Well, I’m now glad he is not the president of Nintendo of America, because that is not something I would like to see in Animal Crossing or any other Nintendo property.
I’ve been on the fence for a while for this game, but I ultimately think I’m just going to wait for a price drop, if one ever comes. It’s just not worth the value to me in the end.
You know what else is naughty about this game? “Nega Maid.” Why in the world do companies insist on doing this name? Is there an etymological meaning behind it or something?
This is another situation where the product is now worth what people will pay for it. This game will sell gangbusters because of course it does, and all of us people with legitimate complaints will be ignored. I’ll probably buy this game too, because good casual experiences are rare in the landscape. However, this really pales in comparison to other entries in the series, and I’m sad that this is my intro to it.
Punch Out Wii is one of my favorite games of all time. I will never stop wanting a sequel to that. However, I know that whatever Next Level produces will be quality.
This will be the second video game movie in a row coming out on the month of my birthday, so I’m happy. This movie could be legitimately great, or laughably horrible, and either way, I’m here for it.
The EU version is much better for giving us an actual overview of the game, and some of the enemies and world themes that will be in it. The Japan cover looks like Kirby just blew up a craft factory. Also, I have a soft spot for the original NA/EU Kirby- he’s just so puffy!
I don’t really have any official Sonic anniversary titles, so I’ll get this just to play it and finally beat 3 and Knuckles. Still wish it was Mania 2, but what can you do…
I welcome our dock-planting overlords. It’s really hard to remember to take all the cords of a Switch and find places to put them, so this is something that should be applied to all hotels.
This is just a reminder that as much as we can put Nintendo on a pedestal as these magical fun-makers, they are a corporation just like any other, and they have to be held accountable for their actions. This stuff isn’t okay, and it will never be okay, and some actions are bad no matter who does them. The abuse of part time employees is one of the lowest things to do in any industry, but especially one when it is not at all required.
In a similar vein, “this is how it works in X place”, or “this happens in the real world” is not an excuse. If I punched you in the face, it would be bad regardless of whether other people get punched in the face in the real world or not. You got punched in the face!
I feel like single player needs to be meaty for this game to sell on a similar level to 2. I’m going to get it, as I never properly got into 2, but there’s got to be some more bones in the single-player content.
Clipping can really break immersion when prevalent enough in a game, so it’s great to see that Nintendo is taking steps to solve it. More of the trademark “Nintendo polish” is always a win in my book.
I didn’t think I was going to be into the Mystery Dungeon games, but they really grew on me. Super is probably in my top 20 games, and the ending to Gates of Infinity had be in tears. Brilliant series that manages to be independent of the IP it’s based on.
I don’t even feel like taking any shots at yet another “stability” update. There’s beating a dead horse, and then there’s beating the glue from made from said horse and stirring it into a grinder.
From the little I’ve played, I’m actually pretty impressed with this title. Having more fun than in Super Rush simply due to the strategy involved. My little brother, on the other hand, wanted to play Super Rush the entire time we played this game, because he likes the gimmicks. Different “strokes” for different folks I guess.
Torn between Switch and GameCube/GBA. GBA might be the greatest RPG and Metroidvania machine of all time, so many great games released on the system. The GameCube was great as well, although I haven’t played as many games as I would like. However, the Switch, quite simply, has all the games. Both are really good, but the Switch is just slightly better.
@OrtadragoonX Yeah, probably so. I haven’t played it all the way through (waiting for the collection to come out) but from what I’ve played, it definitely seems the most balanced of the Sonic games.
It really depends on the series. Mario, for example, you can start wherever, all of his games are different experiences with the same basic set of rules. Sonic, on the other hand, has a set point you should start at. I wouldn’t recommend someone to play 1 first, outside of Green Hill Zone it has aged rather poorly. However, likewise, I wouldn’t recommend someone start with games from the Dark Age of Sonic games or Forces, because they are just not good from a metric perspective, nor are they representative of the series. At the need of the day, it’s up to the player to make the decision for themselves, as good games are worth playing and seeking out. Other people’s opinions are a good metric, but they aren’t the be-all-end-all
I’m pretty hyped to see this movie. I’m going to go see it in a bigger movie theater than I usually do on vacation for my birthday, so I’m a fair bit excited.
