The best news since Fludity/Hydroventure was announced. Looks like Castlevania and NyxQuest mixed together. And it looks phantastic. And the game will be released in July? Wait, that's next month? Wow. I must soon reload some points into my WiiShop account. WiiWare is not dead. Hooray! @mizumaru: She's wearing almost no clothes because during june to september its very hot in spain.
This game reminds me of Gremlin Graphic's "Trailblazer" from 1986. But how is this "Action, Adventure"? An Action-Adventure? Like Zelda? Or Tomb Raider? I would rather say it's "Racing, Arcade" If you really must put it into a genre.
I just can't believe there's still not a single WiiWare game. Where is MDK2, Frobot, Liight, The Magic Obelisk, NightSky, Eduardo the Samurai Toaster, GhostSlayer, Pole's Big Adventure, ShadowPlay, La-Mulana?
...back in 2009 SEGA knocked 40% off select Virtual Console games over the Christmas period. Oh, yes. I remember that. And I remember that I totally missed this opportunity.
@4, 8, 10, 13: Yes, there were >16 comments which were all deleted. This is because Nintendo Life runs on a Commodore 64 and they need to save memory. But jokes aside, the article disappeared and when it reappeared later the comments were gone.
I think Episode 1 is a pretty cool game and I am interested in Episode 2. Originally I hated these episodic games but with long intervals in between it's okay for me. My only criticism is the high price of 1500 points. They may want to reduce it to 1000 points (or less) if they want more buyers.
@Drake:Thanks. If the game has battery backed up memory, there's no need for passwords. In a YouTube video I saw that this game even has an overworld where you travel from island to island on a raft. It looks like if you were fighting some random short battles like in Gargoyle's Quest. That looks interesting. The more I know about this game, the more I want it!
I never liked the first Wonderboy because it is too hectic for my liking. But if this one is similar to Wonder Boy III or Wonder Boy in Monster World it might be promising. But before I buy a Retro game I need to know the following (what should be mentioned in every review imho):
a) Unlimited Continues? b) Password System? c) Battery Backed up memory?
@James: In January I was really interested in "Doc Clock and the Toasted Sandwich of Time" (despite the devastating NL review). So I asked Stickmen Studios when to expect it in Europe. And they answered: "Doc Clock will be released in Europe and it will be available in German. It should be available in February or March." Okay so whoops. February or March 2029?
@James: How do you know? On their website they say indeed it's coming "Summer 2011", but given that this is not always reliable, how can you be so sure? I think as long as no release date is confirmed, chances are that the release can be withdrawn at any time.
I was interested in this game when I first heard of it. But will Aya make it to Europe? By all means, there are too many good WiiWare titles still not released in Europe.
Super Adventure Island II might be a fairly good game. But I'm waiting for Monster World IV. Also, it's disappointing that some WiiWare games didn't make it to Europe. For example MDK2, Frobot, Liight and The Magic Obelisk.
@Drake: I've played the game 99.9% and I think it's unnecessary/confusing/just flat out weird. But I'm glad that you enjoyed it. And it proves that not everyone has the same opinion on games.
I love Fluidity/Hydroventure and World of Goo. They are two of the best WiiWare games ever made imho. But I'm not sure about this one. While Fluidity and WoG both use scalable and rotatable vector graphics, Overflow seems to only have simple bitmap graphics. It reminds me of some really old low budget games for the Amiga.
^ They have made Art of Balance, Jett Rocket and Fun! Fun! Minigolf for WiiWare. The first two are both decent games. For a complete list of games look here.
Nothing for me this week. I'm not so hyped for Fast as everyone else. I'm waiting for MDK2, since this is more my kind of game. Unfortunately next weeks comes Yard Sale Hidden Treasures: Sunnyville. Nintendo has apparently still some junk games to fill-in the weeks. Oh well. Something is better than nothing, I guess.
Nintendo Points cards are are now called eShop cards. I don't see any difference. It's one and the same thing. Or what? (BTW: Amazon still sells the good old Nintendo Points cards in germany.)
