I bought this game as one of my first Gamecube titles paying Euro 70! I only bought it because it was from FACTOR5 the same company that made Turrican on the Amiga. And to be honest, I was pretty disappointed. I think you have to be a fan of the movies or else you'll get bored pretty soon.
I would buy them for sure. Not all four but at least the first one and maybe Turok: Seeds of Evil. I wanted to buy them anyway for my N64 but on VC would be even better because the Wii has a much better picture quality than the N64 (and it's not so easy to get a good copy with manual for 10 Euros).
@ImDiggerDan (#7) We have the game in Europe (though it's called Hydroventure here). I meant the rewards in general.
We have stars instead of coins. But usually you can only get odds and ends for an astronomically high sum of stars. Or you can swap stars for Wii Points. We get 100 Wii Points for 400 stars. So if I wanted to have Fluidity I would need 4800 stars!!!
Most games were cracked within the first week, some even before the official release. Then someone fiddled an intro in front of the cracked game and spread it the next day on the schoolyard enlightening the days of their schoolmates. That was very easy because the system uses floppy disks which were very cheap and you could buy them in almost every department store and make copies yourself. With a backup program that you likely got as a pirated copy too.
This was when interpersonal relationships were important. And now we have the internet.
Well, that is too bad that you cannot download Japanese games on an European or U.S. Wii console. Not that I would be interested in this title, but still.
It's like those aquarium or fireplace games: So relaxing that you fall asleep there after 40 seconds. For 500 points I'd rather buy "escapeVektor: Chapter 1" or "Aha! I Got It! Escape Game".
I also enjoyed the game very much in 2003. I have decided to play through it again (three times) last year. Once with the red- , then with the blue- and finally with the green alignment. Every round the cutscenes, where Pious talks to his master, are different. And the black guardian in chapter 9 is different. Affter finishing the third round you get that cutscene where all three ancients are defeated simultaneously.
Mega Man X2. This one is added to my wishlist. Also interesting to note that I find that the Virtual Console is now much more interesting than WiiWare. The times are changing.
After six months of nothing, it's nice to see some interesting VC games again. I'm especially interested in Mega Man X and Monster World IV. It's time to recharge the batteries and buy some more Wii points.
I have all my consoles in the closet except for the one that I'm playing with and too be honest, I'm too lazy to take out the Wii and connect all the cables for any VC or WiiWare game anymore except it is absolutely brilliant, fantastic and superb.
Oh well. Everything is unnecessarily large and the distance between controls and everything is way too large. As if you wanted to make a design for the visually impaired. Only good thing in my eyes is the new menu bar because it takes into account that there are more and more systems coming.
Sadly it's not exactly the same as the PC version. But in action it still does look quite impressing for a WiiWare as this video shows. For the price I think it is at least worth a try.
Screenshots doesn't look that bad. The GameFAQs Rating Average is 8.1 (PC-Version). In the german game magazine Power Play 1/97 it scored 77% which means "Good". If you want to read the german Power Play article look here. BTW: The original price was 100,00 DM.
Based on the last two games, the release cycle for VC games in Europe is every 223 days. So the next game is scheduled for 29 Aug 2012. And then for 09 Apr 2013.
I have played the version on the Forgotten Sands and I didn't liked it at all. On a scale from 1 to 10 I would give it a 0 despite the division by zero error that may occur. Is the SNES version really that much better? I can't believe that.
@paburrows: Wikipedia says the following: "Aside from graphic and aural enhancements, the game has twenty levels instead of the original's thirteen; the original levels that remain have some extra rooms or different routes. Also, there are boss battles that involve not only swordfighting but dodging as well. Unlike other versions, the player is given two hours to rescue the Princess."
I like Adventures of Lolo on the NES very much. Bobby Carrot might be a good choice for me. But there are also two dozens of other WiiWare games that still interest me that I have not bought yet. So I think the Bunny goes at least on my wishlist, even if it's on the "later rather than sooner" part of it.
The problem with this device is, that it gives people the technical possibility to copy copy-protected software and share it with others online or offline. And if the possibility exists, then it WILL happen. Products like this are the reason why so many websites with ROM dumps exist. I wonder why Nintendo is unable to do anything against it. Apparently, they have no desire to do so.
^ If you buy a game, you own the licence to play it. If you get a ROM from someone else, you don't own the licence and this is illegal. Some consider this theft.
However, Nintendo doesn't make a difference with dumped ROMs. Even if you own the original cartridge, they say it's illegal.
According to Nintendos official website, copying devices are illegal as Godot already said in post#24. Since the Retrode allows dumping ROMs and putting them on the internet, it is clearly illegal in the eyes of Nintendo.
On the Retrode website they say: Can I use the Retrode to dump ROMs and put them on the internet? Yes, but we don’t think you should.
My entirely comment was deleted. So I guess emulation talk is still unwanted. Sorry. But if you think that other 3rd party emulators are illegal then this Retrode thing must be illegal too. Or at least it is in legal limbo, depending on who is doing the interpretation. I think if you don't want emulation talk then you should not start it yourself.
...there's probably a good chance they don't really care if they're ever allowed to develop for them again... This is good. Less inferior games on WiiWare. Probably all Nintendo can do is blacklist them. This is sad. Poor Reggie must starve.
Huh? They have signed a non-disclosure agreement and despite that they are revealing sales data. What now? Reggie comes after them and eats them alive?
Reviews are always questionable. They are inherently subjective because they are based on opinion. I've noticed this very often: There are many games with exuberant good reviews that I hate and vice versa. Obviously, the only "good" reviews are those that match the reader's own opinion and the only way to determine wether a game is for you is by trying it yourself.
Hmmm. I'm not that keen on this title. But if they had planned a WiiWare Version I would probably buy it. I don't own any of the other consoles. So: No WiiWare version = No money from me. It's their own fault.
I would really like to know on which systems the game will be released on. Are there versions planned for Atari ST, Amiga, Amstrad CPC and Sinclair ZX81? Oh, come on Ken Balough. Don't tease us, tell us!
I remember "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego" on the Commodore 64. That must have been around 1985 or 86 or so. But I've only seen and heard about it from homecomputer magazines. Never got the actual game myself. So, no. No big fan here.
What? They only charge 71.82 Euro (54.11 Eur. + 17.71 Eur. shipping) for a shirt. Isn't that too cheap? I mean, it has the gorgeous commemorative design. Or has it?
@HugoSmits: Okay, I see. Thanks for clearing that up. I'm a bit disappointed though because I didn't liked the Apple II version. If the 16-bit console versions are anything like it, then I do not want it anyway. The real Ubi-Soft PoP games, beginning with Sands of Time, are way superior in my opinion.

