Re: Shin Megami Tensei V Tops 1 Million Sales Worldwide

Gamer_Zeus

Btw guys, this isn't the 90s anymore, 1m sales doesn't quite cut the mustard anymore, if your game has no microtransactions, 1m sales is under 60m and AAA games cost double that on average to fully develop. Even the lower ends one will cost 60-80m to develop.

1m sales is a loss, break the numbers down and 1m sales just doesn't add up, it isn't enough at all.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei V Tops 1 Million Sales Worldwide

Gamer_Zeus

@AndyC_MK111 Well that was a rant, do you even know how much it cost to develop and market the game?

Because from what i know, this game took years to develop and they spent a lot on market, I'm not 100% sure on figures but I'd venture to guess that they probably spent around 70-80 million to make and market the game from start to finish, this includes paying staff for all those years too. You know what though, for arguments sake, we'll say it cost 60m to develop...

Do you think they recouped their loses with 1m sales? 1m sales is roughly 60m (which would break even), a bit less when you take off tax and what they will of paid for publishing and physical distribution. They probably made around 50m

They lost money on this game. 1m sales is literally dog sh*t for a game that was in development this long on a console with 100m install base.

Their not sitting there happily looking at sales, they are probably looking at ways to put this game on other hardware to recover loses.

Re: No More Heroes 3 Is No Longer A Switch Exclusive

Gamer_Zeus

It's totally understandable, the game was mediocre junk to begin with, it should have been multiplatform at the start.

Games like that need as much coverage as possible to recoup dev costs, releasing on one platform is just counterintuitive when your product is just so lacklustre to begin with.

Re: Nintendo Updates Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Game Page With Stunning New Artwork

Gamer_Zeus

I enjoyed the first quite a bit on the Wii and even the remake on the Switch, but Xenoblade 2 was a steaming pile of doodoo and i didn't really get into the one on the Wii U either.

I don't care for this game, i dunno why they insist on releasing more of these games, the entire franchise has sold less than 5m copies. 4 games with less than 5m sales between them isn't good.

Not when games like 1-2 Switch have sold more than 80% of your entire franchise has ever sold. If you're faced with that fact, you need to move on, not keep flogging the horse. The franchise is clearly niche.

Monolith should develop another IP also Monolith should learn how to use HD graphics, stuck in the mid 00s visually and it's getting really lame now.

Hard pass.

Edit: i know this game has dedicated hardcore fans, but unless you guys start buying 5 games each, this franchise will always remain a niche that not many people will play or care about.

Re: Kingdom Hearts Cloud Collection Arrives On Switch In February, Pricing Revealed

Gamer_Zeus

I'm guessing someone must be buying these cloud games because developers keep doing it.

Despite the fact that it seems unanimously hated, I'm guessing that it must cost little to host the game for them and anyone who does buy it, is just lining their pockets and they can easily turn around and say "hey look we supported Nintendo"...

It's a bit pathetic but it must be working because why else would so many companies put on cloud games on the Switch?

Re: Nintendo Switch Was The UK's Bestselling Console In 2021

Gamer_Zeus

@rockodoodle to be fair im more with you on this too, the fact that you can't just walk into a Walmart and purchase a PS5 off the shelf on a whim, over 1 year after release has definitely played into Nintendo's favour here.

Also Nintendo have done well with the games too which obviously matters but id put a vast majority of the reason down to sheer luck.

Re: Back Page: After Spending $70B On Activision Blizzard... What If Microsoft Buys Nintendo Next?

Gamer_Zeus

If Microsoft were even allowed to buy Nintendo, i doubt they'd have spent 70 billion on Activision-Blizzard.

Certain laws in Japan make it very difficult for foreign investors to purchase Japanese companies. Not impossible but very difficult, with the added local tendencies to stick to their own products, many foreign investors steer clear of Japan in general.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.foreignaffairs.com/articles/japan/2021-10-13/why-nobody-invests-japan%3famp

I know most won't be able to read that article but the gist of it is, Japanese people don't like foreign companies very often.

Also as others have stated, Nintendo actually own most of their own stock to avoid a hostile takeover. Microsoft tried in the early 00s to buy Nintendo and even then Microsoft were worth 150b with Nintendo at 10b and still were not able to legally do it.

Re: Microsoft And Activision Will Continue To Support "A Variety Of Platforms" Despite Acquisition

Gamer_Zeus

@HeadPirate you're really doubling down on your entitlement here. If the game is an Indie game we may see it, but you are in some fantasy world if you think we'll get any AAA games, i doubt we'll even get a Crash Bandicoot game.