I'm not a fan of the genre and won't buy it. But it looks absolutely fantastic and I'm sure that fans of the Racing genre will like it very much. It's so sad this is, by now, one of the few quality WiiWare games that see the light of day.
I also wonder what is wrong with WiiWare. Does Nintendo not want my money anymore? They make the same mistake as with the Gamecube: They discontinue any noteworthy support even before the next generation is released. - Meh. Can we Europeans at least still get MDK2?
Thanks to those who have mentioned the difficulty levels and Quick Save. These features makes the game interesting for me. And it does not look bad. What I saw in YouTube video looks really nice. This could be my next WiiWare purchase. Hope it comes to Europe soon.
I find it somewhat disappointing that "DoReMi Fantasy: Milon's DokiDoki Adventure" has no translation. This is one of my favourite games even in its Japanese-only form.
Fortunately, they have done the work for Monster World 4. (Or copied it from an already existing ROM-patch?) In any case, MW4 is one of my most anticipated VC games.
I'm not really a fan of this genre and I doubt this game will convert me. The last Sim that I've played was "Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King" and I found that boring as hell.
This game looks totally amazing. The vibrant colors and the art style remind me of DoReMi Fantasy on the SNES. And the original MD game has battery backed up memory + platforming and RPG elements. Yeah, this is exactly the kind of game that I like. I hope it comes to europe soon.
In the last few weeks (or months?) there were only mediocre to worse WiiWare titles. The last really good one was Hydroventure/Fluidity in my opinion. And just when you think it can't get any worse, Nintendo surprises us with something new: Nothing. Not even a demo. Is this the end of WiiWare as we know it?
Play with birds seems not to be the best game in the world. But I think La-Mulana is also crap, either recycled or basic. I don't want both of them. Nintendo Quality Control at least prevented one horrible game from being released.
Hmm, this "thing" at the top of the screen reminds me of Contra 3. It looks a little bit like the Squito Nest after you climb the wall in level 3. Complete with searchlight. Konami is everywhere.
^ For "Stop Stress" I knew this already. I even tried to change my language to UK but changed it back to german afterwards.
I wonder why that is. Okay for "Stop Stress", "Toribash" and "Fast Draw Showdown" I can imagine what the reasons are. They have something to do with a) destroying helpless office supplies, b) killing people by decapitating them and throwing their heads out of the ring or c) cold-blooded killing people with your revolver. That are real killergames that need to be banned.
But what is with "Shadow Dancer" and "Cricket Challenge". They do not look so violent? And why is "Heavy Fire" allowed in germany? Ahem?
I don't have the WiiWare demo (Fast Draw Showdown). I can't even see the full version. When I search for "Demos" it's not there and when I search for "Digital Leasure" it will not be displayed too. Is this game not available in germany?
I'm always only looking at WiiWare. Still waiting for Liight, Doc Clock and Frobot to come to europe. Those learning games for children are nothing for me.

So, Thursdays instead of Fridays in Europe. Does that mean we get the downloads one day earlier? Or six days later?

Re: Review: FAST - Racing League (WiiWare)
This is the best looking WiiWare game that I don't buy. (Sorry, I don't like racing games.) But I save my money for the next big thing from Shin'en.

I've played the free PC version and I wouldn't play this game again even if I was given $100 to do so. I really don't see the fascination in it.

"Unforgiving difficulty" and "Game can be brutal"? Sounds like this is a very frustrating game.

WiiWare, where are you?

Re: 3DS Console and WiiWare Games On Offer in Abylight Contest
They have 150 copies of their game and one 3DS. Hm, the other way round it would be more interesting.
Re: Nintendo Download: 29th April 2011 (Europe)
Now if they would only release Monster World IV. I would happily spend my money for VC instead of WiiWare.

Re: Review: S.C.A.T.: Special Cybernetic Attack Team (Virtual Console / NES)
What's the problem with the title? Is "scat" an indecent word? Why does the Black Dragon not replace it with something like R.O.S.E. or L.I.L.Y.?
