests me in the slightest. MAYBE the new StarFox, maybe. And just looking at that hideous game tablet controller makes me realize what it was I disliked so much about the Wii U. I find it ugly, uncomfortable to hold (not uncomfortable, perhaps just awkward is the right word), and cheap feeling. I do LOVE the Pro controllers though, one of my favorite controllers for sure. For some reason I purchased a black and a white one... I wish I hadn't wasted the money on a second controller for obvious reasons...

The Wii U is essentially my Mario Kart 8 machine, and that's sad.
What a let down, and I glided into the PS3 about a year and a half ago, then purchased a PS4 last October (which I sorta kinda regret now too with the possibility of the PS4.5 coming out).

Re: Nintendo of America Launches eShop 'Super Spring Sale' Discounts on 40 Games

RobNYC1977

The choices for games on the eshop are always so bizarre.

That said, Konami Krazy Racers is one hell of an amazing game.. Makes me super excited thinking about it for the 3d Sega classics coming out for the 3ds soon. (getting it mostly for Power Drift). Can't wait!!! I'm tempted to download KKR for the WiiU, but I it seems fine playing it on the DS and the gameboy player on GC. Although I admit I actually like playing GBA games on the retron 5 because of the full screen (it's been a while since I play GBA games on the retron though.. I think they are full screen..)

Re: Research Firm Reckons Nintendo's Spent Nearly $527 Million on Research and Development This Fiscal Year

RobNYC1977

They have their work cut out for them, that's for sure. I don't blame them for going in different directions, companies have to do that to remain relevant in these fast changing times, but I can't say I'm all that excited about the directions they are taking. I still feel burnt on the Wii U. I bought the system when it was full priced, but seriously, drop the price already. And if the PS4.5 rumors are true, I am done on modern gaming. Which is weird because I've always been a gen or two behind, but for some reason decided to bite with the Wii U and the PS4.. Two major regrets, sorta.

I should have stuck to my scouring the bargain bins for generations from the past instead of jumping in as a new adopter. Won't be doing it again unless there is an F-zero at launch for NX, which I doubt

Re: Road Redemption Developer Says It's Still "Actively Pursuing Wii U Development"

RobNYC1977

Yes again, as others have stated, many times in many threads. WTF is 90's Arcade Racer!?

I did wind up biting the bullet and bought a PS4 last October just for certain racing games that the Wii U is lacking in. But I will purchase any racing game on the Wii U before any other system if it comes out and is good (sonic racing transformed was one I purchased on the Wii U instead of PS3).

Re: Hardware Review: Hyperkin ProCube Controller for Wii U

RobNYC1977

I have the mayfair adapter that allows you to use a gamecube controller for the Wii U. I think you can use it for gamecube games? Crap, I haven't played it in a while, I think i'm going to fire up the Wii U tonight and play some MK8, Fast Neo (i put that game down a few weeks after release due to the insane difficulty.. for me anyway).

What I hate most about the Wii U is all the controller options, more is NOT always better and I can't stand the stock gamepad with the screen that came with it. It feels like garbage and doesn't feel right ergonomically in my hands at all. I Pro U controller is amazing though, and I love the GC controller. The old classic controller and controller plus are also great, but now i'm at this weird juncture where I have like a gazillion controllers and options for a system that I only have like 10 games on it I like for :/

Re: Review: F-Zero (New 3DS / SNES)

RobNYC1977

Such a great game. Bought this the day it came out at the beginning of 9th grade. I really wish I was good enough at GX to unlock the AX arcade tracks in the gamecube game. Anyone have a spare memory card for gamecube they can unlock the AX tracks and send it to me? (can that even work?)

Re: Miitomo Makes Storming Debut on iOS in Japan

RobNYC1977

I'm not giving up on Nintendo exactly, but the social media creep into all of my hobbies leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I wish them success, but I think the franchises I really liked most from them are long gone and never to return. That said, if the NX has a Mario Kart 9 i'll be on line day one. And if there's an F-Zero or some sort, then I will claim my love to Nintendo again. The Wii U has left me feeling like a jilted lover and I've been cheating like crazy with playstations. dirty!

