Re: Metroid Prime: Federation Force Power Bombs in Japan

I don't dislike this game for not being the Metroid game I wanted. I just don't like mission based shooters. I don't think we have to worry about this killing the Metroid franchise. I think we will get another entry once it makes sense in Nintendo's eyes to do so. Hopefully the NX generation is that time.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Favourite Super NES Games?

It's absolutely criminal to force us to choose just 3 of these. There were about 10 on the list that I have very fond memories of. A special shoutout to Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts since I see it has no votes yet. I absolutely love that game, but I can't put it in the top 3.

@AVahne As a person who has taken apart a Wii, they are definitely not doing this. Even the Mini requires much more power than this thing, and this has HDMI support which the Wii did not. This also looks a decent size smaller than a Wii. You can only make a Wii thinner by removing parts, as the motherboard is the same size as the Wii itself. Also it is dirt cheap to create what is essentially a raspberry pi that plays NES roms. Depending on how the emulation works, I could totally see people modding these and adding games that were not intended to be run by it.

I might have read the title the same way if I had not already seen the video. For those unaware, Awesome Games Done Quick and Summer Games Done Quick are annual events that raise money for cancer research / Doctor's Without Borders / etc. It's a week-long stream of people speedrunning games 24/7, and by donating you get entered into several raffle drawings to win some cool stuff, including games and consoles. You can also put money towards naming a save file, having the runner change the run category (100%, for example) or many other things, such as the ever present kill/save the animals war that happens every year for Super Metroid. They also have a Youtube account if you just want to wait and pick/choose the runs you want to watch and don't care about participating.

@nab1 Unbreakable weapons will not defeat the purpose if you keep finding more powerful breakable ones. Something I can definitely see happening is them having iconic items be repairable, which will keep things interesting if they break when you're out in the wild and have to use other weapons until you make it back to a town.

Re: Konami and Capcom Are Bringing Some SNES Classics to New 3DS

As many others have said, it's basically because of the extra things that are forced to run in the background for VC games, on top of having to emulate a console that isn't natively built into the hardware. The DS is, which is why it has no issues playing DS games. I have a cart that has an extra processor inside devoted to helping run SNES/GBA, and they still kinda run like garbage.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Tackles the Native Resolution and Framerate in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD

@Yorumi It's not exactly a Gamecube game anymore once you update most of the textures and lighting, and run it at 1080p.... Also, it DOES maintain 30fps for 99% of the time, and then only dips by a few frames. You can't say it's no longer 30fps because of that. We would then have to say that a 60fps game doesn't exist because they can all be pushed under 60.

Re: Feature: Why We're Still Playing... Metroid Fusion

I had no idea there was this much love for this game. I played it when it came out and just thought it was okay. I appreciated more story, but the game was way too linear for a Metroid game. One of my favorite parts of the series is seeing something that you can't get to yet, and thinking "okay, mental note... I need to come back to this later." It's no fun always knowing where to go next.
