Re: Nintendo Is Investing In Office Space In Japan To House More Game Development

Gamer_Zeus

Maybe this will be a new warehouse/distribution centre, Nintendo like other big companies might be looking to implement their own order fulfilment services and logistics.

Relying soley on other suppliers for this isn't really a reliable thing anymore, with the pandemic having slowed global trade down and continuing to do so, with scalpers running rampant.

This wouldn't be a bad idea but we'll have to see what they do.

Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think Of The Game Awards 2021?

Gamer_Zeus

Okay yeah Metroid Dread is a decent enough game but winning awards? Lol this is a niche game that nobody outside of the hardcore Nintendo fanbase would care about. Nobody is about to go purchase a Switch for a game you can finish in a single weekend.

The Game Awards is never really a great time for Nintendo unless they released a Zelda or Mario game that year.

Re: Talking Point: Should The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Library Expand Faster?

Gamer_Zeus

@SilentHunter382 but you don't have to compare it to anything, there is no reason too, so what it almost costs the same price?

So what the value isn't as good as PS+ or Xbox Live?

Is it still good value for money? Yes... so why bother to compare it under those weak reasons?

Be real with yourself right now, pretend that the other services didn't exist at all, pretend that Nintendo's services was the only service, would you honestly, with a straight face, be able to sit there and tell me over $270 value in video games for $50 a year is a bad offer?

Seriously??

Re: Talking Point: Should The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Library Expand Faster?

Gamer_Zeus

@Gwynbleidd you sound quite jaded by all this, i do kind of get why though, you know the annoying thing about the Virtual Console?

I'm not entirely sure how many games you've purchased on it but i purchased around 19 myself, which cost me upwards of $200 at the time, costing between $8-$15 each.

Thats 4 years worth of NSO subscriptions and over 130 games, you can see it however you want to see it.

Nobody is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to take this, but the fact remains, the service is good value for money.

Re: Talking Point: Should The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Library Expand Faster?

Gamer_Zeus

The issue with so many people who criticise the NSO, is that its being compared with other similar services and it doesn't hold up.

But the reality is, most of these N64 games on the virtual console cost $9.99, the others cost around $7.99 - if you consider ever SNES/Genesis game being $2.50 and every NES game being $1.

You're looking around $270 in value for the entire service.

Now i believe PS+ is around $400 and Xbox Live is over $500 in value, which is a lot higher than $270...

But $50 a year for $270 worth of video games is a solid proposition, especially after it breaks the $300 mark. I just this people need to stop comparing NSO with other services.

If you think about it separately, it's still great value for money.

Re: Talking Point: What Can This $1200 Portable PC Tell Us About The 'Switch Pro'?

Gamer_Zeus

@Vexx234 this happens because even to this day there is a loud vocal community of gamers outside of the Nintendo fanbase that has continously shat on Nintendo and anything they ever do, with a large majority of them (albeit a small community to begin with) actively demanding that Nintendo goes 3rd party everytime Nintendo get a good game that won't be on other platforms.

Examples of instances such as this have happened even as recently as March this year when Nintendo got MH Rise and a vocal minority of PS users were all up in arms over it being exclusive on the Switch.

This all has the side effect of making a small minority of Nintendo fans very insecure about anything that might threaten their precious company that probably has no idea of their existence.

It's all a bit silly really but unfortunately Nintendo have kind of created that situation themselves by being so hit and miss with their hardware.

Re: GTA Trilogy's Physical Edition For Switch Has Been Delayed, Will Now Arrive In "Early 2022"

Gamer_Zeus

This is a media talk for "we don't really want to release a physical version of this game at all" well i was actually planning on buying that. But to be fair i totally expected this to happen to the Switch version following it's disastrous launch.

This really was a disaster, it was the first game they've put on Nintendo consoles since 2017 and the first GTA game in well over a decade.

My guess is that, having been panned so hard by every single angle, they've thrown their kiddy toys out of the pram and quite possibly canned the Switch physical version. With some understandable reasons though.

