Japan's last update of July (Next Tuesday) is:
- Rockman (Mega Man, FC)
- Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition (MD)
- Blood Gear (PCE)
- Eggy (MSX)
The full list for August is as follows:
Famicom:
- Twinbee
- Nazo no Murasamejou (This is a mostly forgotten Nintendo game that plays a bit like The Legend of Zelda. We think it is a likely import sometime!)
- Rockman 2 (Mega Man 2)
Super Famicom:
- Gakkou de atta Kowai Hanashi (This is a horror game that takes place in a Japanese highschool. It uses actual photos as pictures in the game.)
Nintendo 64:
- What a surprise, nothing again!
Sega Master System:
Sega Mega Drive:
- Lord Monarch (A medieval strategy game)
PC Engine:
- Eikan ha Kimini: Koukou Yakyuu Zenkoku Taikai (CD, this is just another baseball game)
- Chase H.Q.
- Dragon Saber (The sequel to Dragon Spirit, but it wasn't released outside Japan)
- Parasol Stars
Neo Geo:
- Nothing as well!
MSX:
- Same here!

Yay Parasol Stars, maybe there is some hope for Rainbow Islands now too!
Been waiting for Parasol Stars to be announced for ages. Never expected the Mega Drive version SFII to arrive.
About Gakkou de atta Kowai Hanashi (That horror game that takes place in a Japanese highschool, which uses actual photos as pictures in the game.) Does it use pictures on the Wii too (I think you won't know yet ) and how did it use them back in the days?
Or did you mean it uses real pictures a sBackgrounds and such as in the Resident Evil Games?
SF2 for the Genesis. That was my first street fighter game. Please bring it to America Capcom! This would be a pleasant surprise if it did come to the US
@ Bensei: Nonono, I mean that all the images in the game are photos which the developers took, you can't insert your own
Nazo no Murasamejou doesn't play anything like Zelda, guys. It's an overhead run-and-gun where you need to navigate a maze.
And yes, it's a really good game, hoping for an import here.
YES!!!!!!! PARASOL STARS!!!!! FINALLLLY!!!!
Chase H.Q & Twinbee too, nice
Also, who didn't see the MD SFII coming?
@ Adamant: I've played it, and I honestly think it plays a bit like Zelda (The original).
Been waiting for Parasol Stars for a long time. Immediate download as soon as we get it.
Yes!! I've always wanted to play Parasol Stars!
I can't believe I'm actually tempted to get the MD Street Fighter even though I have the SNES version on VC << >>
@Drake: I've played it too, and the only similarity to Zelda I could find was the overhead view :
Well, they finally get Twinbee. Took them long-
Wait, ten games total? Did they just switch places with America for some reason?
Those Japanese are so lucky. Heh
I'm hoping for Parasol Stars to be released outside of Japan. I loved Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands so playing this will feel like I completed the Bub and Bob saga. Crossing my fingers for this one!
Hey, isnt that the Takamaru game?
Given that Twinbee on the NES is showing up there, it's only a matter of time before any of the games show up in the west. Corbie's advice (was it Corbie?) from the Shmup thread meant that I've been taking interest in the series for sure.
Even so, there needs to be more N64 games out there - the library's so damn petite as of now
I'm pleased by the SFII release, as I reckon it's the best of the pre-Super editions.
Yeah, not so much like Zelda. Great music though. This is a pretty decent little month for Japan. I expect we'll get at least one Mega Man game in addition to Ys in August, so it should be a treat for us as well.
Less than Japan has been getting but still more per month than the rest of us seem to get anymore. Nintendo, WE LIKE THE VIRTUAL CONSOLE TOO!! Please give us a nice hunk of love next month as well. After the hunk of CRAP you gave us at E3 this year, you kind of owe us anyway.
Still no N64 titles? The next one better have zero emulation problems, otherwise Nintendo is just slacking off.
We ever gonna get N64 titles?
I hope we get Twinbee eventually, and Parasol Stars. That game looks like a blast!
Edit: I wonder if we'll ever get Mazo no Masamejou or whatever as an import. Sounds interesting, and the game had an awesome track that I heard in Brawl.
What a really slow month.
So that makes 4 versions of SF2 on the VC then. Guess I ll have to wait even longer for SNES Street Fighter Alpha 2... T.T
Why are MSX games so hard to be released? I lost my hope on seeing them here!
