It's funny, I just noticed before reading this that some games are getting Switch 2 updates! I'm hoping that "Stray" eventually is one of those games that gets updates for the Switch 2 as well!
What is wrong inside the culture of Nintendo where they COMPLETELY go deaf when we ask for meaningful things like "A REAL - TRULY ROBUST - ONLINE SERVICE" or maybe a "SIMPLIFIED GAME AND/OR SAVE DATA TRANSFER SYSTEM" or perhaps a "UNIVERSAL E-SHOP COMPATIBLE ACROSS ALL PLATFORMS"?!
I'm sure there are going to be a few folks that will be happy about this game.
But omg, there is an overwhelming majority of Switch owners with truly worthwhile suggestions that Nintendo scoffs at and is like: "Nah! But hey, here's Wii MUSIC!"
1. I have FOUR Nintendo Switches now (Original, ACNH Edition, White OLED, Splatoon 3 OLED Edition; Which is GORGEOUS).
2. I'm just not a big fan of the look on this one. I hope this doesn't trigger anyone, BUT... I think it's very underwhelming.
3. I'm holding out in hopes that IF we ever get Metroid Prime 4, we'll see a snazzy-looking Metroid Edition OLED. I'll gladly dip a fifth time for a Metroid Edition OLED.
@Westlondonmist Yep, this is true! Specifically for Power Drive Rally, Primal Rage, AVP, Wolfenstein and Doom. And I wish they could have obtained them because they're games that I felt showcased the system best.
I'm incredibly disappointed in that Jaguar list because I know (And I'm a Jaguar owner btw) that there's actually some really decent games for the system. But for some reason, they went with these.
Tempest 2000, Dino Dudes and Missile Command 3D are the only games on the list that people will like (maybe Club Drive too if you're into setting/breaking speed run times).
Other games that I feel should have made the list are: Iron Soldier, Power Drive Rally, Ultra Vortek (w/Speed Mode Turned on), Wolfenstein 3D, DOOM, Defender 2000, Syndicate, Primal Rage and Alien Vs Predator (even though it was sooo BORING, I felt like that game set the graphics bar for consoles really high for it's time).
PS: The worse game for that system IS Trevor McFur. Trust me, don't play it.
@Andy_Witmyer Yes, I was actually referring to the games when I said that. I'm so damn old that I naturally assume that no one has watched any of the cartoons or seen the original movie. Also, most of the backlash I'm seeing here is comparing Chris Pratt to what they hear in the games, sooo...
But anyway, YES, I'm very much looking forward to the movie and cannot wait to hear a properly voiced Mario!
I'm also curious to see if any of this could HOPEFULLY sway Nintendo into giving us a Zelda movie...? Maybe?? Please?!?
I mean, some of us are in that age bracket where we can only wait so much longer now, hehe! xD
This poll shouldn't exist with so little to go on.
But, I DO think Chris Pratt will be perfectly fine as the voice of Mario. I couldn't sit thru 90 minutes of "Weee, it's-a-meeee, MAAAAARIO!! Okie-dokieee!! MAMA-MIAAAA!!" I mean, it's fine for the games and all, but not for a full length movie. And that's why we have Chris Pratt.
Remember, this is going to be the first time EVER hearing Mario in actual meaningful dialogue. I know, I know... alot of you THINK you've been hearing Mario dialogue this whole time, but you haven't. All we've had from him are those tiny little "It's-a-meeee" and "Mama Mia" lines. I think Chris will bring so much more to the movie. Nintendo certainly believes in him and so do I.
I'm just happy that they are doing voice acting for her at all.
Samus NEEDS to be voiced. I know alot of us have problems with Other M, but I was thrilled to finally have her voiced in that game. It has to be there going forward.
I agree, it can't just be anyone. And it cannot be sexualized or sensualized. And I'd imagine that finding the right person for this will be HARD.
I haven't finished Dread yet, but the portrayal of her in that game so far (along with the small bits of voicing for her that I've come across) are PERFECT. Everything about her screams BADASS.
I'm excited to see where the series goes from here!
I was a little worried that this was going to be the end and that everything would just merge on over to Prime (which I don't want... I'm not all that big on the Prime games like I am with the 2D games).
If I didn't already own a Switch I'd probably be all over this.
I just can't justify it at that price, especially with Steam DECK right around the corner afterwards for only $50 more.
I'm docked about 75% of the time. It's pretty uncommon for me to take my Switch with me anywhere, unless MAYBE I'm on the verge of missing a day in Animal Crossing. But even then, it probably stays docked!
You know what would incentivize me to play more in handheld mode? A performance bump. Not a big bump, but just enough so that the games that DO struggle in handheld mode match what we get in docked mode. If not, then maybe extend the battery life..?
