Shantae is finally here? So...yeah, I'm totally excited for this game!!! Too bad that I don't own a Nintendo DSi. Then I'll probably have to settle for the Gladiators Demo. That is also okay. The other two WiiWare games don't interest me at all. Boo!
I don't know who or what a Pucca is. But the game looks fresh and interesting. And the concept is something that isn't seen a lot. Because there are currently no other WiiWare games that interest me, I'll maybe give it a shot.
S.C.A.T totally reminds me off Forgotten Worlds, like Starboy91 already said. It looks a bit like Contra too. And a bit like 80's sci-fi movies. And the names of the main characters are Arnold and Sigourney. Haha.
There is a trick to start your game where you left off. Combine this with the Wii's ability to save your progress and it is not so incredibly frustrating as it seems.
LIT is definitely one of the best puzzle games on WiiWare. I like the gloomy atmosphere and how the camera switches to first person perspective to view your surroundings and aim at objects.
It has 25 Levels and 5 unique boss levels. The last two levels (with the many oscillating lights and the principal) are pretty hard because they require pin point timing, but with a bit practice it's perfectly doable and I've never encountered any problems with the controls.
Finally, a demo is available so people can find out for themselves how good this game is.
if you want real frustration try going back in time and having to multi-load 8-bit games off a cassette tape.
O yeah! I had tapes where the loading time was 20 minutes or so (no fastload). And I remember how angry I was when at the end the dreaded ?LOAD ERROR READY. appeared on the screen. He he...old good times.
I still have both, R-Type for the GB and R-Type DX for the GB/GBC. It's a long time since I last played them. I like the DX version more because it's much easier than the first Game Boy appearance of the R9 fighter.
When I remember correctly, in R-Type DX you could even save your progress after each level to the battery backed up memory and continue later. That makes it very accessible even for the most bloody beginners. The first Game Boy game unfortunately lacks this feature.
I don't think that I would spend 5 bucks on a game like this. But compared to Nintendo Life standards a 6 is a fairly good rating. Maybe it's a lot better than the average game of this type.
I don't know why... but this game makes me think of the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie Conan the Barbarian. And Rastan and Rygar on the Sega Master System.
Black Tiger looks like a game that I could have much fun with. I used to have these games on the Commodore 64. Space Harrier, Ghosts'n Goblins, Black Tiger, Forgotten Worlds... They all existed on the "bread box". But I never dreamt of having the original arcade versions. That's fantastic. Oh, and I hope we get Ghouls'n Ghosts Arcade, too.
I'm a big fan of these type of Indie games. I can't wait for it to be released in europe. I asked Stickmen Studios when it's coming to EU and if there is a german translation and they answered:
"It will be released in Europe soon, but we don't have a specific release date for it yet. It will have a German translation."
Aw, I'm not into racing games at all. But if I were, I would probably put this on top of my wish list. The name Shin'en is almost a guarantee for impressive graphics in WiiWare games.
I can't help but after watching this 20 minute video, I still think it looks like a very funny game. Even watching this video was more fun than playing some other "high rated" WiiWare games. It may have its minor glitches, but what game doesn't? And it seems to me that the rewind function reduces the problems somewhat. I always liked the mix of platformer, puzzle and adventure. If this comes to europe with a german translation I'll sure give it a try. [youtube:YKFXAxlgI7I&feature=feedlik]
Is it only the Wiiware version that you think is bad? Or do you think that the downloadable PC version, which already received some good reviews, is bad as well?
Walls of dialogue ... leap up to explain what's happening
I wonder if the walls of dialogue are translated for the european countries. I found it very disappointing in Final Fantasy: My Life as a King and Tales of Monkey Island that they were not. Why? Why do they hate us, Europeans, so much?
Nothing for me this week. I don't want family games. But I download the demos and add them to my demo collection even if I already own the full versions.
