Awww. That is a big loss. The Master System version is a great version of this classic game. I like it much more than the PC-Engine version because the screen doesn't scroll up and down which isn't true to the original. And the graphics on the SMS are beautiful. The only thing that bothers a little bit is the flickering but considering how beautiful this game is made on a Z80-based machine, it's a small price to pay.
I love the N64 because it uses cartridges. I like them more than discs because there are (almost) no loading times, they don't scratch so easily and they last forever. N64 games are often still in perfect condition after all these years while used CDs/DVDs have lots of scratches and scuff.
I'm interested in this game but I will not buy as long as there is a lack of coverage on GameFAQs. Sorrry Object Vision but a game like this without a complete walkthrough is a no-go for me.
I agree with Sneaker13. Bit.Trip Runner surely isn't worth a ten. It's much too repetitive. After beating it I would've given it a 7 at best. For Moto Heroz I don't know. It just don't looks like my kind of game.
It doesn't look like a game I would want to play at the moment. But it's nice that some are happy with it. Everything that keeps WiiWare alive is good, right?
Reminds me of a circuit diagram. Looks too "sterile" for my liking. I prefer games with colorful, imaginative and varied world design. This is also the reason why I don't really like the Bit-Trip and Art Style games.
A paint program is an fantastic idea. Thank you so much, KnapKnok Games. And now the Wii urgently needs a Kirby calculator, a Pikachu text editor for up to 8 players and a currency converter program that converts from Latinum Bars to Zenny.
Now we have "Pearl Harbor Trilogy Episode 1", "Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1", "Tales of Elastic Boy: Mission 1", "Furry Legends: Chapter One" and "escapeVektor: Chapter 1". It's the new trend in game development: Episodic games with only one episode ever made.
@James: Gargoyle's Quest is a spin-off from the arcade game series Ghosts'n Goblins. The name of the series is not Ghouls'n Ghosts like written in the article. If you don't believe me, look at this Wikipedia article.
I could imagine that WiiWare will still exist long after the Wii U is released. Why not? WiiWare games can also run on the Wii U. And what's the point in letting the Wii go down? Look at the Playstation 2. It's still strong after all that years with myriads of games.
@WaveBoy: Gargoyle's Quest on the GB and Gargoyle's Quest II on the NES are different games. The best would be to grab copies of both. Like @Sabrewing mentioned, there's also a second sequel on the SNES called Demon's Crest.
Aya and the Cubes of Light looks very interesting. I'm tempted to buy this one but I'm waiting for some reviews and game footage on YouTube.
Gargoyle's Quest is very good. It's like Mega Man meets Ghosts'n Goblins but you can cling to the walls and even fly a short distance. There are also some RPG elements. If I had a 3DS and would not own the cartridge already, I would definitely buy this gem.
The biggest pro and the biggest con of this game is the background story. It's pretty complicated. If you manage to understand it, you'll be rewarded with a great gameplay experience. If not, it just appears to be senseless, boring and meaningless stuff.
Nice to see a new WiiWare title in Europe. Unfortunately I'm not that much interested in "Flight Control". But next week comes "Aya and the Cubes of Light". That's more like my kind of game.
The graphics design in Kyotokei looks like a 9-year old has designed it after playing some PC-Engine games. And it's like most of the enemies (even bosses) only have 2 or 3 frames of animation. I guess you can not expect more for 500 Points.
The price for the european version is not set so far.
Sometimes in rare occasions prices greatly differ from one region to another. For example Gradius Rebirth costs 600 points in Europe and 1000 points in USA. Or Flowerworks costs 500 points in Europe and 1000 points in USA.
For 500 or 600 points I would buy Burn the Rope immediately. For 1000 points I have to think about it because there are still other WiiWare games for that price that interest me.
Maybe the company that made that game (Big Blue Bubble) has a surpise for us Europeans?
^ Thanks. So according to my math calculations the complete game including all level packs has 432 levels and costs 3300 points. Sounds like a lot of puzzle solving.
I only own a Wii and I hope that there will be a few more good VC and WiiWare games. I assume the releases are so few at the moment because during summer people tend to spend their money for holidays instead videogames. I hope it looks better again in October.
Why do I have the feeling the developer is not telling the whole truth? And Cave Story took forever too. Was this also the fault of the USK? Or was this due to cosmic radiation?