I'm guessing it's taking Nintendo so long to get the next N64 game up because they're working hard on getting Majora's Mask to run as flawlessly as possible. The version on the Zelda collection, while adequite enough, is unstable and prone to freezing up, but with the Virtual Console version comes much higher standards as it's not a promotional release.
Think we wont see N64 games that REQUIRED accesory, like the Expansion Pak
That sucks no N64 games that shows that the N64 line-up in the future will be slim and thats one of the reasons I was looking forward to the VC.
@ChocoDK
Me too, unfortunately, games like OoT take up alot so i just deleted it, i'm not really a big fan of Zelda games.
I'm really looking forward to a Pokemon Stadium release on VC, god memories:)
Glad we finally got us a Megaman, do we get both 1 and 2 or just 1?
I said it in the July Month thread and Ill say it again. No listings for N64 in Japan is not going to always be true for everyone else.
@ WarioFan63-
And did we get any N64 games in July?
Yeah, that's what I thought.
Don't expect any this month either.
But who doesn't love WarioFan's optimistic attitude?
Yeah, but Japan didn't get a N64 game when we got Pokemon Puzzel League.
Hmm, well I hope you're right WarioFan63. The Nintendo 64 was my favorite console and it's saddening me that it hasn't been getting too many games lately. I hope the next N64 game isn't Majora's Mask though. It's my favorite Zelda game, but I've already played the heck out of it on the N64 and Gamecube, so I'm not really wanting it a third time especially when I can still play it now.
Why did my ancestors move to America?
@ SuperMario.
What JPN gets bears no resemblence on us at all, because since when have we had a week that's mimicked a Japanese one?
They're only just getting Mega Man for crying out loud, we've had that for ages. We've had a VERY popular game a LONG time before they got it. Rockman II is huge over there.
I didn't say that what Japan gets bears a resemblance on what we get...
Japan didn't get any N64 games in July.
We didn't get any N64 games in July.
That's what I'm saying.
So if Japan isn't getting any this month, why give people false hope?
Let them sulk, and if we get lucky, then they'll be that more surprised.
Rather than giving people hope, only to be deeply depressed when we've gone another N64-less month.
Besides, if what Japan got didn't matter, then VC-R wouldn't tell us what Japan is getting.
Now would they?
They post because people wanted to know. Back when this place just started I was so sick of seeing requests for the Japanese launches being covered.
Japan got SMRPG, did any of us?
Japan got Gyoung months ago, did we?
Once again, don't expect a N64 game in August.
People can provide hope, but that only leads to disappointment.
Then you have people saying, "but.. but.. but.. Demon212 said it was possible!!111".
Now if everyone is expecting disappointment, then anything else is a surprise.
And then you have people saying, "OMGZZ that Demon212 guy knew this was gonna happen".
Wouldn't that be cool?
You'd be like the hero on VC-R.
We'll have to find you a cape...
Actually, it took them a long time to get SMB3. The release schedules are very strange when compared. We were last in getting RCR by several months for instance, and Europe had MM as an exclusive for a long time.
Is no one worried that Japan seems to be going from 4 games a week to two or three now?
^ Yes I do ... (even worst vc times coming?!)
@ SuperMario.
Actually that was on my old site when on July 6th I predicted the 7/7 bombings.
But w/e.
At the moment though, you're just worsening the stereo-type that Americans don't get (And therefore cannot do) dry wit.
As far as the VC goes, it's a totally RANDOM procedure, so don't try figuring it out by using other releases as a guide, because it's a pointless waste of time. Much like your SMRPG complaining.
May I direct you to this article
That's where I explain, I couldn't care about SMRPG, and the VC isn't a random procedure.
Much like your SMRPG complaining.
I don't remember saying I want SMRPG.
Can you provide a link?
Ohs noes, you can't.
As far as the VC goes, it's a totally RANDOM procedure
Oh Jesus Christ.
Why do people think this?
Like I said to someone else, you make Nintendo out to be a room filled with monkeys, who place old games on a board, and throw darts to see which ones they'll release.
They're smarter than you think they are. You honestly don't think a multi-billion dollar publisher has a plan for everything?
At the moment though, you're just worsening the stereo-type that Americans don't get (And therefore cannot do) dry wit.
I didn't even realize that was a stereotype.
But I guess people will criticize people with anything nowadays, ehh?
Because it's a pointless waste of time. Much like your SMRPG complaining.
