Re: Hardware Classics: Nintendo Game Boy

^ Many devices, as they age, develop problems with the display ribbons that run from the display to the mainboard. Let's see if the 3DS is reliable and works without problems in 24 years.

I have fixed mine with the soldering-iron trick. Now it works again without the dead lines. That was pretty easy (assuming that you have a Tri-Wing screwdriver). Thanks for posting that video man.

Oh (game)boy. I can't believe it. I just put some batteries into it and checked it and voilá... it has the vertical line issue too. I'm sure it was okay when I checked it not long ago.

Re: Hardware Classics: Nintendo Game Boy

^ The gameboy had a monochrome display which looked poor in comparison to far superior machines like the Sega Game Gear or Atari Lynx. But unfortunately (for it's rivals) the Gameboy had much better battery life and therefore sold millions of units more.

@XyVoX: Yes, you're right. The GBA SP AGS-101 has the best display and is compatible to GB and GBC games. (The only official licensed thing that can have a better, bigger and brighter display and is also compatible to all sorts of Gameboy cartridges is the Gamecube with a Gameboy Player. - Depending on your TV.)

Re: Review: Babel Rising (WiiWare)

I cannot fathom how people believe a single negative review. Babel Rising has a community of four million players. So it can't be that bad, eh? As for me, I don't believe in reviews anyways. I mean, we are all so different with our views, perspectives, likes and dislikes. The best way to find out if a game is good for you is to check it out yourself. It's only 500 points.

A new WiiWare game! Babel Rising looks like an interesting Tower Defense game. It's already available for IPhone, Mac, PC, XBox360 and PS3.

Unfortunately still no Retro City Rampage. Maybe on January 31st then?

Re: Review: Beetle Adventure Racing! (Nintendo 64)

I read these reviews with a mixed feeling. When my favourite game gets less than a great score, it always makes me feel unsatisfied. Fortunately, I have never heard of this game (and it has a good score anyway).

Re: This Trio Of New Games Proves That The NES Is Alive And Kicking

I have printed a special Pikachu one. I sell it for $19,98 per piece (+$20.00 shipping). I only have one in stock currently but if they sell good, I'll print some more.
Please note: They are not licensed by the post and cannot be used for postage. Also I print them on toilet paper and the resolution might be lacking.

...just because it is not licensed by Nintendo, it's not necessarily a complete judgment call on its quality.

That is quite possible. All I said in the posts above is that I wouldn't play/buy unlicensed games. And I don't want them in my collection. Why is it so difficult to accept? I don't said they're bad or not worth anything. If you're a collector of unlicensed games I have no doubt it's worth anything- for you.

Re: This Trio Of New Games Proves That The NES Is Alive And Kicking

It doesn't matter what I have in my collection or how good/bad unlicensed games are. I don't want them because I'm a Nintendo fan and not fan of any kind of homebrew stuff.

If you collect stamps. Would you want to add a stamp to your collection that I just printed with my inkjet printer?

It's not a lack of faith in what they're making, it is a faith in the original hardware and wanting to make something for it specifically as fans of the system itself.

Maybe they're big fans of the NES. Maybe they only want to make some cash. Maybe a bit of both. I don't know. But what I do know is that I don't want stuff like that in my collection.

WiiLovePeace wrote:

What I want to know is: why are you people even questioning whether or not this is Nintendo licensed?!

I can only speak for myself: I'm questioning it because I don't collect unlicensed games. And that's all. If you still want them for any reason then go for them. I do not mind.

So the only option to make new games for an old console is to make it unlicensed.

Yes. And an option for collectors would be: Collect all the licensed titles first. I doubt that anybody already has all of them.

Yes, the Gameboy SP AGS-101 is IMO by far the best Gameboy ever made. It has a fantastic display, just the right size and is fully compatible to every Gameboy title that exists.

Okay. The Micro is nice, too. As a key fob.
