I loved the dragon quest demo but I really need to be fully briefed on turn based combat and how to get the best out of it, I never played any of those back in the day, so I was really just guessing and hoping for the best and couldn't get past that annoying gargoyle near the broken bridge.
@the_beaver it's my mate Mark and his daughter. I joked that perhaps his daughter was just more likable than him, and comes across better online, but he agreed and said oh yeah that's definitely part of it 😆
Oh yeah, funny thing one of my work pals told me this week. He's been getting bang into Warframe on the xbox live, and his daughter liked it too so she's got into it as well via the switch. So the daughter was playing for about a week and my mate seen her on it and she seemed to have progressed quite a bit further than him, despite him playing it a couple of months longer than her. And she was like oh yeah I'm in this big crew, made all these friends, we take turns helping each other with different side quests, and all battle together through the main story, and he was pure baffled, said it's nothing like that on the xbox, where everyone is totally selfish and abusive and it's everyone for themselves. He said I think the Nintendo crowd are just generally far nicer people.
So there you go people, nice little compliment from an outsider there.
I haven't played much at all this week, so still just plodding through Golf Story. I might finally get Cuphead today and order a decent micro sd card and travel case, get prepared for being able to travel again soon.
@jarvismp have you found any annoying glitches in super Soccer Blast? I read somewhere else that it would occasionally forget how many cups you've won.
Real football fans don't like diving either. I follow the game in non league, and it hardly ever happens at that level, because it's so quick to be called out. We won't put it with it from our own lads, never mind anyone else.
Why do Americans always point to that as the reason they don't like football? So tedious.
@Zeldafan79 fair point. If I'd had that affinity for the original maybe I would be excited. And I like star wars yeah, but episode 1 is not my favourite.
@Dm9982 see, I didn't even know that's what it meant, I thought it was just a term for an exploratory type experience, cheers for that lol. I'm only just getting back into games after a long absence. I'll investigate your recommendations further, cheers mate, I appreciate that.
I like the look of most of these, but don't own any of them. What would people recommend for a noob, something that isn't massively difficult too? Cheers
I'm still playing through Golf Story, so it will be mostly that. I'm also enjoying the tour campaign on Horizon Chase Turbo in small bursts here and there. I DL'd Flipping Death, Raging Justice when they were going cheap, and the Takeover. And last night I also got Undead Horde, Lydia, The Bridge, Behold the Kickmen and Super Soccer Blast. Haven't touched any of them. I might get Project Warlock today, got about £14 eshop balance. Oh yeah and I'm only about 3 hours into Link's Awakening and Cat Quest as well, although they've both been neglected lately.
With things looking likely to be easing up on travel restrictions soon, I may well be off on work travels within a few weeks, so I'm just going to keep stacking up games for my long plane journeys and remote postings where I might not be very well connected to the world.
I almost feel guilty for buying fifa 20, I didn't know about all this legacy business. It's the natural footie choice and price wise 20 wasn't expensive, so I just got that. It is a swizz though, I get why people are annoyed. Fifa needs some competition badly.
@Sim1 ah cool, cheers. I'm just getting back into my games after years away from them so I'm dipping in on a bunch of different things to see what I like. Since I got my switch I haven't got any of the games I planned on getting, only because since joining here and following a couple of good YouTube channels, I've found a whole world of things I never even knew about. It's taken a madly different course.
I really do fancy getting into the jrpg lot, I played the Dragon Quest XI demo and loved it, but I just don't understand the turn based battles, they're baffling to me, I don't know what I'm meant to be doing, and I just end up getting toasted by feeble little turds 🤣🤣🤣
I'm really enjoying Horizon Chase Turbo, Cat Quest and Golf Story just now. I picked up Flipping Death and The TakeOver as well but haven't touched either yet. I also just DL'd the demos of Bad North, The Bridge and Trials of Mana, seen them all recommended here by various people.
@C0NNERS yeah definitely. I'm not going to totally dismiss it out of hand, I'll DL a demo if there is one, see what I think. I personally prefer things to be a bit more plausible in a sports game. If it all goes too wacky, I'm out. What The Golf being a spectacular exception to that rule 😆
@C0NNERS I thought that looked awful. I was intrigued with the art style and screenshots, but I watched some gameplay on YouTube and there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to how you score, it's like midfield knockabout, through ball, striker one on one, blast up power bar, cut scene to mega blast kick, then the goalie has his own cut scene where his hands are on the ball and his body is behind it, then it freezes for a second and it decides to award you a goal or not. It either flies off at an improbable angle or passes through your goalies body. Looks well presented, but the novelty wore off after about 4 minutes for me.
Please don't use the fifa commentary. Lee Dixon is so dull. It's been weird in the bundesliga, I said I would watch every game, but it's just not the same without the fans, I'm only checking YouTube highlights if I see an interesting scoreline.
A better idea would be to have a bunch of opposing fans in a zoom meeting, so they can sing their club specific songs and taunt each other on the hop, like in real life, then pipe in that sound. Fifa just has the generic songs everyone sings.
I only just got Golf Story so I'm playing through that atm. Huntdown and Bug Fables are on the wish list, but I reckon I'll grab Lonely Mountain Downhill before those. Depends what gets discount first I suppose.
I tried the demo of this. It looks great, but I couldn't get along with it so well. You need fast reactions. Could see it being a big hit for younger players though.
I picked up a bunch of games on the new sale, so I'm probably done buying anything new for this month. Ideal opportunity to grab a few games I wanted anyway, nice and cheap. I started Golf Story, so I'll stick with that for now, but I'm also ready to roll with... The Takeover Flipping Death Raging Justice Cat Quest Horizon Chase Turbo
Going for a small socially distanced barbecue tomorrow. We can go to the toilet in grandma's house, but we can't sit down and watch the telly. Boris said it's fine.
Looks alright, but PES is the Konami game people really want. Fifa desperately needs some competition. I wouldn't even be bothered if it was unlisenced, as long as it played better.
@Deltath that's it mate. I was away from gaming for nearly 20 years, but seen the switch lite as a perfect way to get back into it. I will always play on my own, I travel away from home a lot for work too, so I buy mostly physical and I have hundreds of hours worth of content to play, with me on the go whenever I want it. It's been fabulous for me. I get why people wouldn't want it, but for some of us, it fits our needs perfectly.

I just got the sandisk ultra 200gb for £27 on amazon. Pretty good value really.

Re: Mini Review: Behold The Kickmen - A Gloriously Silly Take On The Beautiful Game
@jarvismp I'll probably get both quite soon. Any half decent footie game, I'm in.

@bozz absolutely true. Neymar is a wee fanny! 😆

Super Soccer Blast and Kickmen are both out today. Both look more fun than fifa and will run you a combined ten quid.

Timo Werner at Chelsea and the new Wycombe Wanderers kits?
Essential day 1 purchase for me.

@USWITCH64 you getting involved with super soccer blast then? I like the look of that too. Fifa is cool, but it isn't really a laugh is it?