I didn't realize I was complaining about SMRPG. Hmm, must be the language barrier.
Anyway, I'd say complaining about people complaining on a site about video games is a lot more pointless than complaining about video games on a a site about video games. Now wouldn't you think? Yes, it's a double-edged sword, my friend.
Thanks to whoever linked that article.
rubbish, i think they are now saving all the best games until they think the wii is starting to come to the end of it's life span to rejuvenate it in it's last throws. Nintendo run their company like an RPG
@ SM.
Not really. My complaining has an effect. It's causing a reaction that could one day lead to you not complaining.
You whinging about VC releases won't change them. Ninty will change them when they want to.
And you're being far to literal with words. By random I mean we could get Bomberman '94 & Elevator action the same week you guys get Fatal Fury Special & Cybernoid. While Japan gets Mega Man III and Metal Gear.
Of course Ninty know which games they're going to release, because they have to make them ready. But we don't know what is or isn't ready. And we don't know what we're going to get.
I fail to see you announcing every weeks releases before they actually happen.
As for the stereotype, it applies to sarcasm and dry wit. But I'm not exactly amazed that it's not something that's common knowledge over there.
And as sad as I am to say it, it's rare when I see/meet an American who gets sarcasm and dry wit.
On live chat services I've often got a few Brits laughing while the Americans are dumb founded and we're left explaining it to them.
But every country has a different sense of humor.
9/11, 7/7, the Boxing day Tsunami, Hurricane Kat you lot wept, us & the Aussies made up sick jokes. Like the new house of the rising sun.
There was a house in New Orleans, that's now in Tennesee (SP?) etc...
Anyway, back on the SMRPG topic.
Can't link as I'm on the Wii. But the Y's post above this. Think it's post 26.
Where you say how Ninty screwed us all, by not releasing SMRPG. Now I know there's the language barrier that you're always so quick to blame, but to me, that seems like a complaint.
Capcom still has PCE SFII Champion Edition, Genesis SSFII, SMS SFII (released in Brazil, that was an authorized version, wasn't it?).
But I'm hoping we'll see SMRPG soon. I mean, we haven't seen an SNES update since March! (and I think that's how long TG16 went here with no update)
Though I'd rather see Pop'n Twinbee over the original. They added a life meter, so at least you're not pretty much dead the first hit you take. (and the original Twinbee finally got an official release here in a DS compilation last year (I think it was).)
The platformer Rainbow Bell Adventure would also be sweet.
And you're being far to literal with words.
This contradicts this:
Where you say how Ninty screwed us all, by not releasing SMRPG.
I already explained I didn't literally mean Nintendo screwed everybody.
Read other posts.
Not really. My complaining has an effect. It's causing a reaction that could one day lead to you not complaining.
Don't count on it. I'll always have an opinion, sorry.
I fail to see you announcing every weeks releases before they actually happen.
When did I say I could?
I said Nintendo knows what VC releases they'll be handing out way ahead of time. I'm not sure how you misinterpreted that.
There was a house in New Orleans, that's now in Tennesee (SP?) etc...
It's hard to laugh when you had family near New Orleans. But I can see how that wouldn't be a problem for you.
Don't have time to read the lot, especially when the topic is as boring. Actually stopped at yours until after I'd made the above post.
Yes, but opinions can change.
I'm lost, that reply doesn't work for that sentence.
Apologies.
Well, I see there's more good games being released in The Land of the Rising Fun, and I can't wait until some of those get here! Too bad you can't just change your store to the Japanese one, but I'll live.
is it possible for the U.S. to get the old Fire Emblem games??
No because they would not be translated and are unplayable to someone who does not understand Japanese.
I imagine it's possible for the DS remake of FE3 (Mystery of the Emblem, which was a remake of the original)
that's really a shame, i know they're text heavy games but they're so much fun, and I've only played them illegally online
well other than fire emblem(s) for GBA, and the stupid looking GC one. How I despise the 3-D battle sequences...so not cool
Now that Japan has Street Fighter II Special Champion Edition, I guess we can say that they'll release Super Street Fighter II on the Genesis as well?
I don't mind them releasing Special Champion Edition because personally I think it's much better than the SNES version, I was also curious as to wether they will release it at all considering they already put out all the SNES versions.
I have the dragon saber arcade board and the pce hu-card,awesome shmup,if it ever comes to the us i say try it.