Like i said, we won't see another COD, Diablo or Overwatch game on the Switch, that will include Overwatch 2. The same way we won't get another DOOM, Wolfenstein or Elder Scrolls game either.

I wonder how you'd react if suddenly Nintendo decided to let Microsoft have BOTW on GamePass 🤣.

Like i said before, we may get smaller Indie games or some little kiddie games as you mentioned, but the games that matter, no you'll not see them again.

Re: Microsoft And Activision Will Continue To Support "A Variety Of Platforms" Despite Acquisition

Gamer_Zeus

@HeadPirate also you need to climb off your horse there a bit buddy, you do realise that Nintendo benefitted a lot more than Microsoft from Microsoft published games on their platform, you seem to think Microsoft had the advantage?

If you think thats true then why aren't Nintendo games on other hardware?

Who would benefit more from Mario on Sony? because it isn't Nintendo... lol

Your comments reek of Nintendo entitlement.

Re: Microsoft And Activision Will Continue To Support "A Variety Of Platforms" Despite Acquisition

Gamer_Zeus

@HeadPirate you do realise that Microsoft published a bunch of Indie Games on the Switch right? Because i don't think you do.

People like you always seem to think that Microsoft will give us their best games, like how many of you legitimately thought we'd get GamePass? 🤣🤣, why can't you use your common sense?

If Nintendo just purchased Sega and all of their IPs, would you expect to see them on other platforms?

if Microsoft made all Bethesda games exclusive after spending 8 billion to buy them, what makes you think they won't do the same with Activision after spending 70 billion?

I'm going to be honest here, you know why you think we're going to get Microsoft published games? Because entitlement.

The best we will get will be some small indie games, like we have been getting.

We won't see COD
We won't see Diablo
We Won't see Overwatch
We won't see any big AAA games.

Because Microsoft have NEVER given us any big AAA games.

Re: And The US' Best-Selling Console Of 2021 Was... Nintendo Switch

Gamer_Zeus

@RobotReptile i think profit data on each console is a little bit harder to get, does Nintendo even officially announce what their profit margins for each console are?

For that matter does Sony announce what their loses are?

I think some websites speculate on such things but i don't think any of the big players share that actual data, personally i think they should but as overall sales data and cost per console is the only factual metric we have on that, it can't really be considered arbitrary if there is no other data to go on.

Re: Talking Point: How Does Microsoft's Purchase Of Activision Blizzard Impact Nintendo?

Gamer_Zeus

@BloodNinja I've already spoken to you and i know how limited your knowledge of any other countries are except for the US.

You don't know how the rest of the world works but it's okay, I'll help you understand a little bit.

Japan has LAWS against foreign buyouts, so unless Microsoft lobbies to literally change Japanese laws (which they won't because doing such a thing would hurt them more than buying Nintendo could help them), Nintendo won't ever be purchased by Microsoft.

Re: Talking Point: How Does Microsoft's Purchase Of Activision Blizzard Impact Nintendo?

Gamer_Zeus

@GamerDad66 exclusive games were more prevalent in the SNES and Sega Genesis era than they ever have been today so this isn't anything new, i wouldn't be too worried about this.

This won't effect Nintendo's own games, mainly because i doubt Nintendo will be getting many games off the back of this, if any at all.

It will have an impact on Sony though, there really is no sugar coating that, Sony humiliated Microsoft in 2013 and you have to believe that this is some sort of pay back for that and oh boy are Sony getting paid back.

Sony can't even make their hardware available while Microsofts is a lot easier to get.

Re: Microsoft And Activision Will Continue To Support "A Variety Of Platforms" Despite Acquisition

Gamer_Zeus

Nintendo fans here are living in some fantasy worlds. Do you people seriously believe that because Microsoft gave us a handful of indie games they published, we're somehow going to get these bigger games too?

By the way those indie games we did get, ONLY reason we got them was because they were not selling on Microsoft hardware, so Microsoft saw a benefit in giving those games to us, but it isn't even close to being the same for bigger games...

But I'll humour your imaginations, I'm sure Microsoft will give us these games while getting absolutely nothing back in return and they will also provide back rubs and feet massages to all Nintendo gamers because entitlement huh... 🤣🤣🤣

So many people here living in some fantasy land that it is actually quite worrying to see.

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 'Second Wind' Mod Videos Targeted By Nintendo

Gamer_Zeus

I get why Nintendo does this, its not entirely unreasonable but i do think what a person does with that game should be entirely up to them after they purchased it, if that includes modifications then whatever.