Re: Video: Zordix Makes a Splash With Updated Aqua Moto Racing Utopia Footage

RobNYC1977

@Grumblevolcano

I figured as much. It's funny because that studio's other game, Beach Buggy Racing (the second game I purchased on PS4) is just as insanely difficult. And it's a kart racing game :/ I think i'm hitting that age though where games get really difficult due to diminishing, well, everything. (along with learning anything new!)

I actually panic sometimes thinking how in 30-40-50 years I won't be able to enjoy classic video games because or arthritis or something lol. :/

Re: Video: Zordix Makes a Splash With Updated Aqua Moto Racing Utopia Footage

RobNYC1977

NICE! Excited about this, definitely my genre. Sadly I will probably get it for the PS4 (i know i know..), unless there is Pro Controller support on the WiiU. The ergonomics of the Wii U gamepad has always left me seriously unfulfilled, but the Pro Controller I LOVE. There's a similar game on the PS4 that's pretty good (a bit hard though)... Riptide GP 2.. Has good music as well. On that note, I need to get back into Fast Neo 2.. Did they patch it to make it any less ridiculous difficult!?! I miss the days of game genie codes

Re: Review: World Driver Championship (N64)

RobNYC1977

Picked this up a while back and enjoyed it. I <3 the old N64 racers, despite the fog issue in a lot of them. Wipeout 64 was really good! 90% of my n64 collection are racers. The Cruis'N series was great too.. The one on the Wii was cool too (wish it had more controller options though)

Re: Nintendo of America Confirms New Wii U, 3DS and Wii Nintendo Selects Titles for 11th March

RobNYC1977

Nice. I am finally going to jump on Tropical Freeze. Consensus seems that it's a pretty difficult platformer, and I can't justify paying 60 (or 50) bux for an extremely frustrating platformer. (my platforming skills are bad, especially newer ones). But for 20, I'd like to experience it.

Still have to give the Pikmen on GC a chance, have it, but haven't actually played it yet. Strategy games also hurt my brain. haha

Re: Talking Point: The New 3DS Can Revive the Portable Family With Help From Pokémon and amiibo

RobNYC1977

Arg... Part of me actually hopes not. It seems like Nintendo now is all Pokemon, Pokemon, Pokemon! It's almost embarrassing reading this website at work! (just kidding... sorta..). I never got the Pokemon thing (but i'm old, real old) so whatever.

On that note, I almost picked up that skylanders racing game for wii u today at gamestop used, it was like 23 bux... Question, do you need to toys to unlock most of it? No intest in collecting the toys, but would love an arcade racer for the WiiU that is similar to Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed, which is kinda sorta looks like? Is it a full racing game? If so, I will definitely pick it up.

Re: Gallery: Charles Martinet and (Doug) Bowser Join Fans to Celebrate the Relaunch of the Nintendo NY Store

RobNYC1977

One of my best memories was waiting in line for the release of Mario Kart 8 at this store I shake my head at the stuff people often stands in line in in nyc, but this was worth it. Got a MK8 Flag, keychains, and the version that came with the blue shell that I turned into a giant blinged out necklace

Definitely am going to check out the new design of the store. Did they get rid of the little museum part? The 9/11 gameboy is priceless.

Re: Feature: A Year in Development - Shin'en Multimedia

RobNYC1977

What are the chances of the first one coming out on physical release with this one? I really want this, my favorite genre, but I know it's going to be too difficult for me and i won't be able to unlock the second cup. Can you at least experience all tracks in time trial mode? Or in online play? I went back to the first one again last night and repeatedly failed on the first cup. last place, almost every race. Don't see how this one will be different, but if all tracks are available in time trial mode or at least in online play randomly, that's a plus. I don't play video games for a challenge, I play them to zone out.

