Re: Book Review: The Legend Of Zelda: Hyrule Historia

Knux

This book looks beyond awesome. I might just have to buy a copy.

Also, the article made the huge mistake of calling the original Zelda a game ''which started out as a very basic action RPG''. The only Zelda game that can be considered even remotely an action RPG is Zelda II. All other Zelda games (including the original), are considered action-adventure games with hardly any RPG elements.

Just wanted to point that out.

Re: Disney Confirms That Junction Point Has Been Closed

Knux

Considering how many mixed things I have heard about the Epic Mickey games (I currently only own the first one and haven't played it yet, but plan to buy the other two down the road), this really doesn't surprise me. People can blame Warren Spector all day long, but I think that Disney could have limited his vision and possibly rushed the games. I have heard that Disney prevented Spector from putting certain things in the game, and Disney likely rushed DreamRift on finishing Power of Illusion in time for the holidays. I really don't see the logic of Disney doing these things when those games weren't even based on any movies. I guess Disney viewed the Epic Mickey games as nothing more than a quick buck.

Regardless of whose fault is whose, it's sad that Junction Point Studios will never get the chance to become something extraordinary.

Re: You Can't Use Your Wii Virtual Console Saves With the Wii U Virtual Console

Knux

Nintendo was already going backwards with the Wii U's VC to begin with (having to pay for your VC games again if you want those extra features), so this really doesn't surprise me at all.

On PSN, you don't have to worry about that crap. You can transfer your save data from PS1 Classics and PSP downloadable games to pretty much every platform you can play them on.

Re: THQ President: Lack Of Vigil Buyer Is A "Travesty"

Knux

@Zodiak13 How very thoughtful of you. You wish for a company who employs millions of people to go bankrupt. Talk about being as biased, thoughtless, and heartless as hell. And what's even worse is that you're thirty-three according to your profile. It really says a lot about you. I give a zero out of ten for your first impression.

Re: Nintendo Reveals Plans For Wii U Virtual Console

Knux

So Nintendo likes ripping us loyal Wii owners off? Eff them then.

Also, it's great GBA games are coming to the Wii U, but I'll probably pass. They'll likely put them on the 3DS VC and force you to pay for them even if you downloaded them on the Wii U, because they love their money after all.

Re: Castlevania: Mirror of Fate Will Take About 16 Hours To Suck You Dry

Knux

Most people don't seem to realize that there seems to be a second playthrough mentioned, which is around twelve hours. So if you beat both playthroughs, then you should have around twenty-eight hours of playtime. And I'm guessing that if you're aiming for a hundred percent completion on both playthroughs, it can possibly be 30-40 hours long.

If this turns out to be true, then that's pretty amazing. But it won't matter if the game sucks.

Re: Capcom Comments On Monster Hunter 4 Vita Rumours

Knux

The amount of immature fanboys on this website disappoint me. It's like the Super Nintendo VS Sega Genesis debate all over again except for less facts and more mud-slinging.

This isn't really a denial, but more of ''it may or may not happen'' kind of comment. And a Vita port may not happen right away if it does happen. I can see Capcom porting Monster Hunter 4 to the Vita easily several years after the 3DS version. They love to port their games after all.

Re: Rumour: Monster Hunter 4 Delay Is Due To PS Vita Port

Knux

Damien shouldn't have put ''We hope this isn't true''. It's almost like he's encouraging people to bash the Vita, and I honestly expected better from the staff than seemingly encouraging arguments on which handheld is better. It's unprofessional to be honest.

In reality, this is a wonderful thing. I would much rather play this on the Vita because of dual analog support and trophies. Yes, there is the Circle Pad Pro but it's beyond bulky and requires being removed whenever you want to switch games.

If Capcom is doing this, then it's likely because it will increase sales of their game. There's nothing wrong with that.

Re: Talking Point: The Future Role of High Street Games Retailers

Knux

Over here in America anyway, I highly doubt GameStop is going anywhere anytime soon. It has the best variety for games if you are looking for a retail store that you can go to. Places like Walmart have a very small selection of games compared to GameStop. I mainly buy my games from either GameStop or Amazon.

Re: Talking Point: The Emergence of Download-Only Retail Games

Knux

Nintendo only gamers are pretty much experiencing something that gamers with PS3s and/or 360s experienced years ago.

There's nothing wrong with a downloadable only route for some retail games despite what a lot of other people have claimed. Would you rather NOT have the game at all? Don't even get me started on all the downloadable exclusive games (Mega Man 9 and Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I for example) that would never have existed in retail form to begin with.

Downloadable gaming is actually an awesome thing in my opinion. You don't have to worry about constantly switching out games and you usually can get your games cheaper on non-Nintendo consoles and handhelds.

The problem is that Nintendo tries to make digital downloads as unappealing as possible.

First off, no discounts for the digital versions of games also available at retail is one of the main issues. I'm not surprised that most 3DS games are cheaper at retail or Amazon than on the eShop. That's why I usually buy 3DS games at retail.

On the PS3 and Vita, you usually can get games cheaper digitally than at retail. It might be a $10-$30 discount, but it's still cheaper. The only negatives to digital downloading on non-Nintendo consoles are the packaging and memory space.

Also, when you lose a retail game, it's gone forever until you find it. The beauty about downloadable games is that you NEVER lose them on non-Nintendo consoles or handhelds because everything is tied into a single account.

And that brings me to the second gigantic problem...Nintendo needs to make an account based system ASAP. Having your downloadable games tied to a single system is probably the most idiotic idea that Nintendo has ever thought of. They might have gotten away with it on the Wii and DSi, but it's inexcusable on the Wii U and 3DS.

There shouldn't be a transfer limit on the 3DS to begin with. Everything should be tied to a single account like PSN for example. If your 3DS or Wii U ceased to function, then you would have to go through essentially a lot of hoops to keep your downloadable games.

Let me tell you all how simple it is to keep downloadable data on Sony platforms. Every game you buy is tied to a single account. Your PS3, Vita, or PSP ceases to function and you had to get it replaced? No problem, you simply have to redownload your games that are on your account history. Sony keeps track of ALL of your downloadable purchases, so you don't lose anything whatsoever. But that's not all, you can backup all of your downloadable data (including save data) to an external hard drive in case your PS3 ever breaks, so you can easily transfer all of your data to another PS3 if something happened to your old one. Not only that, but you can even have your save data updated to cloud storage if you have PS Plus.

The thing that baffles me is why Nintendo needs to do a system update to even allow your Wii U downloadable games to be tied to an account. It should have been available at launch, and the same goes for the 3DS for that matter.

I could go on and on, but it simply boils down to this. Nintendo is doing great that they are finally embracing digital downloads and allowing downloadable only retail games like Unchained Blades (which is an awesome game, by the way) to appear on the eShop. But Nintendo needs to get with the times and stop shooting themselves in the foot when it comes to digital downloads.

@Kid A: Unchained Blades was released as both a retail and downloadable game in Japan. In America, it's downloadable only. Hence the term, downloadable retail games. The PSP version of Final Fantasy III is another example. It was released in both UMD and downloadable form in Japan, but it was released only on PSN everywhere else.

Re: Renegade Kid Confirms Mutant Mudds 2

Knux

@SirQuincealot That's nonsense. There are many retro-styled games on PSN. Sony will gladly take any games for the sake of money. They are not like they were in the days of the PS1. Example? Both Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10 are on PSN.

There's no harm in putting games on other platforms instead of limiting yourself to Nintendo devices when they don't even know how to do online properly. Having a game like this on the Vita or PS3 with trophies would be a god-send.
