Re: Tech Journalist Teases "Revolutionary" Scoop In Next Week's Famitsu, Possibly Concerning Sega

Gunnerholic

@Max_the_German If Sega really are being bought by Microsoft and the next xbox console launches with the Sega branding, can you imagine how much it would invigorate the xbox brand, it may even lead to sales in Japan for a change.
Getting back to reality though, I doubt it will be this news probably just an exclusivity deal with Sony or Nintendo or maybe Shenmue 4 back under the sega banner, who knows though.

Re: Developer Survey Reveals Worrying Lack Of Interest In Nintendo Switch

Gunnerholic

What this shows me is, that developers just don't have any faith in the console at this point.

Nintendo is seriously going to have to work tooth and nail to get games out of the door to get customers on board in order to get third party devs back on board. Can they do it? I'm not sure, but I know for a fact that no one will put up with releases every 6 months like on the Wii U.

Re: Denis Dyack Thinks Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes Could Come To Nintendo Switch

Gunnerholic

After playing the Twin Snakes, my psx version of MGS was never played again such a quality remake. The Gamecube era was great in so much as Nintendo really tried to get many varied games and developers on board.

The Gamecube was criminally overlooked and full of little gems like this that many ps2 players missed. I hated the ps2 and never understood its popularity as the Xbox, dreamcast and the gamecube were superior imo. Oh well there's no accounting for taste is there?

Re: Nintendo Board Members Retain Roles After AGM as Share Value Remains Strong

Gunnerholic

@IceClimbers My point is the Wii U is severely underpowered compared to just about anything this generation. I dont ascribe to this idea that Nintendo machines should be only for first party titles, however amazing they are they are just too infrequent we need the third party titles to fill in the gaps. The Sony strategy seems about the best right now.

Re: Nintendo Board Members Retain Roles After AGM as Share Value Remains Strong

That's all well and good that they are trading strongly and all but the way the company direction has changed under Iwata hasn't impressed many long time Nintendo enthusiasts. I hope the NX is everything we've dreamed of; the spiritual successor to the SNES but I doubt it, not with this guy running the roost it's all about underpowered gimmicks. If it wasn't for the strong catalogue of first party titles, Nintendo's home console division would have tanked years ago.

Re: Video: The Nintendo Life Reaction to Nintendo's E3 Digital Event

Gunnerholic

@ValiantPixel You really believe that? I can't say I'm so sure. The Wii U has really highlighted to me how badly managed Nintendo is from the top downwards, they are really at risk of becoming irrelevant in the console market. I feel burned with the Wii U next time nostalgia will count for nothing, I'm out...

Re: NPD Results Bring Solid 3DS Numbers as Wii U Struggles

Gunnerholic

I really hope Nintendo don't throw the towel in with the Wii U, if this console only lasts until next Christmas then I'm afraid I'm going to call it a day on Buying Nintendo products after 25 years. Sounds like Nintendo are looking to move into new markets anyways with this Quality of Life platform.

Re: Batman: Arkham Origins Will Be Cheaper on Wii U

Gunnerholic

I was going to get it for the Wii U regardless, online multiplayer does not interest me in the slightest, never has. I think a large number of Nintendo users feel the same, I for one would rather play local multiplayer any day than against some snot nosed kid who has nothing better than to spend 24 hours a day 'practising'. Which is why I was really surprised Ubisoft went with online mp for Splinter Cell and omitted the local co-op mode.... :/

Re: Pachter: Nintendo Has Lost Its "Mojo"

Do you know what's even more hilarious than Pachter's comments? The overly sensistive commenters who keep on replying to these articles in such a defensive way lmao talk about troll bait, just don't listen or even better take it all with a grain of salt.

Re: Talking Point: The Wii U's Third-Party Concerns Are Brushed Off By 3DS

Gunnerholic

@Yorumi I see what your saying but I still don't think its truly a fair comparison as they are both different products, the 3DS is not an extension of the Wii U. Not everyone who likes console gaming likes handheld gaming and vice versa. I myself am not a fan of handheld gaming as it doesn't offer the same experiences that I crave.

Re: Talking Point: The Wii U's Third-Party Concerns Are Brushed Off By 3DS

Gunnerholic

@Yorumi And what of the PS Vita is that indicative of Sony's fortunes or shall we dissect the performances of each product on the market it is placed? We all know Nintendo is the market leader in handhelds and the goodwill from developers is much better. Nintendo have been cast adrift from third parties in the home console division for years.

Re: Wii U Turned Ubisoft On To Second-Screen Gaming, But Isn't The Focus Moving Forward

Gunnerholic

At the end of the day people going on about the 3DS 'rags to riches' story is not going to parallel the Wii U's fortunes I'm afraid. The home console market is crushingly competitive in relation to the handheld CONSOLE market. The cost of producing games on home consoles nowadays is a gamble some developers/publishers cannot take, its quite depressing really that creativity may suffer because of this but its no different to any other entertainment medium. Sorry to keep banging on about this but Nintendo really needs to try and balance its innovation with hardware parity if it wants to stay relevant in the games market. Times have changed, its not 1993 anymore, third party developers give gamers a lot of choice and its about time Nintendo understood this. Sony has been taking advantage of this for a looong time and it is the path to emulate, as well as having fantastic exclusive franchises (which Nintendo has).

Re: Investor Approval Rating For Satoru Iwata Drops To 77.26 Precent

Gunnerholic

@Pianist88 I would think Iwata is quite hands on with the strategic planning of Nintendo. The blueprint that was set out after the Gamecube was very much Iwata's doing, I remember him coming out and saying that the day of Nintendo competing for the most powerful console around was over, hardware designs were to be more innovative. This worked for a while, the Wii and DS were a breakout success but as everybody knows the casual market moved on and Nintendo failed to have a plan b in place.

Re: Iwata Says He Didn't Commit to Stepping Down Over Missed Profit Targets

Gunnerholic

I wish he would step down, as much as he is a pleasant enough fellow he's shifted Nintendo into an area where its sort of alienated old school gamers. I much preferred the Yamauchi era (Nes, Gameboy, SNES, N64, Gamecube) to Iwata's tenure thus far. I sort of feel that they aren't the Nintendo they once were and although the hardware is more innovative the games have suffered for it, I didn't really get on with the Wii and its motion controls, I like the Wii U but right now the software isn't taking advantage of its features, then again it could be nostalgia talking :/