Back in the 80s, I bought the Commodore 16/+4 version of this game. It was so bad that nobody would believe it. There were screenshots of the arcade version on the box and I seriously thought the game would look like these screenshots.
But in fact it looked like this: [youtube:WH6xhBPkx5Y]
I've tried the demo and I am not convinced of this game. The graphics are not that bad but the gameplay gets quickly repetitive and adds nothing interesting. I think the review score is too high, given that much better games like Robox only have a 5.
I'm interested in Ghosts'n'Goblins. But if this game is as hard (or one might say unfair) as the Gameboy Color or the NES version, I better leave the fingers of it.
I would rather buy the Commodore 64 version.
I would even say I am extremely interested in the Commodore 64 version. It is easier (the last two levels are omitted and you don't need to play through the game twice) and that makes it better and more enjoyable for me than the NES/GBC versions.
It is still hard enough but with some practise it is perfectly doable. And it is pretty much the only C64 game that I am still interested in today.
We have a total of 225 WiiWare games in EU and only around 17 demos. I'm not sure if cycling through the demos so soon is a good idea. And you can copy all your demos to the harddisk of your PC (or elsewhere) to keep them forever.
Bit.Trip Beat? Again? Can you please give us some new demos, Nintendo? No? It seems to me that there are no more new demos at the moment because other developers refuse to put the work into demo versions.
I bought Hydroventure yesterday after playing the demo. At first I wasn't that enthused about it because you have to fiddle around a lot with the controls and always wait to keep the water together. But it's fun once you get used to it. For me, this is one of the true gems on the WiiWare service and worth the 1200 points. It's original and motivating and runs with a smooth framerate. And I don't say that to every game.
For the low price it doesn't look bad to me. Judging from YouTube videos, I like it more than "Zombie Panic in Wonderland" because in Zombie Panic you always have the same background per level whereas in Heavy Fire you move through the areas, even if it is only on rails.
I only wonder if this will be released in germany too without getting indexed by the USK. When even "Stop Stress a day of Fury" cannot officialy be downloaded (without changing the system language to english).
How many levels are there in single playa mode? How can you save da game? Are there different difficulty settings? How difficult is it to complete da game?
On my PC the video has a very low framerate too when running with 720p. When I switch to 360p the framerate is okay.
If the game would be a real first person shooter (without the rails), I would say: Wow! Looks almost as good as FarCry. But on-rail shooters don't really interest me.
I would prefer a real shooter with toned down graphics over an on-rails shooter with very good graphics. So, when do we get Doom ReBirth? Sorry, I mean Doom Classic. There's already a version for the IPhone so why no WiiWare?
I don't see what's the problem with copyright. But it's just for fun nonetheless, so mono is good enough. Can you use any USB microphone for the PC. Or must it be a special one?
I have heard they have a server where you can export your music. Maybe they add the possibilty to import stereo WAV or MP3 files in the future via the same server.
What has Konami to do with My Fireplace? If they have anything to do with it, I guess the Konami Code turns your fireplace into a flamethrower with unlimited fuel. Maybe this makes the 'game' more interesting.
@Demonic S+33V: Good to know. There is another thing that interests me: I have a lot of sound samples on the PC. Is there a way to import some of them into Mix Superstar?
I had a very similar program for the PC almost 12 years ago. I think it was called "Magix Music Maker". Oh, man. I spent countless hours on creating my own music. Then I burned all my arrangements to a CD-R (which was pretty new back then) and lost everything due to a corrupted disc. That was not funny. - Now I can try again on the Wii.
@kkslider5552000: Yes, it was done on purpose. But I think that the difficulty is not very well balanced. I'm sure that there are people who love it nonetheless. If you are a masochist and if you enjoy slamming your fingers in a car door then this is the perfect game for you.

I don't want this game, and I'm not very likely to buy it when it comes to europe. Maybe a demo can change my mind...?

Let's Play Doc Clock - 03
Let's Play Doc Clock - 04

BTW: I have seen the steam version with german text. So I guess they localize it for the EU regions.