It might be cheaper on other systems. But regardless, it still looks like an interesting and innovative game. And 100+ levels is not that bad, assuming you like puzzle games. The only thing I do not like is the "To Be Announced (UK/EU)" (also known as: "Don't expect it!").
It looks like there's absolutely nothing more to be published for WiiWare except for a series of stale learning games.
But what is with MotoHeroz, Snowpack Park, MDK2, Frobot, Liight, The Magic Obelisk, NightSky, Eduardo the Samurai Toaster, GhostSlayer, Pole's Big Adventure, ShadowPlay, La-Mulana ?
Wouldn't it be about time to publish them in Europe? I mean, come on Nintendo, that's enough stuff for three months without everyone complaining how bad WiiWare is.
I've played more WiiWare and VC games on the Wii than retail games. Since 2007 I have played 31 games from the download shop and only 8 disc based games. For me it wasn't a disappointment. I would even say WiiWare and VC is the best thing the Wii has to offer compared to the Gamecube.
And I just could not complain:
There are enough Infos about WiiWare/VC games on the internet (especially here on this website)
The shop is very easy to use, price system is clear and simple
Configuration of the system (IP addresses etc.) is easy
I'm just wondering what happens to the WiiShop in generally (and especially the instruction manuals of WiiWare games) when the next generation (WiiU) comes out.
No WiiWare? Hm, that's not much. I almost didn't find this article because I usually only look on the WiiWare and VC tab. And next week we have one of these awkward Learning games from Tivola (according to the german Nintendo website). So this week is disappointing and next week too.
It's like Castlevania with puzzles. The problem is that most of the puzzles are like: Do some random things in one room that change some things in another room so you get some item you don't know how to use.
I mean really, the puzzles in the original freeware game are insanely confusing. At least there's a "Let's Play" on YouTube (from Deceased Crab) and a Wiki that helps with some of the puzzles. But even with a detailed walkthrough (which doesn't exist) I doubt many people have the patience to beat it.
For the 300 extra points they should've included an easy mode for people who don't like to cry while gaming.
That's a real shame. Everything I heard about this game is confirmed by this review. I still think that the graphics design, cutscenes and everything looks really fantastic. But what good is graphics when the game is not fun?
When I counted correctly this is the 6th game in the Successfully Learning... series. How many of these fantastic and interesting games do exist? I bet Tivola have a whole basement filled with them. They only need to think about what sort of a broom they would need, to remove the cobwebs.
Ark of Sinners is definitely my next WiiWare purchase. This game has everything to be awesome: It looks fantastic, reminds me of Castlevania and has a half-naked girl running around with barely-concealed breasts. --- Too bad that I've already spent my points for this month on other downloadable games. But next month there are no more excuses. Guaranteed.
These music programs can get boring very quickly. It usually takes half an hour to try out the predefined samples and sounds. And then the fun is gone real soon.
There's still no MotoHeroz, Snowpack Park, MDK2, Frobot, Liight, The Magic Obelisk, NightSky, Eduardo the Samurai Toaster, GhostSlayer, Doc Clock, Pole's Big Adventure, ShadowPlay, La-Mulana.
Also, I wonder what happens to the download service when the WiiU is released. Is this the end for the old Wii. Or will there be Wii compatible WiiWare and VC games also on the "next" Wiishop-Channel in the future?

Re: Review: 101-in-1 Explosive Megamix (WiiWare)
As long as people buy cheap crap, they will continue to produce cheap crap (i.e. forever).
Re: R-Type Being Removed from Virtual Console
^ Yes it is. There's a trick to get more continues. I don't consider this cheating because it is also mentioned in the original instruction manual.

Re: Talking Point: The Most Memorable Nintendo 64 Games
@7: I hereby nominate Castlevania64 for 1998 Nintendo 64 game of the Year.
Re: Talking Point: The Most Memorable Nintendo 64 Games
My all time favorite game is Shadow Man. Though I've never played it on the N64 but afaik the N64 and PC version are the same.
Re: Nintendo Download: 29th September 2011 (Europe)
Nothing for me this week. EscapeVektor doesn't look too bad, but not too good either.
Re: Interview: Object Vision Software - Aya and the Cubes of Light
I like puzzle games and I usually try to solve the levels on my own. But it's nice to have a walkthrough if one is needed.

I was going to buy this game but the "rock hard difficulty" turns me off for now. Maybe later when there is at least one walkthrough on GameFAQs.
