Re: Unchained Blades Coming To North American 3DS eShop In The New Year

@Windy: I know exactly how you feel. If something ever happened to your Nintendo 3DS, then you would have to jump through a lot of hoops like a dog just to get your downloads back on a new 3DS. That is Nintendo's fault because they still refuse to use an account based system like Sony and Microsoft.

If your PSP and/or Vita got stolen or broken, then you would be able to redownload your games since it's all tied to your PSN account. It's relatively simple and stress free, unlike what you have to do if the same thing happened to your 3DS.

There shouldn't be a transfer limit on the 3DS in the first place. Everything should be tied to a Nintendo Network ID. Nintendo claims that they will do this in the future, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Glad to hear that you have a PSP though. Yeah, you should download this game off of PSN. I've been playing that version, and it's solid. Actually, both the PSP and 3DS versions are the same aside from the lack of 3D and the map is on the same screen.

To everyone that's complaining about the game being on eShop and at full price need to realize that this game wouldn't even be in the West via retail form since there's too much cost involved for packaging and etc. You should be grateful that the game is even out. Thanks to digital downloads, gamers can buy games that normally would never be localized.

Also, $30 for essentially for a 80+ hour long RPG (yes, it's that long from what I've heard) is an effing steal if you ask me, Honestly, kids these days...

Re: Talking Point: Time for Wii U to Treat Us Like Adults

Knux

As long as Nintendo continues to insist on maintaining a ''kid-friendly'' image, they're not going to be taken seriously this generation. Nintendo needs to realize that adults (like myself) enjoy gaming just as much as kids and teens do.

Putting a restriction like this on the eShop is only going to make matters worse for the company. Not a lot of adults are going to want to wait until 11:00 PM in order to download a game. Why? Because they are either going to be trying to unwind in order to go to bed or will be asleep. Parental controls should be more than enough. There are no positives to be gained from this.

It's stuff like this that makes me realize that Nintendo will never get with the times. They take one step forward, and ten steps backward. Sony really doesn't have much to worry about this generation.

I may not be personally affected by this since I'm in the USA and NOA is thankfully not that stupid, but it still shows where the company's true priorities are.

Re: Talking Point: Life Without Wii U Achievements

Knux

Trophies/achievements add replay value to games, make playing bad games worth playing (because at least you get something out of it), and allow you to show off accomplishments you have done in games. Trophies/achievements like ''I 100% the game'' or ''I beat a boss without getting hit'' are actually things to boast about for example. All that Sony and Microsoft did was make it a whole lot easier to do so, and it's a more than welcome feature.

This is just another example of Nintendo being foolishly stubborn and old fashioned, just like they have been with the Wii and Nintendo 64. It did them no favors then, and it's not going to do them any favors now.

For example, I was considering buying the Wii U version of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed whenever I do decide to buy the game. But there's no point out now since Nintendo isn't going to do a trophy/achievement system, so I'll likely buy the PS3 and/or the Vita version instead. Also, I'll be buying the Vita version of Zero Escape instead of the 3DS version because of this.

Also, trophies/achievements are optional. You don't have to unlock them to enjoy the game and you can ignore them if you want to. But the excuse of ''pointless achievements take the fun out of the game'' is probably the most stupid argument I have heard against them. They're optional, but you CAN both enjoy playing the game itself and unlocking it's trophies/achievements. I know this because I have done so many times in the past...and it's not that hard, trust me. People who make this argument obviously never owned a PS3, 360, or Vita. That, or they put Nintendo on this ridiculously high pedestal that the company honestly doesn't deserve.

I can assure you that if Nintendo did decide to include trophies/achievements, most of the users would either be like ''Whoa, awesome'' or ''Hmmmm...cool''. I highly doubt there would be many gamers who would be wailing about trophies/achievements being included. But of course, when they're not going to be included, gamers act like trophies/achievements are either meh or some kind of unholy abomination. There are a lot of double-minded users on this website, and I learned that fact today.

Re: Wii U Won't Include Trophies Or Achievements

Knux

Once again you guys are missing the point, probably because you never owned a PS3, Xbox 360, or Vita.

Trophies/achievements are a huge part of gaming. They will make you do tasks in games that you never would have done otherwise. I know that some of them are stupid like ''You started the game up'' or ''You beat the first level''. But there are trophies/achievements that are genuinely challenging. Things like ''beating the game without dying'' or ''100% the game'' are things to boast about for example. All that Sony and Microsoft did was make it to where gamers can show off what they done if they wanted to. You can view a gamer's profile and see what they've done. If someone beats Mega Man 9 without dying or getting hit for example, then I'm going to be effing impressed. It's not just a bunch of random numbers, lol.

Not only do trophies.achievements add more replay value to games, but they also will make playing awful or mediocre games worth something. I regret playing Sonic 06, but I at least got some achievements out of that pile of garbage. If a game like that was ported to the Wii U, there would be no reward for playing such an awful game.

Gamers that disagree with me are just too old fashioned...just like Nintendo still is. It took Nintendo this long to realize that they need a new HD console, just like Nintendo was so low in switching to discs for gaming. In both cases, those mistakes made those two consoles limited in popularity. Now Nintendo is making the same mistake once again. It may not affect the Wii U as much, but it will still make gamers see the Wii U in a less serious light.

Re: Wii U Won't Include Trophies Or Achievements

Knux

I saw this coming...this is Nintendo after all. Huge disappointment and honestly a ridiculously idiotic move. Now most gamers (except for Nintendo cultists) will buy the PS3 or 360 version instead of the Wii U version of multiplatform games. Zero Escape is a perfect example.

Like it or not, trophies/achievements actually increase sales in games. Nintendo just keeps taking one step forward but ten steps backwards. It's both amazing and hilarious at the same time.

Re: Review: Paper Mario: Sticker Star (3DS)

What CrispyGoomba said. It seems like it will be a lot better than Super Paper Mario, although it sounds like this won't be as good as Paper Mario 1 and TTYD...which is disappointing to be honest.