But it becomes an issue when someone uploads videos online on how to do it and benefits monetarily from the videos. Which is exactly what was happening here. (Not by selling the mod itself but by get paid from advertising on the videos).

I don't think Nintendo cared that he modded the game, i think Nintendo cared that he was benefiting from the videos financially.

Re: Capcom's Former Switch Exclusive Monster Hunter Rise Is Off To A Great Start On Steam

Gamer_Zeus

@Ulysses yeah no worries, i got rather annoyed at the "rose tinted glasses" comment and proceeded to do exactly the same thing with your opinion so it makes me no better.

But yeah i agree, the series has been getting dumbed down more and more and it all really started with World so i get what you mean when you say you hate it more for that fact, MHGU was literally the pinnacle of the series before Capcom dumbed it down, i guess you could call some aspects of it "streamlined", but much of it is to cater to the casuals and get as many sales as possible.

I do feel that Rise took that notion of "dumbing down the games" and turned it up 10 notches though, it started with World i agree, but one game later and you're a giant dog riding Spiderman thing just whizzing around the map.

It was all just a bit over the top in Rise, World made the Gameplay a lot more faster and added a lot to what the player can do.

I felt that they could have at least made 2 or 3 more games in the same vein as World before turning up the dial on the "streamlining" of the game but whatever.

I like both Rise and World so i don't care at the end of the day, I'm comparing two games that i like and both are among my top 10, i actually got into the series with MHGU around mid 2020, but i simply got overwhelmed by how much there is to do, Rise was coming out too in March of 2021 and i had World to play too.

I should really go back to MHGU. Oh look a wall of text... 🤣

Re: PlatinumGames Appoints New CEO, Aims To Deliver 'Innovative Forms Of Play'

Gamer_Zeus

@NWC i found VR to be a bit of a fad, i was really digging it for about 3 months but after a while i got bored.

I couldn't sit there for more than an hour or two with those headsets on my head, my eyes would get tired fast and it was physically tiring having to just play games, have you ever played SuperHot VR? It's like a freaking workout, i wanna play games not work out, i got gym already lol.

But seriously its not bad but it isn't practical for long sessions of playing, you cant sit through a 200 hour game doing 5-6 hour play sessions with VR, it just isn't comfortable or at all viable.

It's a good fad but there is a good reason why it will never really replace proper traditional video games.

Re: Video: We Tried To Convince A PS5 Fanboy To Get The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack

Gamer_Zeus

I have the NSO+ but i totally understand why someone wouldn't get it. The thing is, if you break it all down, it's actually great value for what you pay.

I mean the N64 games if they were being sold on VC would be minimum $10 each. Ocarina would probably be $15 and Banjo would be at least $20. The SNES and Genesis games would be $3-$6 each and the NES games would be $1-$3 each.

Now id rather i didn't pay to use online but that battle has already been lost, there is no point getting worked up over that fact anymore because it is a fact now. Most I'd be willing to pay for Nintendo's Shoddy online service, without game lobbies, VC or a coherent friend adding system, would be $12 per year ($1 per month), which means i get everything else for $38.

It's honestly decent value for money, it's hard not to realise that when you look at it individually.

The problem is, everyone is comparing it to PS+ and Xbox Live and next to those services, it really doesn't even come close. Which is the reason i 100% understand why people don't buy into the NSO service.

Re: Capcom's Former Switch Exclusive Monster Hunter Rise Is Off To A Great Start On Steam

Gamer_Zeus

@JaxonH no it didn't start off with me dismissing other people's opinions, i stated my opinion and i was told that my opinion is based on "rose tinted glasses"... which is the text book definition of having your opinions dismissed.

Even though it's actually the most popular opinion within the community which is the exact opposite of "rose tinted glasses"...

But lets be real here, my opinion got called out here because Rise is on the Switch and World isn't. Makes Nintendo fans mad.

Which makes the fact that Rise didn't even get to the top 100 games of all time in Japan (Nintendo County) while World got to 70 even more glaring.

"Rose tinted glasses" indeed 🤣.

Re: Capcom's Former Switch Exclusive Monster Hunter Rise Is Off To A Great Start On Steam

Gamer_Zeus

In fact here you go, this is from a Nintendo fansite IN Japan (where MH games are most popular), an article you may remember actually, rating the top 100 games of all time in Japan.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nintendoenthusiast.com/100-favorite-console-games-of-all-time-in-japan-50000-users/amp/

World is in position 70 while Rise isn't even in the top 100 games.

This is a country that prefers Nintendo over every other console maker and is a country who are huge fans of MH and out of 50,000 gamers, they couldn't get Rise in the top 100 games.

trust me, World is a better game, you can have you opinion, but it's an unpopular take on the subject and if anything, you are the one wearing fanboy glasses.

