Re: Review: Dr. Mario: Miracle Cure (3DS eShop)

PatHawks

If you already have Dr. Luigi, the only reason to pick this one up is to play on the go.
If you don't already have Dr. Luigi, this one is definitely worth it! Ranked online multiplayer is awesome!

This is the definitive portable Dr. Mario.

Re: Video: Footage From Nintendo World Championships 2015 Qualifiers Starts To Trickle Through

I went to the Torrance, CA location.
The high score was set by one of the first competitors. Probably 300-400 people.
By about lunch time there was no line at all. There were several people who had competed in the Nintendo Campus Challenges, and one person who had competed in the 1990 NWC.

Most of the younger players that I talked to had only started playing NES Remix after the details of the NWC had been released, they seemed not to have too much attachment to the game otherwise.

Many people said that they wished there would have been a more head-to-head competition like MarioKart or Smash Bros rather than just a high score to beat.

Re: Poll: Is It Time For a Fresh Alternative to the Virtual Console?

PatHawks

I wouldn’t mind paying a bit more for VC titles if I could buy once and play anywhere (3DS, Wii U, maybe even mobile/PC).

I have quite the collection of VC titles between my 3DS & Wii U, but I worry that it will be worthless in a few years if Nintendo releases a new console with no way to migrate old purchases.

Re: System Update 9.2.0-20 Now Available On 3DS

PatHawks

When “Download Later” software is waiting to download, I now get a message on the home screen (at the bottom of the top screen) about putting the system to sleep to resume download.
How long has this existed?

Re: Talking Point: A Virtual Console Revival Could Be Just a Pricing Revolution Away

PatHawks

I don't mind the price at all, I just wish there were a bit more value

If I could buy a title once and know that I'll be able to play it on any Nintendo platform that supports it, I wouldn't mind paying $10 for an NES game. I just hate that I bought it once on the Wii, again on the 3DS, and now I'm expected to open the wallet once more for the Wii U?

Also, if I could "loan" a digital game to my wife's 3DS, that would again provide more value.

Re: Feature: Where Are The Super Nintendo 3D Classics?

PatHawks

A 3D Classic release of Doom would be interesting. It would be better/easier if they just rebuilt classic Doom from the ground up for the 3DS, rather than trying to port the (garbage) SNES port.
Including the Doom 64 exclusive levels would make this a no brainer for even casual FPS fans.

Re: Poll: How Important is Dual / Second Screen Gaming?

PatHawks

@unrandomsam I think not being able to use the 3DS as a controller on the Wii U was a big mistake. Having a second screen only makes sense if each player has his/her own.

I think one of the coolest things that could be done would be turn based battle games (like Pokémon), where players select their moves on their own touch screen so the other player can't see. This, of course, isn't possible if only one player has a GamePad.

@unrandomsam YES YES YES!
Why is the screen on the 3DS only slightly different from the screen on the DS? Why does the GamePad have a slightly different screen still?
If they just doubled the resolution from the DS to the 3DS (and maybe made the top screen wider in addition, for a resolution somewhere around 640×384 instead of 400×240 for the upper screen), DS games would look a lot nicer on a 3DS.

It seems the 3DS and Wii U design teams also could have worked more closely together to come up with better cross-platform connectivity, à la the Vita+PS4.

Re: Feature: Pokémon X & Y - What We Know So Far

PatHawks

@allav866 I'm with you; it makes sense for Nintendo to release on the eShop at the same time as retail.

For all the people hoping for R/S/E remakes, is that really what you want?
It seems like FireRed/LeafGreen & SoulSilver/HeartGold were re-released because (at least at the time), those games included Pokémon that couldn't be captured any other way, and Pokémon from Gen I & II could not be imported into Gen III.
Now, if you own a Pokémon game from each generation, it is easy to migrate your dudes from Gen III to B/W/B2/W2. No remakes necessary.
amiright?
