It's a shame. Those games don't deserve a million in sales.

@Bobb But they did make Sca/Vi actively worse than Sw/Sh. Sw/Sh was criticized back then, but it looked and ran much better than disastrous Sca/Vi. Looking at these patches, there's no hope for Pokemon to improve. As long as people buy those games. I for one won't ever again. There's alternatives now.

@DennisReynolds For now. And the franchise is way bigger than the games. The low-quality games can die, as they should. The still can sell stuffed animals to toddlers.

Is this a digital only release?

I hope Pokemon players jump ship and GameFreak feels the hurt. They deserve to go down and the Pokemon franchise should finally die!

It will be exhausting. My hope is for the February Direct to give us some real hard hints.

Nintendo Switchetoo/Switche2

NintendoLife is gonna run out of readers before we get proper Nintendo news again with the February Direct. So far, 2024 is a news desert

The thing is, the Switch will continue to sell well even if they release a successor. So it doesn't matter when they release it as long as it isn't too late. All they need to do is make sure they manage the transition well when Switch and Switch 2 games will release in parallel. Then they just make to need a strong case for upgrading to Switch 2 by releasing their next tentpole titles exclusively for 2.

By the way, awesome that we can now talk about a possible Switch 2 THIS year (;

I'm scared to face it, but yes, I think they can and they might.

No TotK? Sacrilege!
My list would probably be (in no specific order):

1. Metroid Prime Remastered
2. Tears of the Kingdom
3. Mario Bros Wonder
4. One category for solid ports of great games to finally have on Switch: Hogwarts Legacy, Batman Arkham, Red Dead Redemption) - yes, there is (unreasonably overblown) criticism; the games on Switch are still great.
5. Suika game - Nintendo should try to get more of those exclusivly, they play nicely to the Switch's strenth and image

So glad Pokémon is over. It’s a relief. Never again.

You need tou add Unspottable. You can play it with up to 8 players in local mode and it's a sublime social experience.

@Olliemar28 No problem; sometimes you just sound a little defensive about it, like you're being judged. Luckily, Nintendo as opposed to certain competitors, offers enough great games for all tastes haha

I don't understand why Ollie Reynolds feels the need to so aggressively flaunt his dislike of TotK in almost every article that opens up the space for it. It's okay to not like it, many people don't. I personally have 250 hrs in it and am still not near the end, best game of all time. To each his own.

86 games played for a total of 1500 hrs.
Most played is SPLATOON 3!?! What? It came out last year! Somehow I've accumulated 293 hours, what's going ON?
Anyway, it's closely followed by the stellar TotK, which I've enjoyed for 274 hours, a large portion of which in May. And I'm still only at 65% completion rate. Dear Lord!

F Yeah! That's what I'm talking about! Anything can be great on Switch if developers take optimization seriously.

Everytime I see a DK-themed header, I get so excited only for my heart to sink once I read the title. Don't do this to me while there's rumors of a DK 3D open worlder out there!

@Yoshif3 I apologize, I wasn't completely clear about the point. I meant that people on the Internet, participating in the gaming discourse, are altogether a minority. So even if 90% of Internet commentary was negative, it wouldn't mean much. As we could see with the Hogarts Legacy "boycott" or other shenanigans. But it fells good to vent, of course. You have every right to do that.

@Yoshif3 You're making the mistake of mistaking a certain faction of hardcore videogame fans who read gaming sites with even a fraction of the dozens of millions who bought TotK without ever thinking about stuff like that.

@ERIC_MACK Fair and correct judgment. You can prefer the old dungeons, but also recognize they don't fit the BotW formula.

@MS7000 How does needing to find one specific key in one specific room in order to advance the dungeon breed creativity? How do hard-locked areas you can't get to before a plot event breed creativity?
