escapeVektor: Chapter 1 is heading towards a worldwide launch later this month, as developer Nnooo has announced it's due on 29th September.
The retro-themed shooter/puzzler will cost just 500 Nintendo Points when it lands on WiiWare in North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand at the end of the month. We played it back in February and rather liked what we saw, so read our escapeVektor: Chapter 1 First Impressions for an idea of what to expect, and check out the trailer too.

PRESS RELEASE: Nnooo announces release date and price for escapeVektor™: Chapter 1.
Australian based games developer Nnooo has announced the release date and price for its upcoming WiiWare™ game escapeVektor: Chapter 1.
The game will be released in The Americas, Europe, Australia and NZ on September 29th and will cost 500 Nintendo Points.
escapeVektor: Chapter 1 is a retro styled arcade game in which the player controls Vektor, an entity trapped inside the player’s CPU. The player has to help Vektor escape and in doing so, avoid enemies sent out by the CPU to track Vektor down. Each enemy type has different hunting patterns and intelligence, and as the player completes the various levels in the game, escape becomes more difficult. New abilities unlock to help the player outwit and destroy the CPU’s army.
“We’ve made a game which we believe will appeal to casual through to more dedicated gamers”, said Nic Watt, Creative Director at Nnooo. “The gameplay is straightforward enough for everyone to pick up but the the game itself becomes increasingly complex, particularly if the player wants to complete all levels without using Detonate, one of Vektor’s abilities. We’ve also included 40 badges for players to collect.”
As the player continues through the game, old code and memories are unlocked which reveal more about Vektor’s past. This chapter will be the first in a series of escapeVektor games which will follow the adventures of Vektor.
“There are 30 levels to play and a medal system which will challenge the most hardcore gamer”, said Watt. “We’ve also gone for that retro arcade feel and backed it up with some great music. In addition, bonus levels open up if you own our other WiiWare game, Pop. We’ll be releasing more details about the game over the coming weeks.”
escapeVektor: Chapter 1 marks a return to WiiWare for Nnooo after the highly successful Pop™, one of only 6 launch titles for WiiWare in the Americas.

escapeVektor: Chapter 1 is scheduled for release on WiiWare in The Americas, Europe, Australia and NZ on September 29th for 500 Nintendo Points.

This is a cool game. Looking forward to playing the finished product.
Looks like a nice original game. Too bad though that the visual style is so minimalistic and modern. I mean, how hard could it have been to have some little spaceship animation and aliens and stars instead of simply arrows and a grid?
But despite this little negative comment I'm going to get this game when it's released because the game-play looks fun!
Now we have "Pearl Harbor Trilogy Episode 1", "Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1", "Tales of Elastic Boy: Mission 1", "Furry Legends: Chapter One" and "escapeVektor: Chapter 1". It's the new trend in game development: Episodic games with only one episode ever made.
Is there still going to be a 3DS version, because I'd rather have that?
SennaKurosaki, the visual style is deliberately minimalistic. We want the player to feel like Vektor is trapped inside the CPU so the graphics are abstract. Thanks for your comments on gameplay. We think it's a lot of fun!
Omega, there will definitely be more chapters. We are pretty far through Chapter 2 already!
iphys, we plan on a 3DS version but it won't be out for some time yet.
@Bruce_Thomson: In terms of gameplay, which game(s) would you compare eV to?
@7ATalavera, definitely has a Pac_Man vibe to it. Influenced by Geometry Wars, Every Extend Extra and the BIT.TRIP series.
Oh man, I forgot about this game. Soon it shall be mine!
Wow so glad it's only 500 points. A definite buy for me (when I can afford another damn $20 card).

Okay. Good to know. How many chapters will it have? And can we expect all of them for WiiWare? Or will this be continued on WiiU Ware?
@Omega, 4 chapters, all for WiiWare.
@Bruce_Thomson: Any gameplay differences between chapters, or they basically extra level packs?
At any rate, I'll definitely pick up Episode 1 at least. Saying that, I still haven't even picked up F.A.S.T. ...might be time to rectify that.
@SuperSuchiLax: Great question! There will be changes to the styles of the levels depending on the theme of each chapter, We will also be introducing new enemy types, some new puzzle elements to make life even harder for Vektor and we'll be making more use of different modes.
We're working on Chapter 2 at the moment. It's definitely going to be more challenging than Chapter 1.
Nooooooooo! Just kidding!
The computer had no capslock?
Lol!
