Re: Nintendo's Former President, Hiroshi Yamauchi, Has Passed Away

Knux

Without Yamauchi, I wonder if I would have ever gotten into gaming. The SNES, N64, and GameCube came into existence thanks to him, and I can never forget the hours of fun I had with the old Nintendo. Plus he probably affected the entire gaming industry, so I probably owe even my non-Nintendo gaming thanks to him.

He wasn't perfect and made a lot of mistakes (the N64 cartridges and GameCube's discs), but he pretty much made Nintendo...Nintendo. Plus, it was due to one of his ''mistakes'' (turning his back on Sony) that caused the PlayStation to be born (and the Xbox also as a domino effect). And Sonic came into existence because he was designed to compete against Mario.

It's really astounding that one man managed to create so many things in the video game industry. We all owe a lot to him. To say that he was the father of Nintendo and one of the fathers of video gaming wouldn't be exaggerating, because that's how much he has affected us.

RIP, you will be missed.

Re: Say Hello To The Nintendo 2DS - A 3DS without 3D

Knux

Believe it or not, I actually like this. The 3D is gimmicky and gives me headaches, so releasing a model that doesn't have 3D is actually a smart move. It also shows just how much faith Nintendo has in their 3D feature, lol.

I might actually buy this even though I own a regular 3DS and 3DS XL.

Re: Interview: Ubisoft On Splinter Cell Blacklist, Taking the Series Forward and Wii U Features

Knux

You know, I really would have bought Blacklist for the Wii U because I personally think that this is the type of game to be perfect for this console. But the absence of local co-op is ridiculous.

I'm not going to use the local co-op mode, but it bothers me that Ubisoft expects you to to pay the effing same price for a gimped version. No matter how minor it may be to you, the lack of local co-op makes this a gimped version. I refuse to be ripped off by accepting this. So I guess I'll buy another version of Blacklist or not at all.

Re: Review: Donkey Kong (Wii U eShop / NES)

Knux

This really is a no-brainer. In my opinion, Donkey Kong has this timeless appeal. I know it's the inferior NES port, but it's still a pretty awesome game. And sharing high scores on Miiverse is also pretty awesome.

I just wish that Nintendo would release the arcade versions of the classic Donkey Kong trilogy, because lots of people will buy it.

Re: Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara For Wii U "Has Been A Bit of A Nightmare" For The Producer

Knux

If Nintendo and Capcom don't release this game soon on the Wii U eShop, then I'll likely just buy it it on PSN. I was thinking this would be awesome to play on the GamePad, but they can't even release an enhanced port of two arcade games without a huge delay.

And don't be surprised if DuckTales Remastered gets delayed being released on the Wii U despite having a release date.

Re: Nintendo Download: 11th July (North America)

Knux

I'm going to buy Star Wars Pinball, Donkey Kong, and possibly Super Mario Bros. 2. But cross-buy and cross-save can really increase sales on games like Super Mario Bros. 2 at a time like this, Nintendo.

Re: Review: New Super Luigi U (Wii U)

Knux

This seriously looks fantastic. NSMBU was the most fun I had with a 2D Mario platformer since SMB3, and this even looks better than NSMBU. I'll wait for the physical release because Nintendo ties all downloads to your console and the packaging looks sweet. I can't wait!

Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo E3 Survey

Knux

It was very mixed, in my opinion. Most of the Wii U games shown during the Nintendo Direct are not going to be released until 2014. Super Mario 3D World looks great but disappoints me at the same time. It doesn't look like an AAA title like Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze looks awesome and was honestly the best surprise at Nintendo's E3. Everything else I already knew about.

The message I got from E3 is that the Wii U is going to be very irrelevant until 2014. NSMBU proves that it's going to take more than run-of-the-mill Mario platformers to make the console sell. I'm sure X, Mario Kart 8, and Super Smash Bros. will help sales greatly.

The Wii U also needs a price cut because it pales in comparison to the PS4, which is only $50 to $100 more expensive. And the lack of third party support is a complete and utter disaster. It's just like the Wii fiasco except with awful sales.

With Nintendo going in the right direction but being ridiculously slow about it and Microsoft doing everything wrong, it's pretty obvious that Sony has a good chance of dominating this generation.

Re: Talking Point: Wii U vs Xbox One - Online Requirements and On-Disc DRM

Knux

Microsoft has made the ultimate nightmare of a device. I cannot call such a POS a gaming console, because it's not a gaming console. It's essentially a multimedia DRM nightmare of a brick that is probably the most anti-consumer product I have ever seen in my life.

Your console has to be connected to the internet once every day? Utter BS. I remember my internet going down for a few days back when I was playing Donkey Kong Country Returns on my Wii, and I was able to play it despite my internet being non-existent.

Blocking used games is also utter BS. A person should have the right to buy games new and used. I buy games used because some of them are just not worth a whopping $60. I try to buy as many games new as possible, but most people like myself don't have endless amount of money.

Lending or giving your copy of a game that you bought to your friend being even remotely compared to piracy is utter foolishness. You bought the game, and so it's your right to do whatever you want to said copy.

The entire ''you should feel like a criminal if you bought the game used'' is such a wrong mentality that it will probably be one of the reasons why the gaming industry may eventually crash.

To everyone that is planning to buy a Xbox One, I have no respect for you whatsoever. You're essentially giving up your rights as a consumer and don't care if you are treated unfairly simply because you like to buy games. You're willing to basically buy a device that will become a brick if you don't connect to the internet once a day, blocks used games, and basically kills off retail games. I cannot consider you even a gamer at all, because you're not if you buy a Xbox One. It's just a device that has games as a bonus.

And the sad part is that I would have possibly bought a Xbox One had Microsoft not included all of this anti-consumer BS within it. Sony better not even think about going down Microsoft's route, or I can also skip the PS4. I can just stick with a Wii U, 3DS, and Vita for my eight generation needs. Because combine that with the massive amount of previous generation games that I still have to play or complete, and I can potentially game like this for years to come without ever buying another console.

Microsoft doesn't seem to care about their customers, so why should I care about their brick...oh I mean ''new console''?

Re: Microsoft: If You're Backwards Compatible, You're Really Backwards

Knux

BC actually is useful because you can play your older games on your new system or handheld while you are waiting for new games to come out. I have so many seventh generation games to play that it's not even funny. The reason I'm not holding it against Sony with the PS4 is because of the new system architecture, which is a legitimate excuse.

But Microsoft is just not including BC because they are being cheap while pulling sh*t out of their a**. Thank you Microsoft for making me not wanting a Xbox One more and more.
