Without knowing the power of the emulator, I have no friggin clue because most of the games I'm interested in were made in the 90s, like Super Street Fighter II Turbo (thus ending the debate of which one is best, but probably best if it never comes) or the X men. Still, there are a lot of good choices here and there...
Well, at least it makes sense. The RIAA, or at least litigation for profit in general, is a bit of a bitch. And even if they managed 300,000, there would still be some money in the-
Wait, how much did it cost to be rated if it was a "mistake?"
So I guess Nintendo finally got the rights? Still wonder what took them so long >_>.
And I remember the days when we were whining about the cornucopia of shooters on the system every other week. Huh. "Cornucopia" of "releases". That would be wonderful.
At least in the past we could depend on two wiiware games. Let's hope the C64 pushes them to release more.
Those are some really interesting picks- I mean that in a good way. The uber-NES Castlevania, a GnG, and a game so scary that the trophy related to it in Melee was removed in the US!
JESUS CHRIST NINTENDO THOUGHT THEY COULD RELEASE THAT HERE!
Well, I guess Nintendo no longer has an excuse for Mother 3 <_>. I've heard it's good, but I have a social life and I keep my door open. I want to look my neighbors in the face you know.
Jeeze, we just got Ys. Thank god I already have SMRPG!
Then again, beat it like, five times. It's a really good game! Even if it isn't the most Marioy thing ever. Reccomended!
Looks like we're following the 2007 pattern: sucky first half, good-to-awesome second half of the year! Actually, Q1 2007 wasn't that bad. Maybe it's punishment for ESRB? Ah well, NOA gave us one of the trio of "I'M A BRAINDEAD NINTENDO FAN SO OTHER GAMES SUCK!" RPGs: SMRPG, EarthBound, and Chrono Trigger.
Okay, everyone here make a pact: do not buy wii points until the game you want comes up. Do not pay for Wii points until the game you want comes up. EB announced? Pay when it comes. Majora? Same. We are not going to fool around with this. Agreed?
...Huh. I guess Nintendo of America is clamping down on anyone who gives advance notice.
Granted, this tactic will destroy the VC so that when SS2 and Ys are finally released in 2011 no one will care, but I don't think I can understand them anymore. SNK, Capcom, and Hudson must be really annoyed. All the games were ANNOUNCED by them, not rumored by some freak at NeoGAF; what kind of game is Nintendo playing?
When was the last time we got three games in one week? Let alone three games that we all knew about beforehand?
I guess now that we're caught up with Europe, we can finally return to normal! Hopefully this means that the 2nd half of 2008 will be way better than the first...
Yeah, I still want this game. I have trouble respecting Destructoid at times, and I'll judge for myself on Monday. I didn't know about Steam! This should be interesting...
I don't care much for Ys, but the music to Legend of Xanadu II- made by the same people- is amazing; I might have to pick it up...just not now, I have quite a few to play through.
Good show EB people! Let's show some love to other RPG series!
For "Why I've never heard of this before," read: It was released on the #3 console in NA and Europe. When they announced Bonk on the VC I thought "Who?"
Actually, it took them a long time to get SMB3. The release schedules are very strange when compared. We were last in getting RCR by several months for instance, and Europe had MM as an exclusive for a long time.
Is no one worried that Japan seems to be going from 4 games a week to two or three now?
@ WarioFan63: I wouldn't call this impatience of the masses, I'd call this sheer incompetence. Yes, we got River City Ransom eventually, but one game weeks were almost unheard of too you know. Now it's almost expected...
Dear god. I can't believe there's practically two sides to this.
First: Too few games coming out. Have you guys seen the ESRB list? There's quite a few that should still be coming out, such as Shining Force 2 (which will be released next month in Japan) and Earthbound. Not that I think a no-earthbound week is crap like all the EB/some Ninty fanboys, but the fact that it's much larger than America's average vc week is incomprehensible. NOE understands this; that's why they finally closed the gap and, I expect, will surpass it next week. Unless we're just getting tied together and that's why America has slowed down while Europe sped up (Japan still has more games and some better, but there's still catch up; they got Mario 3 way later than either of us did)
My problem is the LACK of good games. Screw "More nintendo games!" Earthbound is not the only game to ever exist! The problem is that many others are available elsewhere. If you have a PS2, then Fatal Fury 2 is on at least one collection- which will probably come to the Wii at this rate. More importantly, you can actually get it and many other Neo Geo games on your computer through GameTap for $10 a month or $60 a year, both of which much cheaper than VC.
So what I want is stuff that hasn't been released elsewhere. Castlevania Rondo of Blood was on PSP, but the portable is not nearly as common as computers or PS2s; according to the purists the port has problems anyway. We already have at least three versions of Mario 3, a GBA release of Yoshi's Island, and at least one GC disc with Majora's Mask on it. But where's Kiko 7, a weird Neo Geo game that is considered excellent? What happened to Crystalis, a good Zelda clone on the NES (I might be wrong about zelda)? Why no love for the Wily Wars, a Genesis game that was on Sega Channel? Parodius, a J/Euro series that actually brings something to the shooter genre? And, yes, Earthbound- why isn't that out by now, let alone Mother (they can finally make money on that!) or, yes, Super Bomber Man 5, perhas the best Bomber Man, and one that is J only?
What's with you Nintendo? And some of your fans for that matter?
Wait, wait WAIT. Only ONE VC game and ONE WiiWare game this week? Dear lord! At least we were getting 3-4 total before but this is insane!
At this rate, Europe will get 10-15 VC and 4-6 WiiWare games a month. Jesus Christ! We won't even be close! Nintendo of America, what the heck are you doing?!?
Sure those two games are good, but we used to get more games, especially more GOOD games! What's going on at NOA?
Kevin? There's been more than 1 game in the series. Haven't played any of them, but I have this sneaking suspicion that you might want to check first.
Burning Fight is good because I'm pretty sure that was revealed on the ESRB list a long time ago. They're finally checking the ERSB list! And the last few weeks have been decent at least!
It's better than when we got no good games at ALL...
Sad thing is, by alternating 5 VC and 2 WiiWare, you guys will still getting way more VC on a regular basis than us and our 2-1 and 1-2 VC to WiiWare weeks. And you have Smash next week at last!
I loved this game when I was ten. I still liked it a lot when I replayed it somewhat recently. Trust me, this is a great game! At the rate you guys are going, you guys should get this- with Earthbound- before 2009, and USA sometime before Summer 09. I hope that was an exaggeration.
Hey, if you have a US month, can we have a EU month? It would be great to get games like Parodius, Twinbee, Terranigma...
Oh, and Convoy=Optimus Prime. Dear lord the Japanese are getting some good/interesting/wth games! Once again the Japanese show the USA what good games look like while Bizarro world gives the USA what Europe usually got.
At this rate Europe will get Chrono Trigger before we do. Brawl or no Brawl, Europe's getting a lot out of this...
Huh, so Sky Kid wasn't that good. It's nice to see someone wanted to note its quality; too bad it isn't that good then.
I'd like Wiiware, but my fridge is bursting at the moment. Maybe later...
Hey EBers, EB may be great but it's not the only game! Stop whin-this is part of the siege, isn't it? You know the chances of Nintendo reading this is zero to nil, right?
...The heck? We have like 7 consoles supported now and they can only find one game- the inferior version of an arcade port that is STILL inferior to last week's Beat-em-up that at least had a #2?
Not much into Earthbound? I understand. If you're not into being a power trip with somewhat lesser grinding or the quirky atmosphere I see what you mean. Re: Nintendo Download: 21 April 2009 (Japan)
Normally I'd be annoyed, but this seems to be a catch-up week for them; 4 out of their 6 games we've had for months now.
Given the unfairness of it all, it's weird when it's the Japanese who play catch-up...

