Re: NPD Results Show PlayStation 5 Outsold Switch In August (North America)

Outspoken

@SwitchForce I don’t understand the point you’re trying to make. I know the limitations of the PS5 being a fixed TV console and the pros of the Switch being portable. If I were desperate to play my PS5 portable, Sony have PS Remote Play. Both gaming systems have their strengths and weaknesses, and I’m enjoying playing both of them equally.

P.s I don’t do console wars. I’ve been a switch owner since launch day 2017.

Re: NPD Results Show PlayStation 5 Outsold Switch In August (North America)

Outspoken

I was lucky to buy a PS5 last year as a family Christmas gift. I wont lie, part of my purchase decision was the hype but it pairs up well with my OLED switch and we’re having a lot of fun with it.

I know its a popular thing to say that the PS5 doesn't have many exclusive games, so whats the point… as all but Ratchet i think can be played on the PS4, but lets be honest, if you’re in the market to buy a playstation, why wouldn't you try to get their latest and greatest.

Anyway, personally looking forward to spider-man 2, wolverine, street fighter 6 and tekken 8…

Re: Poll: So, Which Switch OLED Did You Buy?

Outspoken

I went with the white Swoled to eventually sit alongside the PS5 I’ve stashed away for the kids Christmas present!😊

I sold my launch v1 switch, it was the neon red/blue. Still love that colour combo, but I still got the splatoon pink/green joycons too.

Re: Nintendo Switch Transfer - How To Transfer All Saves, Games, Profiles, And User Data To Another Switch (OLED, Lite, Regular)

Outspoken

@FX102A I sold my V1 Switch in the summer, and bought the v2. From memory this is what I did… (bear in mind I have nso).

I backed up my Switch to nso cloud. I then unlinked the switch and erase/format the switch to factory with sd card removed ( not that it matters ) it took about 30min to reformat- something to factor if you have a potential buyer coming to test the switch.

When I received the new switch v2 , I input my old sd card and signed into my account on the new switch. Console then says it cant read sd card, so you have to reformat. Once all that’s done, it’s just a case of going into eshop and cloud data settings to redownload games and save data. Done!

Then i had to do it all again, as I returned the v2 switch to pre order the Switch OLED😉

Re: Consumer Advocacy Group Calls Out Nintendo For Joy-Con Drift Ahead Of Switch OLED Launch

Outspoken

@johnvboy That’s fair. But I usually find that people who often say they’ve never experienced drift with their day 1 Switch, usually end with saying that they hardly use the joy-con and use a pro controller instead, or have multiple joycons in rotation. So in my view, you have less chance of getting drift. As there’s strong proof that it’s the contact pads in the sticks getting worn down.

Re: Round Up: Here's What The Critics Think Of Nintendo Switch OLED

Outspoken

I agree with what many are saying that the OLED isn’t really a must cop if you own a switch, especially v2 already.

But for people like me who has a launch day switch with worsening battery and it’s pretty beat up, the OLED is a nice upgrade. I reconditioned my V1, sold it and made back some decent money.

Now I can’t wait until Friday to receive my OLED! Which was bought with a 10% discount making it an even better deal.

Re: Talking Point: Switch Vs. PS5 And Xbox - Nintendo Preps For The Holidays With A New SKU And European Price Cut

Outspoken

We sold our V1 switch in June, and went the whole summer without a console😢. I have the OLED ordered, even better that I got it for £278 with discount.

I also managed to order the PS5 on impulse last month with Ratchet and Clank, it will be the kids surprise Christmas present, they’re going to be elated! - I can’t lie, I’m little excited to check it out myself😆, cant wait to pick up Miles Morales and SFV, games I’ve always wanted to play.

Re: Where To Pre-Order Nintendo Switch OLED Model

Outspoken

@Sam_TSM i had a launch day switch. Issues I had with mine were, the lcd screen was lifting from the left corner (Nintendo fixed) then I my console started warping under heat, and as a result of that I believe the plastic housing started to crack, and all the fan grills cracked away too.

I sold my v1 switch last month and recently bought the v2 after holding out for a “Pro” model but sods law.

I’ve been contemplating returning it for the oled but I think it’ll be a lot of faff for not much gain. Not to mention the 3 month wait without a games console for me and the kids.

Edit: also I forgot, the game card reader stopped working out of the blue. Bought the spare part and replaced myself and a new housing!

