Re: Random: Kamiya Threatens To "Lose Motivation" For Bayonetta 3 Unless Nintendo Grants His Switch Wishes

Pizzapasta

@TheTetrisGuy The problem with the Pro Controller is that the D-Pad is absolutely and unequivocally borked! The only version of the Pro Controller that supposedly somewhat works in the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 one, but only a few people have that one. Trying to play Celeste with that Pro Controller is truly an exercise in frustration as dash forward is registered as dash diagonal up half of the time. And playing Tetris with it?!? Don't get me started!

Re: Wild Guns Reloaded To Shoot Its Way Onto Nintendo Switch This April

Pizzapasta

This game is great if you're a fan of arcade style games. I got this when it was on sale on ps4 for 50% off, but $30?!?! I'm not one to complain about price, but I really can't understand where Natsume gets that price tag; unless they're just looking at how much the cart goes for on the SNES and figures $30 is a steal in comparison.

Re: Review: Bayonetta (Switch eShop)

Pizzapasta

@SLIGEACH_EIRE That's where Amazon Prime comes in. $47 for both games is a really good deal. I know it's a little bit of tom foolery, but if you're really really strapped for cash and want to get it for even cheaper, you could do what I did; use the Bayonetta 1 download code, buy the digitally discounted version of Bayonetta 2 for $30 and then sell the physical copy of it for $40. At that point you get both games for $37.

Re: First Rainway Trailer Features Switch Heavily, Despite It Not Being Listed As A Supported Platform

Pizzapasta

@Thisismycomment I strongly believe that the wifi icon bar incorrectly shows wifi strength and is a software glitch. In my office, right next to my router, my Switch reads out no bars. On the other side of my house it reads out two bars. In both cases however, gaming runs smoothly without lag. So I think it's just a problem with the icon. Something similar happened with a lot of Switches and the battery readout. Mine used to say 10% when it was really at 50% and then 100% when it was really at 60%. FIrmware 4.0 fixed it though.

Re: NBA Playgrounds Ups Its Game With New Enhanced Edition Update

Pizzapasta

Holy crap! This update makes the game actually good! They upped the resolution, cut the load times way down, and added a shot meter so you can actually make wide open layups and dunks now. I still hate unlocking players through packs of cards, but at least the game is actually fun enough now to want to unlock them.

Re: Feature: What We Want From Nintendo In 2018

Pizzapasta

You forgot about updating the OS to add things like game folders to organize your game library, and an on screen shutdown button as opposed to holding the power button for four seconds every time you want to turn the system off.

Re: Video: These D-Pad Joy-Con Shells are Great, But Come with a Cautionary Tale

Pizzapasta

@BulbasaurusRex You have to play with it a while to realize how bad it is. I think it comes from two things: the whole D-Pad is a single button, and there is a TON of travel to go from an unpressed to pressed state. The one button setup cause false reads at times. So like if you push "left" on the D-pad but your finger isn't AAAALLLL the way on the left corner but a little bit to the center, the D-pad might register "left + up" or "left+right" being pressed, even though you are really only pressing "left". The amount a travel on the D-pad just makes it hard to quickly tap or quickly change from one direction to another. It's the same issue that the DS Lite d-pad and buttons had, but much much worse.

Re: Wii U's Failure Is Responsible For Switch's Success, Says Reggie

Pizzapasta

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Can you please just stop perseverating on how the Wii U was a good console and the Switch isn't? Your negativity towards the Switch is slowly decreasing, but it's still lame coming into every comment section and seeing you work hard to find a negative spin on almost everything Switch and then reluctantly acknowledging the positives when the negative angles are too hard to reach. You seem like a diligent and intelligent guy and I would love to see your energies dedicated to positively adding to the discussion instead of trying to convince people that the Wii U was a good console two years after it was confirmed dead.

Re: Hands On: Watching Hulu on the Nintendo Switch

Pizzapasta

@SLIGEACH_EIRE I was absolutely fine with not having any streaming apps on my Switch. But about two months ago I phased out my older Samsung tablet and just use my S8+, and I was in bed playing Hyrule Warriors and I wanted to watch Netflix for a bit and I thought "man! It would be pretty rad if I could just close out of this game and in 10 seconds be watching TV instead of having to reach for another device." More options (as long as they don't divert resources from games to the OS) are almost always better.

Re: Review: Art of Fighting 3: The Path of the Warrior (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)

Pizzapasta

@OorWullie No I haven't. I really don't enjoy the Art Style. I like pixel art more than the weird paper doll art style. I keep hearing good things so I'm tempted now... My wife is bugging me now. We're at Fry's and she's telling me to get the Hori Stick, but I'm hemming and hawing. We were just in a Japanese style arcade that just opened up by my house and I mentioned I wanted to get a stick like those formmy office. And she was like "that would be so cool! Let's go!" But now that we're at the store I'm being indecisive.

Re: Review: Art of Fighting 3: The Path of the Warrior (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)

Pizzapasta

@OorWullie what are the other two beat em ups that you have? I know the first Sengoku is trash, don't know why they haven't given us the much better sequels yet... I know the robo one looks "okay" and then there's the other one that looks like final fight but I heard it wasn't that good. I like playing the arcade beat em ups with my wife cuz she can just add more quarters and doesn't get frustrated. The problem with NintendoLife reviews of the ACA games is that they basically all get a 7 or 8 so it's hard to tell which ones are really worth it. I'm enjoying this one so far even more than Mark of the Wolf because of the simplicity of the controls. Might pick up the Hori stick today...

