Quelle surprise with more stingy DLC from Nintendo like with Donkey Kong Bananza. Considering that the DLC for Scarlet and Violet cost a few more $$$, this DLC for Legends Z-A has signs of slim pickings. Perhaps there might be more to it that they will reveal at a later date.
Maybe this bodes well for a Nintendo Direct later this month. Usually a game-focused Direct would follow a general Direct but given the close proximity to this game's release, Nintendo has decided for it to come out earlier due to the change in box art.
This is now available on the My Nintendo Store. I've decided to go for the Switch 2 version, although I prefer the cover art for the Switch 1 without the jarring red banner. Since it looks like the Upgrade Pack won't be free for NSO + Expansion Pack members, I would rather have the game on one cartridge instead of faffing about over a cartridge and a download code.
Still surprised no pre-order bonus items for Mario Kart World and - more than likely at this stage - Donkey Kong Bananza!
I do not think Mr Bowser fully understands what game-key cards are as he says they are to allow publishing partners 'to bring more content onto the platform, deeper and larger, more immersive content on the platform.'
This does not make sense as in order to play a game that is tied to a game-key card, a download is required, regardless of the size of the download.
The least they could do is add BotW DLC to the Expansion Pack like they have done with Splatoon 2, Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe!
@Serpenterror Funny on how the one with Waves 1-6 on it still says 'More courses from the Mario Kart series are coming' considering Wave 6 was supposedly the last part of the Booster Course Pass. Mario Kart 8: Double Deluxe anyone?
While not the most creative of trailers seeing as it was a rehash of King K. Rool's one, the Banjo & Kanzooie trailer still remains my overall favourite as it seemed improbable it would ever happen.
Sephiroth's trailer comes in a close second. It had the best story, graphics and also excellent shock factor during its reveal at the Game Awards in 2020.
My third place is for Sora. Beautiful trailer, in particular Sora coming through the keyhole and the music, as well as the callbacks to game's original reveal trailer with the Inklings.
I really miss the reveal trailers now that development of the game has ended; the Directs are not as exciting. Hopefully more to come when/if SSBU Deluxe is revealed for the Switch 2.
@rjejr They have stopped making Special Editions of the Switch Lite completely. Last one was for Diamond and Pearl remakes. Even the OG Switch got a new special edition earlier this year with the release of the Mario movie. Also it sells the least according to the weekly Japanese sales figures. OLED variant is also soon to outsell the Lite variant entirely in Japan.
This is the reason why we got this Wonder Direct as it would have been a bit late to announce it in the middle of September during the proper Direct. Think it would have made more sense to launch a Wonder-themed Nintendo Switch Lite model but they are probably phasing out the Lite variants.
It makes total sense. Instead of spending a couple of days in a recording studio per year with all that dialogue, why not just send him all over the world instead, which would take less time.
In all seriousness, maybe the next Mario game is to get voice acting, which would explain why a change is needed.
We will be getting a GameBoy game and that will be released at the end of the presentation: Pokémon Trading Card Game!
No way are we getting Red and Blue tomorrow. They might show them quickly and say releasing in 2024, at best. Nintendo are keeping Nintendo Switch Online for its next console so it's almost guaranteed that they will be drip feeding games for years to come.
There will also be a gameplay trailer for Pokémon Sleep to last 20 minutes, filling up the ~ 35 minutes nicely.
Also, a new app called Pokémon Wipe. After getting trainers exercising with Pokémon Go, dozing off with Pokémon Sleep, and getting those teeth sparkly white with Pokémon Smile, The Pokémon Company now brings you Pokémon Wipe, where you use your smartphone on a piece of toilet paper which transforms it into a Lickitung and well, you can imagine the rest! 🤣
Only way I can see Nintendo doing anything more with this game is through paid DLC.
It'd be called the Resort Club Membership Pass - either a one-off purchase or part of the NSO + Expansion Pass à la Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass.
Certain sports to be added over different waves and it'll be announced in next month's June Nintendo Direct
I chose the BoTW.
While I think ToFK certainly will have a better story and may end up being a better game, this trailer #3 was expected to happen. This was not the case for BoTW and it created a lot of hype for the game. Plus BoTW was a wholly new experience - yes, ToFK is not just "more of the same" but there will be sense of familiarity that you definitely would not have felt when first playing BoTW.
Both epic trailers, though!
Plus after re-watching the BoTW trailer, the music at the beginning reminded me of James Bond music from the Pierce Brosnan era.
Isn't it odd that the recent Game Trials was FIFA 23 and now Nintendo promoting this directly on their socials.
I also love how the article says 'seemingly' confirming a Switch version, yet the Switch logo is in the bottom left-hand corner. This is more than seemingly, it's 100% confirmed.
Gen 1 music in the video.
I'd say the Gameboy games are the only ones coming and by that I mean Red and Blue (Green for Japan), no Gen 2 or 3 games yet. If they are feeling generous, Yellow will be included. This will also link to N64 Pokémon Stadium games.
Scarlet and Violet DLC, of course. I don't know why people think Kalos is coming, it will just be a new area, not a return to a previous region.
Detective Pikachu 2 revealed for June 2023.
EDIT: Scarlet/Violet could also release part of the Expansion Pass this month, too.
No interest in the mobile games, which will no doubt take up the first few minutes.
There was a first-party Nintendo title revealed during the Nintendo Direct that had not been announced officially: Metroid Prime Remastered.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet sold 20.61 million in 6 weeks, double that of the PS5's focal holiday title, God of War Ragnarok. The PS5 will more than likely be the best-selling console this year but the Switch will sell the most software, which is what the president of Nintendo has said where they will turn the attention to now.
Before the September Direct, we had no concrete details for games to be released in 2023. From that Direct alone, Fire Emblem Engage and Kirby Return to Dreamland Deluxe were unveiled with early 2023 release dates. Zelda TotK got its release date and Pikmin 4 was teased. The Game Awards brought the new Bayonetta Origins game and following the February Direct, release dates were given for Pikmin 4 and Advance Wars.
The February Direct Ronseal'd the release schedule and did - for the most part - actually what it said on the tin by focusing on games releasing over the next six months. The only gap, per se, is June as it has nothing so far scheduled. Last year, Mario Strikers and Fire Emblems Warriors: Three Hopes were both released in June. Naturally, Zelda TofK is a monumental release but I still think that there will be a first-party release from our (good?) friends at The Pokémon Company. I have read elsewhere that Detective Pikachu 2 is nearing completion and I could see that or another spinoff snagging up that June 2023 spot.
I also do not think Nintendo will launch its Switch 2 until 2025. Plus it has to be backwards compatible as the Switch is too popular to move on from at this stage. A revision to the Switch Lite would make sense later this year to generate some 'new' hardware hype.

It's a actually two additional key presses. There is an 'm' and a '/' to enter.
Edit: Rightly corrected that it's only one additional key press and not two!

That picture used of him gives the impression he has just let one go, so to speak, and he does not care one bit, the real Wind Maker.