Considering releasing a game on the Switch physically actually costs a developer money to do and the bad reception this game has thus far gotten, I'd imagine Rockstar probably have cut their loses on this one.

don't expect to see a Switch version of this game at all, if you want to play it, you best free up some space on your SD card

Re: Former Metroid Prime Engineer Admits He Was "Disappointed" With The Wii's Specs

Gamer_Zeus

@Zuljaras PS3 was a nightmare because of the duel cell processor, the damn thing was a beast but it was way ahead of it's time. It was still considered a powerful processor even up until 2015, 2 years into the PS4s lifetime.

It was basically what Sega did with the Sega Saturn, made a bespoke device that was years ahead of it's time and the technology wasn't there to compliment it. PS3 wasn't nearly as bad as the Saturn though.

Re: Former Metroid Prime Engineer Admits He Was "Disappointed" With The Wii's Specs

Gamer_Zeus

Nintendo isn't about strong hardware. They are about strong software.

They make gimped hardware with gimmicks attached to them but they also make some of the best games in every single console generation and they lock those ridiculously good games behind their substandard hardware.

It's a hit and miss business model. It all boils down to what gimmicks they use to sell the hardware and if it'll catch.

The Wii was successful but a fad, got boring real fast.
The Wii U's gimmick didn't work at all.
The Switch hit it out of the park.

It all depends on the gimmick.

Re: This Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Randomiser Moves Everything Around And Steals Your Items

Gamer_Zeus

Yeah Emulation isn't piracy but as far as i know, the only thing you can do with a modded Switch is download games that Nintendo doesn't have, i haven't heard of a modded Switch playing a suped up version of BOTW. I don't believe you can mod a Switch to play games at 60fps on 4k.

Im fairly certain that can only be done by pirating the game on PC. Considering the game isn't native to PC, that would be considered piracy.

Re: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Are Out Today On Switch, Which Version Are You Getting?

@mr-duster comment#83

Your quote "it saddens me".

You said that to me, i don't care about your conversation with anyone else and i don't care that it saddens you.

I want to purchase these games, but i am forced not too because there is a feature that is being forced into these games that make them boring.

I use to be a fan of the series but since they started forcing EXP share, i have been FORCED to stop supporting them.

What is it about that concept that is flying over your head?

Re: Rockstar Apologises For GTA Trilogy Issues, First Of Multiple Updates Due In 'Coming Days'

Gamer_Zeus

@Hwatt i honestly doubt they managed to take that much money to begin with, the review embargo they had in place when the games had literally been released was a blimp sized red flag, i for one backed out then, holding off for physical now.

But i know many people didn't get the games because of the initial red flags, then it started to become clear they are a mess.

I think if these remakes even managed 2m sales they probably would have ignored the noise and ran with the money.

I doubt they even sold 1m between all systems.

Re: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Are Out Today On Switch, Which Version Are You Getting?

Gamer_Zeus

@mr-duster i gave forced exp share a try and it ruined my entire experience of Pokemon, i have no intention of trying it again.

It's a ridiculous feature that has been added to make an already easy game, even more easy.

The way i see it, if they want to force exp share on us, then i am forced not to support them. Yes it is forced, because i want to support them but i am unable too, their ridiculous feature has forced me into making a decision i didn't want to make.

I honestly don't care that it saddens you either, i don't play games to make you or anyone else happy.

Re: Japanese Charts: Shin Megami Tensei V Goes Straight To Number One

Gamer_Zeus

This is expected from SMT, one of the best JRPGs of this generation, to be the best selling game in a region that mainly buys JRPGs.

On hardware:

You can clearly see Sony's focus shift away from Japan, to be fair that was understandable on Sony's part. Especially after the Wii and DS, Sony became a very distant second with their bulky ass PS3.

I mean in Japan the Wii U was actually beating the PS4 some weeks, so i totally understand why Sony shifted focus outside of their home territory, Sony are better off putting their resources in territories that do support them.

The surprising part here is Xbox and how well they are doing. Seems Microsoft could surpass Sony in Japan eventually.

Re: Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Calls For Industry-Wide Support Of Game Preservation Via Emulation

Gamer_Zeus

@DrDaisy Nintendo are very anti emulation. This is the exact opposite stance that Nintendo are taking, to a lesser degree so are Sony.

But Microsoft are embracing emulation, that could be really big going forward, it isn't going to create any fanfare for Nintendo's stance by highlighting one of their main competitors is sitting on the opposite, more popular end, of that particular spectrum.