Re: Video: Your Washed-Up Parent Can't Handle Modern Games So Get Them A NES This Christmas, Says eBay

RobNYC1977

@cleveland124

I probably would notice the lag on certain games i'm somewhat decent at (i suck at games though I <3 them). I'll try using it on some games where I think I'm good just to see what this lag talk is about (i'm not denying the lag, just something that doesn't cross my mind much) Plus I smoke up when I game so lag is usually irrelevant since there's alwaaaaays lag

Re: Video: Your Washed-Up Parent Can't Handle Modern Games So Get Them A NES This Christmas, Says eBay

RobNYC1977

The retron 5 controller is NOT that bad. Sorry, I have to throw it out there. It's bizarre and weirdly boxy/square, but I enjoyed using it on many games. I do prefer the original controllers though, but I used the stock controller for so long just to justify the price of the system. It was an impulse buy for me, and I do like it. It was worth it to play some older games in HD (i know there are other ways to do this).

Re: Video: Your Washed-Up Parent Can't Handle Modern Games So Get Them A NES This Christmas, Says eBay

RobNYC1977

This is totally derogatory and ageist!! I kid, I kid. I remember getting my NES back in the day and my grandfather (who was nearly blind) playing Duck Hunt with me This is a cute commercial, but a tad on the obnoxious side. Modern day gaming systems aren't rocket science, just tedious and too much overemphasis on social media in games (not a fan hahah but im old).

Re: Review: FAST Racing NEO (Wii U eShop)

RobNYC1977

Sorry, read through all the comments, but do you have to use the Wii U tablet? Hate that thing. Also are ALL tracks playable, either through online play or time trial? The last one was way too hard for me (i suck at games), but this is my favorite genre (which is why I cringe when when people keep comparing it to Fzero. It's actually NOTHING like F-Zero). It's like saying Baseball Stars on the Neo Geo is the same as MLB the Bigs on Xbox 360 or something. I want to be able to use the pro controller on this (LOVE that controller)

Re: Video: FAST Racing NEO's Hero Mode Melts Further Faces with an F-Zero Twist

RobNYC1977

I have no problem admitting I suck bad at most games and don't expect things handed on a golden platter, but when it comes to racing games i'll admit my butthurt when I'm only able to experience a few of the tracks. The first racing neo game was like that for me, but I think it was cheap so no harm no foul and it's great for people who like a challenge, but I was raised on Game Genie back in the day and miss codes and stuff.

Has anyone here unlocked the AX arcade cup in Fzero for GCN? It's insanely impossible. I want to play those tracks SO bad. I think there's a way to unlock it but only with some old version of an action replay which are like 100 dollars on amazon grrr. tempted sometimes though.

Re: Video: FAST Racing NEO's Hero Mode Melts Further Faces with an F-Zero Twist

RobNYC1977

Long time lurker / reader of this board and I had to register just now so I could chime in on this game. I am SO excited. The first game on the Wii though was really hard and I was never able to unlock most of it. This is my favorite genre, and I was so disappointed there's been no F Zero sequel for the Wii or Wii U. I wound up buying a used PS3 two years ago just to play Wipeout and have access to more racing games. I'm a racing game fanatic, mostly arcade and futuristic, but I like sims too. Seriously though, I really hope this game isn't too hard... I <3 video games, racing games, but I don't know if it's cuz im old or just brain damaged, but I really suck at them. (i'm great at all the Mario Karts though! haha).

Definite day one purchase for me and I do wish there was a physical release, but I am slowly warming up to digital downloads.. Bitter pill to swallow. I've been collecting games for a long time and have every major system with a nice collection of games for each (usually bought on the cheap when the generation is over). Lately i've been having these moments though of thinking, ugh, seriously, remember all those porno DVD's and VHS's you bought back in the day!? The same is gonna be true for video games! Tell me im wrong, i'd like that hear that

Video games looks great on shelves though, pornos not so much, so i guess there's that. Can't wait to play this!