Hey, OLED is nice, but I would prioritize either of the two things I just mentioned over OLED, because for the most part, we've been asking about them.
Personally, I literally have zero complaints about the Nintendo's current screen and sound quality on Switch.
But anyway, unless the price comes down or more revisions are made to justify the cost, I'm gonna pass and get a DECK.
Well, since I already own a Switch, almost NEVER play it in Handheld Mode, AND Switch OLED is only $50 shy of the more capable Steam DECK, I see no reason at all for myself to choose the Switch OLED over the Steam DECK.
So for me, it's a Steam Deck!
Now, if you're brand-spanking-new to Nintendo Switch (or just reeeeeeally love Handheld Mode that much and the $199 Switch Lite is just too inexpensive for you), then perhaps the Switch OLED is the choice for some of you. ⭐
@StuOhQ Yeah, you know why it's so frustrating? It's because we have such a massive love for the games we've already played from them. And it's really hard to sit on the edge like this waiting their next entry into the series.
It's torture lol.
So when you tease one teensie-weensie bit of an announcement, and then go completely dark for almost 4 years, how do they expect us to cope? 😂
I mean YEAH, we know there's other games to play in the meantime, BUT.... we want Bayo... 💔
@liveswired Haha, oh I don't care what they do with it going forward. It's their game, their ideas, and hey, good for them! I have no doubt what-so-ever that it would sell to fans like you who enjoyed the original. However, I will choose to pass because I didn't enjoy it. Now, if it were to be redone in BOTWs engine under that dev team (which is exactly what it SHOULD BE if it ever happens), then yes, I'd be interested cuz I know we'd be getting totally redesigned game.
But yeah, OOT is the one Zelda game I point to whenever I talk about why I started losing interest in the series. I just felt that game was bland from beginning to end. It didn't leave me hungry for another Zelda game, and I was quite aware of that lack of hunger. I even used to try and convince myself that I had actually enjoyed it, even though I didn't, lol.
But you know what? Wind Waker gave me hope. I feel like Wind Waker is what OOT should have been. It was TONS better than TP. I mean yeah, TP sure was pretty to look at and all, but of all the Zelda games using OOTs play model, Wind Waker is easily the best one.
Anyway...
Whenever I come across folks who are dead set on playing OOT for the first time despite my opinions on it, I always refer them to the 3DS version for the improved visuals and slightly better controls.
Well, like I said in the last article concerning Bayonetta 3, my interest for this game has dropped to near ZERO.
Regardless who's publishing it, the fact they they are side-stepping info on it is... not a promising thing. Especially since it's teaser trailer is now approaching 4 years old and the new buzz is: "When will we see a Switch Pro?"
My hunch? We're not getting Bayonetta 3. We're not getting Metroid Prime 4 either. Those two titles will probably get pushed to whatever Nintendo's next hardware release is.
Mmm, I guess this would be cool for some of you....?
But honestly, I have ZERO interest in an Ocarina Of Time port. To me, this is one of the worst Zelda games ever made (it's down there on my list right next to Zelda II: The Adventures Of Link).
An because every Zelda game afterwards was built on the ground work of Ocarina (Link Between Worlds being the only exception), I could not get into any of the games afterwards UNTIL Breath Of The Wild came along and changed the formula completely (thank god).
Breath Of The Wild is what brought me back to Zelda after Ocarina Of Time ruined it for me 22 years ago.
Nintendo ONLINE has no value period, other than online play.
This is a no brainer. Pop open the App and the only two games that support voice chat are Smash and Splatoon. That's it! TWO FRIGGIN' GAMES. And Retro games that you only have access to through cloud? Seriously? You're all okay with that? YOU DON'T EVEN OWN THEM. They go away if you don't keep paying that subscription. It's better to just buy them and own them out right on 3DS or the Wii U.
Open up the Xbox LIVE App and guess what you'll see? You get voice chat with EVERYTHING, as well as a ton of features all related to Xbox in general; Online store so you can shop for Xbox games on the go, a Messaging system, Mobile Voice/Party chat, Activity Feeds, Access to all your console pins, Achievements, Screen and Video Captures, All of your Xbox Clubs, and so forth! Just having the XBL subscription gets me FREE Xbox games. And cloud saves are FREE.
No matter how you guys spin it, Nintendo ONLINE is a massive downgrade in comparison, even at $19 a year.
As far as I'm concerned, the Nintendo ONLINE app is a total waste of storage space on my Phone right now, especially since I haven't been a subscriber since the end of last summer. There's no way I'm coming back either until Nintendo gets it together, which will never happen as long as articles like this exist that try to put it in a good light when it clearly isn't.
