Ahead of the launch of Pokémon Unite, The Pokémon Company and Tencent have rolled out a public network test in Japan.
It means you can actually download and play this new free-to-play title from the Japanese eShop right now. Of course, you'll need to have created an eShop account for this region in order to do this. The game requires about 1.4GB of free space on your Switch and is playable until 26th June (aka tomorrow).
Even if you don't understand Japanese, you should still be able to work your way through the sign-up process and get into the tutorial and eventually some battles. There's no mention of this network test happening outside of Japan - fortunately, the official release isn't too far off.
Here are some official screens of the Switch network test via Nintendo's website:

Will you be giving this new Pokémon-themed MOBA a go when it arrives next month? Have you tried out Japan's network test yet? What are your thoughts so far? Leave a comment down below.

Honestly it's becoming nearly necessary to make an alt Japan account if you want to try demos nso games etc. Kinda dumb if you ask me like why isn't this in the west already the game is pretty much finished localization and all
@Ghostchip Honestly I would but I find the news feed changing languages to be really annoying. I just did it to grab the Famicom NSO apps and then removed the account
@tee-cup Yes, Yes! I'm so glad somebody said It! this is the only reason I don't make a alt account, have to be getting news form said place, I hate it and its why I got rid of my account.
Pick some comments from here.
"Oh, No. Tencent. They will hack my account. "
"Say No to Chinese company like that."
"In Tencent we don't trust."
"Yikes, I hate MOBA games."
"This is suck."
"It looks cheap and awful."
"I hate free-2-play games with in app purchase."
"Nintendo should never collaborate with that scummy corporation."
"RIP Pokemon franchise. I'm outta here."
"Tencent will stole all my important identity."
@Ghostchip west apparently already had a beta of the game before
@CodyMKW That was only in Canada and for the mobile version
I bet they might let us pick a team of Pokemon of our own, like pick one Pokemon as 1 Player & the other 4 as computer players.
@Anti-Matter
Tencent froze my auntie with liquid nitrogen then smashed her with a hammer breaking her to bits, all the while setting fire to my uncle!
@Screen Your auntie played Wesley Snipes in Demolition Man?
I am tempted to try it after watching some game play videos.
But I am torn. Because it's Tencent and there are many valid reasons not to trust them and to dislike them. Though there's no need for me to restate them. They've all been said many times over.
And furthermore, it's F2P, a type of game design I really dislike. If it turns out that it's the kind of F2P that you need to either spend real money, or to play for tens or hundreds or even thousands of hours to make meaningful progress, then I'll be dropping the game like a hot rock.
I'll at least try it when it comes out internationally (everyone who I know who plays mobas always talks about how bad it is if you have bad ping so that's why I'm waiting). But I don't see myself spending much, if any, money on the title.
Looks like the kind of f2p cash grab that already has me addicted. Honestly more excited for this atm than BOTW2 🤣🤣🤣
@Awesomebird25 was still outside of Japan
Ah, Pokémon Unite. After playing the Canadian-exclusive beta, it's safe to say that this game gets too much hate. Screw the politics, screw the overhyped marketing choice, screw the genre. This game will be fun once you play it yourself. Seriously, you all need to chill.
Just created a Japanese account to try it out noticed a namcot museum game on the eshop wonder why I can't download it from my UK account
@Heavyarms55 mostly with moba’s I played a few of them, you can only buy characters (in dota 2 ALL heroes are free right from the start) skins, in-game (valuta) XP boosts and other cosmetic related stuff.
Since the dawn of the battle passes they also have become a thing in moba’s. They only gripe is mostly character unlocking, without forking money over it could take a really long time. Good thing tho is that in some games the “best” characters are unlocked from the start but that def depends on the game.
I don’t think they will have pay to play (as in to get stronger) elements in this game. They will just throw ads and cosmetics in your face to promote their stuff.
Winnie the Pooh is a guest character I've heard.
Tried the beta and it exceeded my expectations. Not really understanding the comments here that wouldn't give it a glance, let alone try it.
People seem to actually like this game so far. Definitely willing to give it a shot
The game is pretty solid I'd say. Tried out the beta and honestly had a grand time. I can recommend the game, honestly. I get that it's by Tencent and that's one company that, in my opinion, should burn--- but give it a chance? Yeah, a chance. It's not money heavy, I'd say there's skins but that's about it.
Only find it on eShop not the online account right?
