@SLIGEACH_EIRE the Japanese are also big supporters of their native systems, even if they're deemed failures. They were also supportive of the vita, and it did modestly there (as opposed to being a niche system here. A niche system I love, but niche nonetheless). And they've never taken to any of the xbox systems there.

I've said it elsewhere on this site but I wanted to reiterate that if anyone lives remotely near New York City, their Nintendo world store at Rockefeller center gets stock every single morning.

This is pedantic, but one of my favorite things about Nintendo systems in the new millennium has been menu music, and I haven't gotten any of that yet.

Also; the friend code update gives me hope that they'll transfer Wii U or 3ds virtual console data as well, even if it's the pay a dollar for the license fee.

@chriiiiiiiiiis same. The part of me that wanted to shake my head and tell them to calm down smiled. Some folks have just been waiting a long time for this.

Although my favorite part is the Mario mascot gesturing in a silly way.

And yeah to Echo some other folks, I couldn't care less about no mention of classic/VC or eshop upgrades in the face of new things. Look forward, and there's lots to look forward to (and outside of Nintendo, I'm a little psyched for wolfenstein and that pirate game Ubisoft is making).

An opportunity was missed to use walk the dinosaur in the trailer intro.

I guess they don't look down on that series after all.

Some of the most fun I've ever had in gaming was creating idiotic characters in smackdown games and playing against my friends. I'd pick it up again if it came out on switch.

@Jeronan plus they confirmed all of the DLC is included.

@Bustacap I couldn't stand the journey mode in FIFA 17. I thought it was inferior to the regular career mode/be a pro mode, so I'm not sad that's missing.

@GrailUK I believe the deluxe version has Brazilian Ronaldo on the cover as opposed to Cristiano.

Career mode was literally all I cared about. Pre ordered.

1. Nintendo seems to have pretty liberal windows for review embargos.

2. That tag line of "mostly armless" painted a picture of a negative review.

Never thought I'd see the day they'd falter over there. They died a slow painful death here, and even here in New York, there's only one arcade that continues to get brand new games. A few others a retro arcade bars, and then dave and busters. Long cry from the early 2000s when they were all over the place around here.

One of my favorite things about the game is something I also loved in skyrim and the witcher: the mundanity of traveling to a place with a good view.

Reminds me I oight to get around to beating the witcher 3.

Probably would've been smarter to do just before release. I can't imagine it'll jump much farther from what it is at now (roughly $40 a share up from around 30).

@thesilverbrick same. The luster of playing yellow again died when I was reminded at how slow, overly simplistic, and barren the older games are compared to something like alpha sapphire. Gold is still on every of my favorite games of all time, but I couldn't justify slogging through it again. Maybe if it was the remake, but even those games feel dated compared to the 3ds entries.

The switch's impending release, the generally better (or less insulting) customer service, the far better rewards program, and insert fourth criteria are what finally made me stop going to gamestop and exclusively buy from
Bestbuy. Doesn't help that GameStop was prettt insulting with the switch bundles.

I haven't even gone through half of these songs yet, this game has a staggering amount of content (even if the songs feel samey). Good deal.

@olrodlegacy honestly, their poor treatment of nintendon is the least of their issues. They have a history of generally bad business decisions and poor treatment of the studios under their watch.

Seems like an easy cop out for not having to bother developing for the switch. "Let's put out an ancient game at an insulting price and claim we won't develop any further because it didn't sell."

@yasin88 it's coming out Friday. Also, really? I'm in NYC and they digital games usually go up around noon the day of release.

@uhhhhhhhh everything has to be taken into consideration, particularly if it's something unavoidable like its age in conjunction with its price. Part of the reason Order 1886 was reemed (other than being generic and having a poorly fleshed out story) was that it was a short game sold at full price with a brazen lack of effort. Why should special privilege be given when the release was an after thought?

I remember reading somewhere that if you rated a game on its own merits, then every sequel of a game that got a 10 that doesn't expand on it should automatically receive the same score since it's the same score. Standards increase as time goes on, and every future game should be held to a higher standard.

@CrazedCavalier I've heard this said about the game, but first impressions, at least for me, counted for a lot, and much like No Man's Sky after it, I won't give the game another chance after being so utterly dull at launch.

@Nik-Davies I'm with you. Destiny was the impetus for me never buying retail games digitally, as I hated it and was stuck with it forever (then again, I find most shoot and loot games to be incredibly boring). If they're going to take the stance that they're too good or complex for the switch, fine, my simple self will continue to play fun indie games, fun nintendo games, and Fifa/NBA on the go on the switch, and I'll continue to ignore the game on my PS4 (which has pretty much become my Persona 5/Crypt of the Necrodancer machine).

I'd respect devs like this a lot more if they were honest and said "look we can't be asked to port the game over, it requires more effort than we feel like putting in. Hae you seen the game? It's generic as hell with a pretty skybox, does that scream effort?"

I feel your average gamer or consumer will just see a higher price tag and not care about the minor differences, and most folk who care about specs probably already have a powerful gaming computer.

For me, very few of the PS4 games I love will be affected by the pro (I play bloodborne, nuclear throne, and crypt of the necrodancer religiously, two indies that won't matter and an older game that won't be affected by the upscale).

The New York show is a few blocks away from my apartment, I'm so in.

I'll support it because skyrim is one of my all time favorite games.

Also, not that I need to since I played them on PS4 (and in the case of the latter, I don't care for it), hope it means they'll port over doom and fallout 4 for the Nintendo folks who missed out last generation. For that matter, anything that comes out on either might be a switch purchase just to keep other publishers invested in the system.