Of course not!

But Cadash? That sounds random.

YES!
I have, like, 2-4 gigs, and the Wii is about half a gig, right? This will be able to store so much! WOO HOO!
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - October 2008
looks like we're playing catch-up next month- though a lot of the games on the JVC we'll never get, so we'll see what happens...

Wait, you guys just got Ys? Guess that's what you get for getting PM and SMRPG first...
I kid! You guys never got SMRPG in the first place! Nice to see you got it!
So, for #250: Earthbound just for giggles?

They really should have released it weeks ago...ah well!
Re: Hanabi Festival 3 Kicks Off
So this time is "Catch up with USA and shock the bejeezus out of our atlantic brothers with a game we never even got!". That's a good idea!
But why is Spelunker there? Quality reassurance of old NES games or something?
Re: EU VC Releases: Super Mario RPG and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels
Jesus Christ that's awesome! Congrats! Now watch America whine and moan like we did with River City Ransom and Paper Mario!
Though to be frank, this game NEVER came out in Europe before, so I guess we got our just desserts, huh?

Earthbounder? Uh, you know other games exist, games that didn't even get sequels? I want EB too, but, well, you know.

Nice job Europe! You're getting about twice to four times as many games as America did! Nice to see that NoE recognizes Europe's existence!
...Now where's our Cho Aniki?!?
Re: ESRB Update: EarthBound Finally Coming To Virtual Console!
toffeeman30: Think of this like an Okami: Great game that sold horribly. I managed to borrow it for a few months- and trust me: it's a great game!

Hey Europe! Nintendo is saying sorry for Smash!
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - May 2008
I got Goemon 4, but...
If they bring 2 here, it BETTER be translated. It's basically a Zelda game, which means great action and lots of dialogue. TRANSLATE IT!
Front Mission looks good. I hope Star Parodier leads to the release of the Parodius games!
Re: Top 10 RPGs We Want To Come To The Virtual Console

Re: Another OFLC Update - Turbografx Imports Galore!
I heard that most of the great games on the PC-Engine- like Dracula X- were never brought over here. Look like that's true, especially with some fun shooters.
I'm just shocked that Cho Aniki is leaving Japan. I thought that had no international appeal AT ALL. Wow, just wow.

Go Wii Bomberman!