As a casual Nintendo fan for most of my life until the Switch, the Phoenix Wright, Crash, and Spyro trilogies all get my seal of approval. I’m really glad that I got to experience the more niche or non-Nintendo consoles via the Switch. Sonic and NSMBU Deluxe are quite nice as well, but both somewhat play itself. I still need to try Zelda and Pokémon, those are the two Switch first-party games that have kind of slipped through the cracks for me.
@Ade117 Objectively, NSMBU is the best one if we’re not counting Luigi U. The level design can be really good if uninspired, and the secrets and world map are the best in the series. I think the primary problem is when it came out. I was dead tired of these games when U came out, and I grew up on them! It’s just the same thing that it always has been, and there’s nothing really new added. The original brought 2D Mario back from the grave and introduced ideas from the 3D games, Wii brought back 4-player co-op and decently fun level themes and concepts that we hadn’t seen in a Mario game, and as much as I dislike 2, the coin gimmick was at least something new. U is just a rehash of Wii and 2, with nothing new except for maybe three new level themes that last for 2 levels each. If you were to play the games in reverse order, anyone would prefer U, but it came out at just the worse time for Mario fans.
I guess the console was ‘bread’ for success! The plans to make it didn’t go “awrye”! It might not be the greatest, but it certainly isn’t the ‘yeast’! Hopefully you can bag(ette) this wonderful console if you have enough dough! Alright, that’s it, my puns are toast.
This is somewhat unrelated to the discussion, but am I the only one that doesn’t really care for this track? Everybody acts like it’s a top 10 track, and I just don’t see it. There’s nearly 90-degree turns, which is a big no-no, and while the alternate routes are cool, they are all really janky to access. It works a lot better in Tour, where the turns are designed for that engine, but I much prefer the other two Tour tracks that were remastered.
Interesting argument that they needed to “add verticality” to Sky Garden. They could have done that, and, I don’t know, kept the really cool shortcuts that force you to time your hops, which made the track one of my favorites in DS?
As much as I hate the guy for many reasons, can we talk about how good he was as a bad guy for Wrestlemania? He is the epitome of a despicable human being, and that works great in this scenario.
I’m so psyched to play this now. I’m going to bypass graphical issues by way of PS4, but it’s great that portable is an option. It’s been a while since I’ve played a Lego game, and between this and Kirby, I’m going to get in some good couch co-op play with my brother.
How silly is it that the UK’s top 30 is dominated by terrible brands that made tone-deaf business decisions!
I’m sure the US wouldn’t have an identical list if you swapped FIFA for Madden, right?
Right…?
I feel obligated to report that if you like the WWE brand at all, 2K22 is a huge step up for the series and fun to play. Also, Kirby and the Forgotten Land looks really good, and hopefully good sales of this will drive more 3D platformers from Nintendo.
It’s… fine. It was an excellent concept, but there is no way that this is the best Mario Kart. One thing I can say Double Dash is the best at is items. The strategy involved with the doubles, as well as special items, makes it the best in that respect. However, there’s also only 16 tracks. I mean, with the exception of Rainbow Road and the Mushroom/Wario tracks, the selection is also pretty mediocre. And, as good as the character roster is, Wii’s and 8’s are objectively better. N64 and DS beat its battle mode. Finally, crucially, it is not the best controlling game. The controls are touchy, which is fine, but DS, Wii, and 8 do this concept much better. I would like a remaster/sequel, but Mario Kart Wii, DS and 8 are much better games and Double Dash probably takes 4th spot, better than the 2D games by default and N64/7 for being somewhat archaic to control.
This is so precious. Nintendo and Target have a really weird relationship of great advertising, and I just don’t get why it’s specifically Target, but I like it!
I just wanted to say that a critique of a movie’s quality can be completely objective, regardless of the target audience. For example, if I really enjoyed the original Super Mario Bros. movie because I was a fictional Brooklyn plumber, that’s great! It’s good I could enjoy it for what it was and relate to it. However, that doesn’t change the fact that the movie was terrible on every metric perspective. I haven’t seen this particular movie, and the fan posters look quite nice, but a movie’s quality is almost completely independent of its target audience.
