@eltomo "...I don't know what the other does, but he's rich."
My wife's uncle bought acres of property around his home back when it was cheap and has leased it out to farmers for decades. He is so rich that his kids don't have to work a day in their life if they don't want to (although to their credit, they all have an excellent work ethic).
@nessisonett Ah, I think you meant "portrayal" rather than "performance", because having played a bit of the game on PC, I can't say I'm much impressed by the performance of the voice actor. As far as the portrayal of the character is concerned, I haven't gotten far enough into the game to assess that.
Nintendo isn't for sale. Unlike Activision Blizzard, they're a strong, successful, and profitable company without any scandals driving their stock prices down and making them ripe for a buyout.
I was looking at the screenshot at the top of article and trying to figure out how somebody was able to make that in Animal Crossing before I realized it was from Breath of the Wild.
Nintendo has to at least make a good faith effort to stop this sort of thing or it could make it difficult to protect their IP in the future. But it also shows Nintendo there is a demand for ready access to their classic games library, so if they really wanted to stop the pirates, they would work to make their old games readily available at a fair price.
@Purgatorium "There is no such thing as unskilled labour. You think they don't train their employees? You think you could get an edible pizza if labour wasn't skilled?"
Anything you can learn to do with a couple of hours of on-the-job training does not qualify as skilled labor. Look at it this way: the more easily you can be replaced by the next random guy who walks in off the street, the less skilled the labor.
@TheBeardiest "Crazy idea here, but instead of contests and prizes, they could try paying people an actual living wage?"
Crazy idea here, but instead of trying to make a career out of entry level jobs that require little in the way of skill, experience, or education, people could use them as a stepping stone to earn their way into better paying jobs. Seriously, people should stop expecting to be paid top dollar to do menial work that is so simple even a trained monkey could do it. You want better pay? Then prove to an employer that you're worth it.
Two years ago: "Let's fear monger about a virus with a better than 99% survival rate and convince people that they should avoid human contact like it's the zombie apocalypse and give them generous unemployment benefits so that they lose any incentive to find work. What could go wrong?"
Two year later: Employers become increasingly desperate to find employees.
People wondering why there aren't more football games on the Switch, it's because EA has an exclusive license with with the NFL, so they're the only publisher who can use real teams and players. Other publishers have to make up their own teams, which is less appealing to football fans.
If he really wanted to preserve games, he'd call for making them freely available after a period of time. Only reason he cares about emulation is because he sees it as a potential revenue stream.
@MajorasLapdog It's not too late to start. Just watch Episodes 1 through 6 (don't bother with 7 through 9; they're terrible), and you will know everything you need in order to fully appreciate Knights of the Old Republic.
@KateGray I'm not sure why you think retreating to a pergola is somehow easier for the uncoordinated than the foolproof method of catching wasps that has been been described by others (equip net, stand in front of tree, shake tree, swing net; you don't even need to move your character). Seems to me that racing across your island while avoiding obstacles and then entering the narrow doorway of a pergola, all with zero room for error, would pose a considerably greater challenge for those lacking fine motor skills.
"It’s so fun to see players out there really enjoying what we’ve put together for them. I’m honestly enjoying this unparalleled level of scrutiny on our studio. Today we are celebrating our monumental project launch, while we work on updates."
The guy sounds like he's living in an alternate universe given that this is easily the most derided release since Cyberpunk 2077.
@creativeusernamehere I still have an original PC version of the game along with the full color spiral bound manual, so I could easily install and play the original if I really wanted, but I'm not finding anything objectionable about the Switch release that compels me to do so..
It's not creepy, but the Nook Bros. had an awesome spaceship console for sale today. 190,000 bells. A bit steep, but since I'm a multimillionaire, I bought it.
But catching wasps is ridiculously easy: equip the net; stand in front of a tree and shake it; if a wasp nest falls, your character will automatically turn towards it and do the "Oh, crap!" reaction; press A to swing the net and catch the wasp; sell it for mucho bells.
@Onion When I say that it doesn't affect gameplay, I simply mean that it doesn't obscure critical information (or any information at all for that matter) or otherwise hinder one's ability to play, which is objectively true. Whether or not one considers it too unsightly to simply ignore is another matter.

Re: Nintendo Switch System Update 13.2.1 Is Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
@Dethmunk "What's the point in an article like this?"
If they didn't post an article about the new patch then people would say, "Where's the article about the new patch?"
Re: Switch eShop Confirms Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments For February
@nessisonett "Probably the best Sherlock performance I’ve seen in all of TV, film and games."
Really? Even better than Jeremy Brett's definitive portrayal? I find that hard to believe.
Re: Nintendo Switch System Update 13.2.1 Is Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
Could we at least get a grey theme?

So the Switch Pro is going to cost over $1000. Got it.

Re: That Large Combat Text Box In Star Wars: KOTOR On Switch Is "Intended"
@creativeusernamehere Fewer intro animations is a feature, not a bug.
But, yes, audio cues for some things would be nice, or at least a text message telling you that your character failed to pick a lock, for example.
But regardless, I'm having a lot of fun replaying it and finding it just as enjoyable as when I first played it 20 years ago.