Re: Capcom's Former Switch Exclusive Monster Hunter Rise Is Off To A Great Start On Steam

Gamer_Zeus

@TanukiTrooper You do realise that literally 90% of review sites and gaming channels puts World above Rise right? Are they all using "rose tinted glasses"?

I mean before reeling off your unpopular take on this matter, did you decide to look at what the wider concensus was on this? before claiming "must be rose tinted glasses"

Here you even proved my point for me, you know that 1 quests in World is the equivalent to roughly 2.5 quests in Rise?

"World (Vanilla): 117 Hub quests, 52 Event quests, 26 rotating Special Arena quests + random generated research quests. Total: 195 quests. 36 Large Monsters, 18 small monsters.

Rise: 128 Hub quests, 43 Event quests, 55 Village quests + random generated rampage quests. Total: 226 quests with more event quests incoming. 46 Large Monsters, 26 small monsters.".

I was looking for this info, this can perfectly be used to prove my point. Which makes it hard to believe you played World because if you did you would know the biggest difference.

Because in World, those total 195 quests are the equivalent to 400 Rise quests, easily, possibly more because every single quest in World takes a lot longer to finish, the maps are bigger, there is no magic satellite to tell you where the monster went, better haul ass and get there fast, there is a lot more preparation for killing monsters and quite frankly the World quests are a lot more engaging, especially at the end compared to Rise.

On Rise in the allocated 45 mins you can easily kill all 3 monsters on the map unless you are legitimately bad at the game. You wouldn't be able to do a similar feat on World by any stretch of the imagination.

Now granted the reason for some of this is down to the dumbing down of the Series "lets show you where monsters are so you don't have to "hunt anything" - this annoys me to no end because it literally takes the Hunter away from "Monster Hunter".

Anyway you should take your fanboy hat off buddy.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thegamer.com/best-monster-hunter-games/amp/ -rose tinted glasses huh?

https://boardgamestips.com/scrabble/what-is-considered-the-best-monster-hunter-game/#What_is_considered_the_best_monster_hunter_game - rose tinted glasses i assume?

Re: Capcom's Former Switch Exclusive Monster Hunter Rise Is Off To A Great Start On Steam

Gamer_Zeus

@Ulysses not sure how im wearing "Rose tinted glasses" when i literally played both games about 8 months apart. Like i said Rise was my Goty for 2021 but i don't kiss ass, I'm objective even when i like something.

No it isn't true about "more streamlined quests", the world is literally smaller in Rise, granted World takes longer to traverse, but its just so much more spread out, with a lot more to do.

You might call it "QOL" but a lot of stuff added into Rise just dumbed the game down, like the monster ALWAYS showing up on the mini map. The ability to instantly know where the monster is ruins a lot of the "hunting" part of Monster Hunter dont you think?

They should call it Monster Killer from now on, you're not really hunting anymore. Don't even get me started on Talismans...

Re: Capcom's Former Switch Exclusive Monster Hunter Rise Is Off To A Great Start On Steam

Gamer_Zeus

Great game, can't wait for the DLC, i put 270 hours into the game so far and it was my 2021 GOTY.

@-Juice- unfortunately this is true, Rise is by no means a short game though, it's still a solid 250-300 hour game.

But you're right, its the shortest MH game since the PS2 era, for Rise+DLC to match base World in content, without Iceborne, Sunbreak will need to have at least 200-250 hours of additional content, essentially doubling whats there currently. Which is highly unlikely, at most they'll add on an additional 100 hours of content which will be great but still a long way off World, i hope they don't continue that trend. But annoying thing about all this is World with Iceborne has even less content than GU, so it seems to be where they are going.

Re: Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection Announced For Switch This February

Gamer_Zeus

They managed a good port of Rogue & Black Flag do i expect this to be well done but im not touching it. The buck ends with Black Flag as far as the old style games go for me, i feel that Black Flag was the culmination of all the games before it.

Syndicate was a terrible game through and through.

Honestly, i would even rather have Origins than this.

Hard Pass

Re: Random: LAPD Officers Fired For Catching Pokémon Instead Of Crooks

Gamer_Zeus

@BloodNinja it's cute that you're loyal but blind loyalty can be quite misguided.

if you bothered to even read any of the articles that i sent, which you haven't because blind loyalty dicates that you avoid reason. None of them are "isolated incidents" as you put it.

They are all examples of the training other countries do compared to the training the US does.

