Last week's Indie World Presentation got off to a high-energy start with another look at the Jet Set-inspired release Bomb Rush Cyberfunk.
It was confirmed then and there that the game would be a 'timed console exclusive' - in other words, it won't be out on "other" platforms like Xbox or PlayStation at the same time as the Switch release. While there was no mention of how long this period would last, not long after the show - Team Reptile shared the following message on social media:
So how long exactly is a "little later"? In the description underneath the official trailer v2 on Team Reptile's YouTube channel, fans spotted the following line:
"Coming 2022 to Steam and Nintendo Switch. Other platforms follow about a week later."
So "a little later" or "about a week later" - however you look at it, it seems Bomb Rush Cyberfunk's Switch exclusivity might be short-lived when the game rolls out in 2022.
On a lighter note, Team Reptile recently showed off another screenshot of the game's lovely environment:
Is this a game you'll be checking out on release? What are your own thoughts about one-week timed exclusivity on Switch? Leave your thoughts down below.

That's awesome! Sure I'm going to get the Switch and Steam version of this game, but Sony and Microsoft fans can get the game too shortly after. Awesome games should be played by everyone!
Geez, I hope Nintendo didn’t fork out for the “timed exclusivity” then, what a waste of money that would be.
Nintendo cheaped out on the exclusivity deal, couldn't throw them another fiver, really!?!
😜
Good news all round though.
Everyone gets to play.
Super duper excited for this game jet set radio was a banger so this has a lot to live up too and it looks like it can
Good. Spread the love. The concept… of love.
@Tedikuma WHAT IS THE CONCEPT, THE CONCEPT, THE CONCEPT. WHAT IS THE CONCEPT, THE CONCEPT OF LOVE!?
Assuming this game runs well on the Switch (and I see no reason why this wouldn’t), the Switch version will likely be the definitive version for me. I’m actually kinda glad it won’t be an exclusive for long since it’ll help the game get more traction and hopefully coax Sega into reviving more of their old IPs
Exclusivity doesn't matter at all to me. Hopefully everyone involved in that decision is fine with this.
Doubt it will be getting much traction on the other systems, regardless.
Noticed, unless it's a runaway success like Among Us or Shovel Knight, indies only tend to turn a decent success on Steam and Nintendo. And the former relies heavily on whether or not it gets drowned out that week by the other releases.
Lmao why even buy out timed exclusivity if it isn't at least for like a month or two
Hell Sony moneyhats all their sh*t for at least a year, but a single WEEK?
Even if it's only a week it's still good all around. It means Reptile Games get a little bit more attention and money from Nintendo to help promote it
There's such a thing as a week long exclusivity deal?
How does that even work?
Huh I must had slept during the entire indie presentation cause this was news to me. That Jet Set Radio ripoff was going to be an exclusive at one time?
lol, I hope Nintendo didn't pay anything for that! I guess it was a quid pro quo, Bomb Funk got publicity during the indie presentation in return for pretending to be exclusive by delaying the other versions by a week.
Oh good. Unless it's 2D or exclusive to Switch, I try to get everything on a more powerful console.
Really hope Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is a better game than Hover (The last game inspired by Jet Set Radio with a Hideki Naganuma soundtrack) I'm a bit concerned about the lack of straight up Switch gameplay footage (unless I've missed it)
This is a title I’ve wanted to see for a long time. And if SEGA are unwilling to do it themselves, getting someone else to grab the original composer is the next best thing. This is a day one purchase for me.
That was fast, sales low...?