Re: Review: Art of Fighting 3: The Path of the Warrior (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)

Pizzapasta

@OorWullie I'm not even a fighting game guy but I already have a few off the ACA collection. I like playing brawlers and old shmups with sticks too though. I keep looking at that Hori stick and I'm going through the same dilemma. I don't know if I can justify $150 stick for a few fighting games. Then I think about the 8Bitdo one that's only $80, but it looks like that one is using all Mayflash parts, and Mayflash is really not great.

Re: Review: Art of Fighting 3: The Path of the Warrior (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)

Pizzapasta

@OorWullie That seems to make sense. I'm mainly going by the thumb nails, but the older NeoGeo games on PS4 look worse than the Hamster versions and are more expensive, but the newer PS4 NeoGeo games look almost identical to the Switch ones.

On a side note, I was playing some of the ACA games and was thinking to myself how wonderful it would be to have online play. Since Hamster is handling all the old Nintendo arcade games I wonder if online play will be enabled for all of them once the Nintendo online service gets turned on.

Re: Egads, You Can Now Use Wireless Headphones With Switch Thanks To The 4.0.0 Update

Pizzapasta

@Arehexes I just find it strange that people would make that assumption. Remember that no modern console supports bluetooth headphones. XBoxOne and PS4 DO NOT support bluetooth headphones; only wireless headphones or wired headphones plugged into the controller. Bluetooth headphones on a gaming system are a very tricky thing because they can introduce quite a bit of audio lag. That's a big reason why no modern system supports it. You said that there already is a wireless option, (use a bluetooth receiver in the 3.5mm jack) and that this is just another way to connect. That's not exactly true. Those bluetooth wireless transmitters introduce quite a bit of audio lag which means what you see on screen and what you hear in your headphones doesn't match up, and they make rhythm games like Thumper absolutely unplayable. Any of those bluetooth receivers are a MUCH worse option than a Wireless USB dongle because the dongle uses a lag free wireless signal. So it isn't just a matter of using a different dongle to do the same thing, it's really the only functional wireless option for the Switch right now.

Re: Egads, You Can Now Use Wireless Headphones With Switch Thanks To The 4.0.0 Update

Pizzapasta

@Arehexes I'm talking about the common usage of the TERM. That's what my original comment was about. When people say "wireless" they mean one thing, when they say "bluetooth" they mean something else. That is common usage of the TERMS. You can argue with me all you want, it doesn't change reality. There are hundreds of products on the market that are "wireless headsets" they say "wireless headsets" on the box, they absolutely aren't bluetooth. Sony's main PS4 headset is the "Wireless Gold Headset". It says it right on the box. It's not bluetooth. I don't see anyone accusing Sony of being misleading. XBox360 Wireless controller wasn't bluetooth. The original XBoxOne Wireless controller wasn't bluetooth. No one accused Microsoft of being misleading. If you and other readers ASSUMED he meant bluetooth when he ACTUALLY said wireless, well I that's really not his fault.

Re: Egads, You Can Now Use Wireless Headphones With Switch Thanks To The 4.0.0 Update

Pizzapasta

@Arehexes Thank you for googling the definition of bluetooth and cutting and pasting the first definition that came up... Are you really going to be THAT guy that wants to win an argument or sound smart so badly that you purposefully misunderstand common usage in order to prove a point?

It is common practice to use the term "wireless headset" for any headset that uses wireless communication that isn't bluetooth, and then to specify "bluetooth headset" for ones that specifically use that technology. That is why I didn't throw a conniption fit when I paid $100 for "wireless" Sony headphones and found a USB dongle in the box. That is why I didn't flip out when I had to use a wireless receiver to use my "wireless" XBox controller on my PC. Because when someone says "wireless device", they are almost always talking about a wireless technology other than bluetooth. You can google definitions until the cows come home, it's not going to change the way the majority of people use words.

Re: Review: NBA 2K18 (Switch)

Pizzapasta

Glad to see this game finally got fixed. Also, maybe these controversial articles that inspire a lot of heated debate will inspire NintendoLife to change the nonsensical sort order of their comment section.

Re: The Big NBA 2K18 Patch For Switch Is Finally Here

Pizzapasta

@NintndoNik You have to supply your email for your online 2K account. Your "MyCareer" save isn't saved on your system, but rather on the 2K servers. So if you want to play the MyCareer, MyGm, etc modes, you absolutely are going to need to supply your email address and confirm it.

Re: The Big NBA 2K18 Patch For Switch Is Finally Here

Pizzapasta

@SlayerG I don't quite understand people being upset with NintendoLife for "giving them a pass". That review torn the game up and said at the end "we don't recommend you buy this game". I don't understand how that's a pass. At least they mentioned the Switch specific problems. No one else did...

Re: The Big NBA 2K18 Patch For Switch Is Finally Here

Pizzapasta

@dimi Did they though? "Improved framerate/audio syncing during tunnel/locker room scenes in MyCAREER" First off, doesn't say "fixed" says "improved". Second, those issues occur during ALL scenes, not just the tunnel/locker room ones. If you want to play broken games, great. If you want to buy a game and understand that you need to wait a month before a major mode of it even starts becoming playable, great. But please don't act like someone's being unreasonable when they expect to be able to actually play a game they just bought.

Re: The Big NBA 2K18 Patch For Switch Is Finally Here

Pizzapasta

@OorWullie That's untrue and unfair. I plopped down $100 for this game and was VERY vocal about my displeasure with the Switch port. There are standards in software development that all developers have to abide by. 2K didn't do that. So you can't accuse upset consumers of poisoning the well when the blame rests squarely with 2K. The biggest bugs that were Switch exclusives (like the desynced cut scenes that make MyCareer unplayable) were present for almost every user on the Switch. That means 2K knew full well they were releasing a game with a major mode broken, but they decided to greenlight the game and make their deadline anyways. That was their decision, and they have no one to blame but themselves if that decision hurts their sales.