Re: Nintendo Download: 23rd August 2012 (Europe)
The only game that could interest me is the VC title. Too bad it's one of those sports titles.
Re: Nintendo Download: 16th August 2012 (Europe)
No Wiiware and no VC.
Retail games on the 3DS?
Hello? Anybody alive with a Wii who uses it more than about once a fortnight at most?

I want a new LostWinds for WiiWare.

Why don't we have this in Europe??!!

I like the poll. There should be a lot more of these.

Re: Super Motherload Cancelled on WiiWare
The console generation after next is already coming 2016. So why bother with the Wii U. It's waste of time.

Frogger for WiiWare could interest me. Since Castlevania, Contra and Gradius Rebirth are all pretty good I hope this one's too.
Re: Sabarasa's Protocol Changing Platforms from WiiWare
I guess the new home for Protocol is the Nintendo 64.

Why not on Wii and WiiU? And who says that WiiWare is not on WiiU?
Re: Retro City Rampage Is Still Heading to WiiWare
Is this GTA with 2D graphics? Could be interesting. (Given the difficulty is not based on the aforementioned cameo games.)
Re: Japanese Virtual Console List: June 2012
I like how those shooters look on the NeoGeo. Really impressive. If only they were not so damn hard.

Re: Review: Monster World IV (Wii Virtual Console / Mega Drive)
I really enjoyed The Dynastic Hero (AKA Wonder Boy in Monster World). And this one looks very interesting, too. I'll get it with my next points card.
Re: La-Mulana Director Would Welcome Offers from Publishers
If nobody wants to publish it, then there must be a reason.
Re: Nintendo Download: 10th May 2012 (Europe)
Finally Monster World IV comes to europe. And it's translated by Sega, too. Best news I've heard for a long time. Looking forward to play this gem.

Monster World IV was rated April 2011. Wasn't it? And does this mean anything? Especially when VC games are released every 7-8 months.

I don't care for PoP either, but it's good that we seemingly have the VC back. Now can we have Monster World IV please?