You're essentially giving them a pass to sell us terrible services, and they will.
For me, the new Switch SKU/Revision is a must. I play my Switch a lot and it really DOES get hot in that dock. And over time, I've noticed two things since my launch day purchase:
1 - The unit is beginning to show signs of bowing, as well as some slight bulging at the rear of the unit (no cracks yet though).
2 - The fan occasionally makes a loud grinding noise now, usually in handheld mode.
Now, I don't like the idea of having to spend $300 again. But I definitely need a "cooler" CPU in my Switch. So this new SKU is exactly what I need right now.
I'm not surprised one bit that users are opting for shorter plans. The short comings of their subscription service has been laid out by us gamers many times over. And this WILL blow up in their faces if they don't start handling it correctly. Working models are already out there, but Nintendo simply won't listen. They're being stubborn, just like they were in the N64 era (and it cost them too).
Look, it's not exactly a secret that gamers are being put off by Nintendo's very feeble online features. We all know it's BAD. It's communicated everyday how BAD their service is. Anytime Nintendo wants to garner dislikes on their YouTube account, all they gotta do is talk about Nintendo Online and wait.
As far as I'm concerned. Microsoft's Xbox LIVE is the only online subscription that matters. It's the only one that has any value to it. I wish Nintendo would take a long hard look at how Microsoft does it, instead of trying to convince us that they're going sooo above and beyond for us with cloud saves for SOME games, an online catalog of retro games that I do NOT give a damn about, and by giving us permission to play our games online (even though they host no dedicated servers for online play).
You know what? It's worse than a joke. Nintendo Online is actually a SCAM. And I allowed myself to be scammed by not doing the trial first. Shame on me.
Anyway, once my year long subscription finishes, I won't be renewing. Not even for a shorter plan. In fact, I have no plans to return unless I see massive improvements all around.
Left unchecked, this practice will eventually hurt the sales momentum of the Switch. There is literally no reason for it to have such harsh online limitations.
You're ruining everything with your bad handling of Nintendo ONLINE.
Reggie, you guys cannot survive without us. Got that? You NEED to start listening to us and give us something comparable to the competition. Otherwise we're just not going to give you our money.
You can't leave your consumer base feeling scorned about this and expect to survive. Our dollars keep you around.
BUT, some of that slow-down IS contributed to Nintendo ONLINE being poorly handled, whether anyone wants to admit it or not.
I know people who were dead set on buying a Switch this past month but quickly backed out once Nintendo ONLINE was launched and those folks saw how featureless it was in comparison to PSN and XBL, even at only $19 a year.
So Nintendo, if you're reading any of this, you NEED to fix it. You need to give us the "Robust Online Service" that you promised us. You can't just sit on your hands about it. It's too big of an issue to ignore. Online play is a HUGE part of gaming along with accompanying features like dedicated servers, voice/party chat throughout the whole console system (not just in-game), leader boards, achievements, player activity feeds and competent mobile apps. This is all standard stuff now. Why aren't you guys following this model??
Please Nintendo START LISTENING. Do more than just simply slapping some NES classics into the package while leaving everything else virtually the same prior to ONLINE's launch. Gamers everywhere know that overall, your service is bad! Hell, even YOU know it's bad via YouTube feedback. All of the issues we have with Nintendo ONLINE have been covered to death there, so I'm pretty sure you guys know what all the problems are. Fix them so that you guys don't chase away anymore potential sales over it.
Reggie, no matter where you look on the internet, the response is overwhelmingly the same: You're full of absolute NON-SENSE.
You won't listen to us, you won't admit that this is being handled wrong, and you're flat out LYING when you try to imply that this is actually what we want. It's NOT.
You guys are on the verge of driving a great console into an early remission. What is it going to take to get your heads out of your holes?
I've had the App since it first launched. Aaaaaand, I barely use it. I use it occasionally to check the SplatNet Shop and look at my stats, but that's it.
Splatoon 2 is probably the game I play most on my Switch. Every now and then something new comes along and distracts for a little while, but I always come back to this game and dump a ton of hours into it.