*1 hours spent training to be a police officer
2 training methods used
3 the types of individuals inducted into the force*

The US is the LOWEST in all these categories, this isn't a "one state thing". These are not "isolated incidents" - this is a broad issue.

But the fact that you didn't read my articles actually proves my entire point about "law enforcement and intelligence".

The only people i notice who defend law enforcement are people who lack the intelligence to understand what law enforcement actually is.

Re: Random: LAPD Officers Fired For Catching Pokémon Instead Of Crooks

Gamer_Zeus

@BloodNinja in fact...

Here you go, you just need to read the title.

This article is from 2021: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.yourtango.com/news/police-high-iq-max-limit-degrees-police-reform%3famp

This article is from 1999:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/abcnews.go.com/amp/US/court-oks-barring-high-iqs-cops/story%3fid=95836

Do you realise what this means? It means there is literally a prejudice against SMART people from becoming police officers in the US. For more than 20 Years!!!

They can legally BAN smart people from becoming police officers and its been going on for more than 20 years.

If you score too high on an IQ test they can ban you from law enforcement.... Just say that to yourself.

Re: Random: LAPD Officers Fired For Catching Pokémon Instead Of Crooks

Gamer_Zeus

@BloodNinja you claim to have no knowledge of how law enforcement works in other countries but you vehemently defend the law enforcement in your own country despite the fact that we are literally able to HAVE this argument because your policing is just so bad.

You don't see other countries having the same issue as the US with their policing, there are plenty of statistics to prove that your police officers are underqualified and under trained. We don't have other people from other countries having to sit there and defend what their police officers do, for good reason.

They might not all be inept but a great many of them are, you refuse to educate yourself on other countries policing which will give you no spectrum to gauge from, you have no idea what "good" or "bad" is until you actually look at other countries.

It is literally no exaggeration when i say that US police are the least trained of all other developed nations, it's truly an embarrassment.

Re: Random: LAPD Officers Fired For Catching Pokémon Instead Of Crooks

Gamer_Zeus

@BloodNinja have you read about the rest of the worlds requirements? Because if you did you'd be even more sadder and feel even more stupid.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-56834733.amp

I'll also leave these here just in case you think its propaganda:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.insider.com/some-police-academies-require-fewer-hours-of-training-plumbing-2020-6%3famp

You can imagine whatever you like but your police officers are genuinely inept compared to other countries.

Re: Random: LAPD Officers Fired For Catching Pokémon Instead Of Crooks

Gamer_Zeus

This tends to happen when your main demographic of workers are High School drop outs. Not many people go through university and decide at the end to be a police officer.

The demographic of people who go into policing tends to be the least intelligent of our population.

This is why they are mostly either lazy or trigger happy.

Re: Capcom Celebrates Street Fighter's 35th Anniversary With New Logo And "Future Development" Tease

Gamer_Zeus

@Banjo- yeah Sony have stolen the Street Fighter franchise for themselves. Street Fighter is HUGE in competitive gaming, Sony accommodated that community very early on which gave PlayStation the sales advantage historically with the franchise. They basically own the IP now, or rather, Capcom have a contract with them on it.

I guess kind of like Bayonetta on Nintendo, similar situation.

Re: Random: Nintendo Kart Is Trending On Social Media, Following Claims Of Mario Kart 9 Being "In Active Development"

Gamer_Zeus

@Dezzy70 lol so? In what way does that prove Nintendo are lazy?

It doesn't matter that they outsource half of their development, in what way does that prove anything?

Do you even know how long game development takes? Clearly not because you're all over this topic like some crazy person shouting "Nintendoooooomed" it's ridiculous.

You also some imaginary expectations of what a software developer is capable of doing.

You seem to be seriously unaware of the current global situation which makes me wonder if you're even older than 16?

Anyway you need to chill out, Nintendo are doing just fine and they are making plenty of games, if it isn't good enough for you then stop crying and go play something else kid.

Re: Random: Nintendo Kart Is Trending On Social Media, Following Claims Of Mario Kart 9 Being "In Active Development"

Gamer_Zeus

@Dezzy70 your issue is that you are very self centered, you think that because none of the other games appeal to you, they don't matter, it's typical for young kids to think this way but how old are you?

it isn't just about you. Other people actually exist 🤣

Animal Crossing
Smash Bros
Paper Mario
Luigis Mansion
Mario Party Superstars
Super Mario 3D Bowser's Fury
Metroid Dread

Even 3rd party games like No More Heroes, SMT V, Octopath Traveller and Monster Hunter Rise (all Switch Console exclusive games) exist.

You can't point at a handful of games you like and then say "Nintendo has no games"... thats just stupid.
