The Nintendo World Championships 2015 qualifiers took place recently, and we're already starting to see footage appear online which gives a flavour of these events.
The qualifiers all happened May 30th at eight different locations up and down North America. The top scorer from each event is going ahead to the finals at this year's E3, where they will be joined by another eight challengers selected by Nintendo.
Did you attend any of these qualifying events? Share your impressions by posting a comment below. We'll aim to update this post with more videos as they appear.

If I could have gone... I would have but... 8 stores and I'm Canadian so.... The "World Championships" doesn't include Canada..... or the world... lol
Sure I'll be watching the event online here from Chile...
Well, based on these videos, I didn't miss anything. It looks more like a midnight release than an epic video game challenge. Alot more low key than what I was expecting.
@NESlover85 yes at the Dallas location the line was gone by 11:45 am. Only about 2-3 hundred competed (my estimation) . when I left the top score was 5.4 million, my score was a horrible 399,000. What really hit me was the lack of children. I saw less than 15 kids under the age of 18. Most were mid 30s dorks like me.
@Danrenfroe2016
lol. That's because we are the dorks in our 30's that grew up with these games. Kids today are too spoiled with all the hand holding tutorials that are in games today. What happened to reading the manual and figuring stuff out for yourself?
@NESlover85 Yes. True true. I am really beginning to worry, is that the only types of games doing very well financially is are sports games, and so-called free to play games, and very violent and foul mouthed war games, I do occasionally play call of duty, but it kind of scares me that you wonderful games like Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario 3d World and they do not sell very well at all.
@Danrenfroe2016 I too will play cod every once in awhile, but there is no sense of wonderment or exploration like a mario game or a good jrpg. All my nephews talk about is cod or youtube videos of people playing cod.
In the first video, they had a lot of those Chase McCane lego's from Lego City Undercover limited edition. I guess it didn't sell that much, but it's still nice to have it.
I'm going to watch the event with my friends, it's going to be a blast.
I went to the Torrance, CA location.
The high score was set by one of the first competitors. Probably 300-400 people.
By about lunch time there was no line at all. There were several people who had competed in the Nintendo Campus Challenges, and one person who had competed in the 1990 NWC.
Most of the younger players that I talked to had only started playing NES Remix after the details of the NWC had been released, they seemed not to have too much attachment to the game otherwise.
Many people said that they wished there would have been a more head-to-head competition like MarioKart or Smash Bros rather than just a high score to beat.
(In most nerdy voice): 2nd video - 'The next Fred Savage'? More like the next Luke Edwards, who was the one who played Jimmy Woods, the actual "wizard" of the movie. Heh, I hope someone got fired over that one.
(Back to regular voice): Anyway, it's a shame that there were so few locations for these preliminaries. Living in upstate NY, it would've been about a 2 1/2 hour drive down to the city to try competing. Not bad, but even that long of a drive, then having to sit outside an NYC building in early morning hours . . . nah. Especially since I know I'd have no realistic shot of coming out on top. I know and am good at most of the old-school games in NES Remix, being 31, but I actually haven't play NES Remix itself. Besides, there's also the odds - 1 in who-knows-how-many-hundreds? Meh. I'll just enjoy watching the finals. Should be fun.
I did and made it La here i come
@WiiUPS4Gamer Congratulations and Good Luck!