Re: Metroid Prime 4 Developer Retro Studios Is Hiring New Talent
It's not coming.
At least not to Switch.
Which is fine with me, I'm not really a fan of the first-person Metroid games anyway. I'm happier with the 2D games.
Re: Talking Point: From The Sublime To The Ridiculous - Is Anybody Excited For Everybody 1-2-Switch!?
@Anti-Matter
Great! Good for you! That is totally fine!
No one is underestimating the importance of casual games. In fact, I don't know HOW you could've gotten that notion from my post.
If you need clarification: There are definitely far more issues that carry much greater weight than this game in which Nintendo repeatedly shuts down.
That was my point.
Re: Talking Point: From The Sublime To The Ridiculous - Is Anybody Excited For Everybody 1-2-Switch!?
Absolutely NOT.
Nobody asked for this. NOBODY.

Love my ACNH Edition, BUT...
My Splatoon 3 OLED is by far my favorite! Out of the dock, it's simply GOREOUS!

@Westlondonmist Yep, this is true! Specifically for Power Drive Rally, Primal Rage, AVP, Wolfenstein and Doom. And I wish they could have obtained them because they're games that I felt showcased the system best.
Re: Atari Anniversary Collection Full List Of Games Possibly Revealed In Retailer Leak
Yikes!

Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of Mario's Movie Voice?
@Andy_Witmyer Yes, I was actually referring to the games when I said that. I'm so damn old that I naturally assume that no one has watched any of the cartoons or seen the original movie. Also, most of the backlash I'm seeing here is comparing Chris Pratt to what they hear in the games, sooo...

Lots of love out there for Skyward Sword! Kudos Nintendo!
However, I hated this game with a passion and only own it because of the Special Edition Wii Mote that I simply HAD to have! 😃
But yeah, announcing SSHD during their Direct didn't curb my disappointment for the absence of a proper BOTW 2 update.
But they did announce Splatoon 3, which IMO, saved the entire Direct! 💜💚💛

Re: Microsoft Eager To Expand Xbox Live Cross-Platform Gaming On Switch
I am absolutely in love with this idea!
I say YES!

I would LOVE to have this! Do it!! 😃😃😃

But I love Splatoon more!

Re: Reggie: Don't Expect Nintendo Switch Online To "Mirror" The Competition
You're ruining everything with your bad handling of Nintendo ONLINE.
Reggie, you guys cannot survive without us. Got that? You NEED to start listening to us and give us something comparable to the competition. Otherwise we're just not going to give you our money.
You can't leave your consumer base feeling scorned about this and expect to survive. Our dollars keep you around.

Re: The Dream's Over Folks, Nintendo Confirms There Are "No Plans" For Zelda: Skyward Sword On Switch
Didn't want it. I would rather have more BOTW to be honest. Best Zelda ever!
Re: Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa On Missing Analyst Estimates: “The Holiday Season Battle Begins Now”
More software? Yes! Always!
Re: Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aimé On Why The Switch Uses A Mobile App For Voice Chat
Seriously, what is it going to take!!?
Re: Nintendo Switch Online Companion App Reaches Five Million Downloads
I've had the App since it first launched. Aaaaaand, I barely use it. I use it occasionally to check the SplatNet Shop and look at my stats, but that's it.
I absolutely don't use it for Voice Chat at all.
Re: Latest Splatoon 2 Update Fixes Troublesome Issues Tied To Bubble Blower
Splatoon 2 is probably the game I play most on my Switch. Every now and then something new comes along and distracts for a little while, but I always come back to this game and dump a ton of hours into it.
I love it to pieces!
But they REALLY need to tweak the Explosher.
Re: Deals: Amazon Prime Day Is Happening Now In The US, More Nintendo Switch Bargains On The Way?
I pulled the trigger and bought that 400GB Micro SD Card. I simply couldn't refuse it at that price. Even with tax, I still saved about $100.
