Re: Ian Livingstone: Nintendo Should Have Their IP On Every Platform

@SCAR392 The games aren't similar (btw only All-Stars has the gauge system).

Due to you having to finish someone off with a gauge move, and not knock them off the stage, the tactics and style of play have to be done differently by the player. It's pretty easy to see the differences is style of play. While the mechanics and combat may be similar, the play styles are very different.

In Brawl, you want to find the best way to knock off your opponents and do some damage to them. You don't have to worry to much about being damaged since you can still win even with getting hit a lot by climbing back on the platform and dodging.

In All-Stars, you have to focus on filling your gauge, while trying to slow down your enemy from filling up theirs. I'm not an All-Stars expert, but since you were using yourself as an example, I'd like to point out it was hard for me to get a hang of it.

Re: Video: A History Of Nintendo Controllers in Less Than 30 Seconds

I like the gamepad the most, since that crazy touchscreen. Call me crazy, but my second favorite is the Wii remote. The controller pro for the wii u is also fantastic.

@Ralizah I never really understood how the Duelshock is the best. I'm all for playing favorites, and you probably were just using implications rather than saying general best, but I just don't get it in a general rational way

Re: Pachter Predicts Wii U Price Cut, Feels Nintendo Is Losing "Non-Traditional" Players To Social And Mobile

IIaprghwrughapiw

The part about mobile games taking a bite out of the 3DS makes Pachter look like Captain Obvious.

Unless the Xbox One and PS4 has some crazy gimmick to them that makes people buy both early on, I don't think that most traditional, or casual gamers will flock to them immediately. I'm surprised that he's predicting two Wii selling consoles when others say that there will be a crash, and that both will sell out at launch.

@CliffordB So many people are enjoying Wii U VC, and it's occupying us when we finish the small amount of games that's releasing. I assure you it's not useless.

Are you really saying that VC, even with the amazing deals and special discounts, with some really neat games, even though I got Super Metroid for 30 cents, it's the weakest feature on the Wii U?

@EpicGamer The Origins demo on the 3DS was horrible, and I've heard the port was too, but coming from someone who has played the app everyday, I can assure you that Legends will be one of the greats. So was Origins.

Disney Infinity's gameplay is hardly comparable to Skylanders. Just because it has NFC and Disney in it does not make it a bad, kiddie, casual game. It looks quite fantastic

Re: Warren Spector: Underestimate Nintendo "At Your Peril"

IIaprghwrughapiw

I'm a fan of Warren Spector, and I agree with most he says. I really hope that his next game will be able to make it to a Nintendo console, I'd really love to experience it.

And for those who'll say, "But the PS4 about the games, too", I think he was speaking of the company itself. Sony has divisions focused on movies, music, video games, and tech. Nintendo, right now, is a video game company.

Re: Kickstarter Campaign Opens For A Hat In Time

IIaprghwrughapiw

@NintenU Those people are called generous and investing, nowhere near stupid.

Crowdfunding allows the gamer to decide what game they want, rather than it being approved by the publisher. Do you really think most of these indie games would release without crowdfunding? They wouldn't be made, or they wouldn't have the same amount of freedom/quality they could have from crowdfunding.

There is no rational reason for you to be calling Kickstarter a bad thing, because people asking for money isn't negative in general.