Re: Where To Pre-Order Nintendo Switch OLED Model

Outspoken

@Welshland is this normal practice with Smyths? I’m not surprised by GAME but cant believe these companies are charging shipping cost for goods over £100! Rip-off if you ask me and if I were preordering I’d wait for Amazon or Nintendo store.

Re: Soapbox: Hurry Up And Release The Switch Pro Already, My Switch Is Dying

Outspoken

Am in the same boat. My much loved Switch was beat up and for the life of me I can’t understand how it’s just fallen apart, after it spends most of its time in the dock!

Cracked air vent, missing screws, game cartridge reader failed, slight warp... and of course joycon drift on all my 4 controllers too.

Recently I had some things fixed, like replacing the housing, new game card reader and replaced the missing screws. So it looks decent again but I just didn’t want to hold onto it anymore, as it was the launch day switch with the poor battery life,

So I sold it last week and now impatiently waiting for the switch pro release!!!

If E3 comes and goes with no announcement of the Switch Pro, I’ll just buy the red box V2 switch.

I also don’t think Kate should be so apologetic, the switch hardware is trash!

Re: Switch Pro Rumours Intensify As New Retailer Listing Appears Online

Outspoken

@BrintaPap I’ve been in the same boat- launch day switch encountered many annoying problems just like you described.
From faulty joycons to failing cartridge reader! - which I had to diy as my Switch is now out of warranty and Nintendo wanted to charge £130 to fix!!

Needless to say, I bought a new reader and full housing as mine was cracked up near the heat vent, fixed it and sold it last week.

Me and the kids are having withdrawal symptoms lol but it’s for the best, I was actually planning to replace it with the V2 switch but with all the recent switch pro rumours, I’m waiting to see what happens in the run up to E3.

Re: Nintendo UK Is Asking For As Much As £180 To Repair Cracked Switch Consoles

Outspoken

I know this article is really old, but as Nintendo UK doesn’t observe their wrong doings, i think it’s still relevant to ask the question, are there any recommended repairers that can do these jobs in the uk without raping someone’s pocket?? My heat vent had been gradually cracking for like a year until now there’s nothing protecting it anymore!

I’ve looked at trying to do the repair myself but it seems quite involved, including heating the screen to remove from the front shell/cover.

Re: Nintendo Is Facing Another Class Action Lawsuit For Joy-Con Drift

Outspoken

@Vsaxo27 The solution of fixing the drift with compressed air or WD is basically sticking a band-aid over a bullet wound.

I use to be such a fan of Nintendo growing up but the way they’ve handled this issue is downright disappointing and dishonest for many loyal consumers. This is pure corporate greed. Nobody in their right mind should be defending their poor actions.

For people who say, “just go out and the buy the spare parts and fix yourself” I always say, think about the millions of switches owned by small children or parents who haven’t a clue what joycon drift is, but know that there is something broken with their controller and are probably blaming themselves for the fault! When its mostly likely not.

Re: Switch Named Most Fragile Product Of The Year By French Consumer's Association

Outspoken

The worrying thing, a lot of Nintendo fans were (and sadly still are) in denial about joycon drift from the start, with many that eventually suffered it, paying to fix the fault themselves instead of sending back to Nintendo - causing their warranty to elapse.

In the uk at least, if you send back to Nintendo and they repair the joycon, you get another 12 months on the warranty, better than paying out of pocket to fix/replace.

I’ve had to send back my joycons on 4 separate occasions since launch and haven’t paid a penny! and due to set up another repair in the new year, it’s a hassle i agree, but I’m not paying more for their mistakes!

Re: Bandai Namco Shares First Screenshots Of Broly In Dragon Ball FighterZ

Outspoken

Broly movie aside, I’m just sad the online lobby in this game seems to have died.(uk)

Artistically the game looks awesome with glorious visual animation and most importantly plays well imo. The only nitpick i have is that the menu UI is a tad confusing, oh and the constant server checking-in screens.

I never really followed the dragon ball series but i assumed it had enough of a bigger following for more fans to spill over to the switch version of DBFZ.

I just don’t have as much fun playing against the cpu.

Re: Review: Asphalt 9: Legends - Likeable Burnout-Style Racing Action, If You Play The Right Way

Outspoken

The review says asphalt 9 was released on mobile’s in July, is that July of this year or last? As I’m sure i downloaded it on my iPad last year but very rarely played it.

Anyway, I’ve preloaded so I’ll give it a proper go now that its on the switch with physical buttons.

I admit i use to have loads of fun with Asphalt games on my old iPhones. A6 and A8 were personal faves.
