Payday 2 was a surprise Nintendo Direct announcement back in April; the heist game - with its focus on teamwork and co-op play - could certainly be a decent fit for the Switch. Since that reveal, however, relatively little has been said about the project.
Now Overkill Software has given a video update on progress; it shows the title running on the hardware and it's pegged for a 'Winter' release.
It'll be an interesting release once it rolls around, with the title having previously enjoyed success on PC and console. It's not been without its controversies, and the comments under the above YouTube video are rather a mess of complaints at the lack of updates to other console versions.

We'll keep an eye out for a formal release date.
Thanks to everyone that sent this in.

Still not interested.
There's been so many games announced since we knew about this that I had forgotten about it. Glad to see it's still coming and hope it doesn't get lost in the sea of all the other games still coming.
Unless you get a kick out of grinding to the nth degree just to gamble for items when the odds are completely against you i don't recommend this game. Not to mention the switch version will most likely not look particularly great or perform well.
I would buy, but it was a free to own game on steam over the summer so I got it then. It's alright, but I won't be double dipping on the Switch for it.
Wow I didn't not realise this was still coming to the Switch. There has been so little about it since the first reveal. Unfortunately, it's all a little too late now. There are way too many other bigger and better games coming to the Switch from third party support now.
maybe but I don't know.
The game can be played single player offline, with bots as teammates. Which is great because if that wasn't the case I probably wouldn't be interested.
I mean I hear it's a fantastic co-op game but if you absolutely had to have someone else to play with you, that would be too limiting. With bots filling in for teammates you can play solo, and then when you are with a friend you can pass a controller and play together.
Game is fun with friends, not so much with strangers and it's terrible solo+A.I, the bots pretty much plays in a vegetative state.
Unless you gonna play this with your friends i don't recommend, otherwise go for it.
If it's 20$ or less I'll think about it
Maybe I'll get it if reviews are favorable. But DOOM and Wolfenstein are more my jam.
Really cool that this is coming to Switch. I actually totally forgot about it. Throw it on the pile of more things I need to buy...
This is a ridiculously good game, but only in co-op. I've got 2 copies for the X360 & PS4, and I'll be getting 2 more for the switch when it comes out (it's that good). That said, if you can't play co-op then I would pass on this one due to bad AI, and lack of proper coordination in order to actually pull off some high adrenaline heists.
Glad to know it's still on the way.
Wish I was into multiplayer games, I'd buy it on release, but I'm not, pity.
I'll believe it when I see it on the eShop.
Not for me, but I hope they find an audience on the Switch.
This is one title I am not really interested in. It just doesn't sound remotely impressive to me. But 14 year old me would have liked it. It's weird but since college these kind of games have lost their appeal to me. But in middle school I couldn't get enough of this stuff. Maybe I just burned out.
Not really a game for me at this point in time. If I had a bunch of mates with switch consoles I would probably have a go though.
More interested in Doom, Wolfenstein, and LA Noir.
Move it to spring please. Too many games.
Im excited for this, but I hope they move it to early next year. Too much stuff coming out this year.
I have never played one of these games.... the premise seems awesome though. Will wait for some reviews and of course a price before committing to much
Hope I'm still craving another first person shooter after DOOM and Wolfenstein II, but right now I'm very hungry.
This has online co-op and it's about heists. I saw people playing it online and having a blast! I hope this experience can be recreated on Switch with voice chat and all.
@FragRed Winter could mean next year and right now there aren't too many games announced for then.
@jimbobolowskie It's not going to be $20.It takes actual work to port this game to switch I'd say. I think $39 would be a good price but more likely it will be $49.
Don't buy it
Would rather buy Doom
"Put it on a cartridge" So, retail version confirmed?
@Dramlin Why do you need 2 copies?
looks like the type of scam coming from the person that is in that video.
it's called toothpaste. use it
I'm loving this game. So much fun. It's like Zero Mission part 2.
No room for this game, I have already nailed my Switch-winter with Odyssey, L.A. Noire and Skyrim or Doom.
@NandN3ds Gaaahhhhh hahahahaha $40- $49?!!!!! AAAAAA hahahaha for a game that can be bought for $5-$10 on pc and $10-$20 on ps4!
Aaaaaaaahahahahahahah!!!! hahahahah!
oh man thats good! thats a good one!
@Starbuster I play this locally with my significant other. It's a single player game with online co-op, so in my case we need 2 copies and 2 systems.
And the FPS games are coming...
@jimbobolowskie I don't have a PS4 or a gaming PC.
Ttoally rebuying this. Glad to see some more news finally, wasn't sure if they were gonna delay it into 2018 or not.
@jimbobolowskie you sir sound like a cheap nibelsnarf to me $60 isnt much and will pay up to that much for it and the cheaper versions you talk about are older versions theres newer versions of the game releasing for the ps4 and xbox one soon and switch version all 3 newer versions will cost $50 and include everything from previous games on top that new weapons missions and masks and other stuff they just announced it like a week ago so now you can see why it will cost more its a newer version with more exclusive content to me its definetely worth the $50 or $60 whenever switch version is released im sold if you have already boughten it previously for other systems i wouldnt blame you if thats reason why you wouldnt want it but i have never owned the the game and the switch is my ownly system i own now after that i traded in my ps4 pro and xbox one s into gamestop in order to preorder my switch at launch sorry for horrible grammar and long reply
@PENGUINOFGOTHAM I'm frugal not cheap. There's a difference. And it was a bad move by you trading in 2 great systems for the switch. Maybe if you didn't spend so much money on unnecessarily over priced games you'd have enough to own all 3 systems...
@jimbobolowskie sorry for the late reply haven't signed into this account in long time but yeah I like to blow a lot money on unessary games I don't need am a huge collector I ended up rebuying the xbox one ended up getting the x version with a one grand 4k tv mostly use it for as a 4k bluray player but yes switch is main system only because I like the exclusives games most on the switch ps4 and xbox are fun but not many games I'm interested on those systems I currently own 2 switches right now and have the smash bros and pokemon lets go switch bundles on preordered costed me around $800 in total plan on storing them as back up systems so ill never have to buy another switch again as my launch switch is bent as fk from overheating in dock a lot so don't know how much longer it will last and I understand you not cheap you just don't like over paying for stuff like me I'm kinda an idiot at times just like go out and blow money
