Re: Metroid Dread Crowned #1 In TIME's 'Best Games Of 2021'

Gamer_Zeus

@BongoBongo i genuinely don't know anyone who counts their game time by the in-game time counter so i don't really know why people point out that it's different from the actual system counter.

I think every single person knows this.

And yes that timer is from the system game counter. 10 hours for my first run and 8 for second.

Re: Online Multiplayer And DLC Are Coming To Cruis'n Blast

Gamer_Zeus

I might get this game, it looks interesting, i had it on my radar for a while but since getting my PS5 and playing some games i haven't completed there, the Switch has been a mini dust collector for the last 3-4 months.

I suspect this'll change when i start SMT V though.

Re: Ubisoft Staff Are Leaving Their Jobs In Droves, Report Claims

Gamer_Zeus

@PtM Too much self reflection is a sign of self centered emotional disorders.

Spending too much time second guessing your own self worth by constantly questioning yourself isn't indicative of a mentally healthy person.

Its important to think on ones owns actions but its also important to be able to act without hesitation at times.

Woke culture is a sickness that is causing people to second guess everything they do and by extension, what everyone around them does.

You can't maintain an argument with a "woke" person because they are so blinded by their own over sensitive emotions.

Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Switch Ports Of 2021

Gamer_Zeus

Skyward Sword does not belong on this list at all, it's by far the worst port Nintendo have put on the Switch from their old library of games.

I got this thinking "yeah sure buttons might be better"... nah this game is a janky mess no matter how you play it.

Dying Light is probably the best game on this list by a country mile.

Re: Hades Is The First Game To Win A Hugo Award

Gamer_Zeus

This is by far one of the greatest games ever made this generation be it Indie or otherwise, and it deserves all the awards and praise it gets and more.

This along with Hollow Knight and Dead Cells are of a similar calibre.

Re: Metroid Dread Crowned #1 In TIME's 'Best Games Of 2021'

Gamer_Zeus

@NWC the buck stops with Super Metroid as far as 2D Metroid are concerned.

People here unfortunately suffer from absolute blind loyalty no matter what, Nintendo could develop and release a game that has you sitting there watching paint dry for hours upon hours and people on this very website would praise the game and vehemently attack anyone who tries to say "this game is a waste of money".

It doesn't matter how substandard the game is or how devoid of content and shallow it may be. As long as Nintendo published it and it's a first party title. Then people here will die on their shields defending it.

It's actually ridiculous.

Re: Metroid Dread Crowned #1 In TIME's 'Best Games Of 2021'

Gamer_Zeus

@NWC i mean $10 is a bit of a stretch, it's clearly an upscaled 3DS game, so that should be $40 max. I would be hard pressed to justify even $40 though, $30 is closer the mark.

But fortunately i sold the game for $40 on Ebay so $20 for 18 hours isn't too bad at all.

Can't say I'll ever want to revisit the game again, it was terribly generic and mediocre compared with what Indie developers are doing in the Metroidvania genre today.

Re: Digital Foundry Gives Its Assessment Of Shin Megami Tensei V

Gamer_Zeus

I'm still on the fence with this game, I've heard nothing but good things but I'm not 100% into traditional JRPGs.

I played DQ11 and enjoyed it alot, Xenoblade was decent too but i get burned out quickly with the genre, i got those two games close to when they released and put around 130 hours into DQ and 80 hours into Xenoblade.

I dunno if i want another big JRPG game in the same veins but im not sure, i may grab it when it comes down in price next year.

Re: Metroid Dread Crowned #1 In TIME's 'Best Games Of 2021'

Gamer_Zeus

@Meteoroid i value both, the way i see it, a long story with a rich environment to explore isn't content padding.

It's content.

Like in Hollow Knight, you need to backtrack to get items with abilities you didn't have before, these items illuminate the story more and make for a more engaging experience.

I could turn this around on you and say "you spending money on Dread is the same as spending $10 per hour to sit at an arcade machine for 6 hours on a weekend".

There is a reason why arcades are dead and it isn't because you get the games at home now, it's because value for money just isn't there.

But im not going to judge you for how you waste your money.

Re: Metroid Dread Crowned #1 In TIME's 'Best Games Of 2021'

Gamer_Zeus

@Meteoroid i feel like if a game can be beaten in a weekend and it costs $60, thats awfully expensive for a game you can beat in 10 hours (the runtime is 7-10 hours), took me 10 hours to beat first time then 8 hours second time.

18 hours for a $60 game.

Value to everyone is different, i get that, but to me, i feel like $60 for an 18 hour gaming experience, no matter how good the game was, to me it was robbery.

I genuinely feel like i was fleeced, you might think it was worth it and good for you, i think it was one of the biggest waste of money i ever purchased on the Switch.

Also i don't think it was anywhere near as good as many Indie games in the same genre. Both Ori and Hollow Knight are miles better than Dread.

Re: Don't Worry, Zelda: BOTW 2 Is Reportedly Still Aiming To Launch Next Year

Gamer_Zeus

@rjejr i think it probably has a lot to do with timing, i agree that 5 years for a game that is clearly using the same assets as the original is definitely lazy.

100% true. But i think it is a timing thing, would BOTW 2 have given them additional sales if they released it a year ago? Who knows.

But think about this, normally Nintendo releases Zelda games as a cross platform with their last console. So with that in mind, would BOTW 2 drive sales for Nintendo's next console if it a cross platform. More than likely yes.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Games Of 2021

Gamer_Zeus

Not really a fan of Metroid Dread so i can't say i agree with the first one, i found it to be ridiculously over priced for such a short game, i even completed it twice. Just didn't feel like i got my money's worth at all, like i got fleeced.

I would put Rise in second and i would bring SMT V up a few places but i would largely leave the rest as they are except Dread.

I would drop Dread down between 40-50, i really feel strongly about how underwhelming that game was, so much hype for a game that took a weekend to finish was simply not cool.

Re: Five Sega Genesis Games Have Been Added To Nintendo Switch Online's Expansion Pack

Gamer_Zeus

@Themagusx1 you haven't presented a coherent argument against anything i have just said, just a bunch of rambling mess.

Its okay though I'm not really bothered, the truth is evident, the service is very unpopular and you are a minority.

You can try and pretend all you want but it's very clear that you are grasping at any straw available to you, in a lame attempt to justify your purchase.

Nintendo didn't release a monthly update to the original NSO because despite its detractors, it was actually popular, all evidence here points to the contrary, but you can pretend otherwise.

I know you are a child, it's obviously by your incoherent argument, but you should relax a bit kid, its just a game.

Re: Five Sega Genesis Games Have Been Added To Nintendo Switch Online's Expansion Pack

Gamer_Zeus

@Themagusx1 you seem so butt hurt.

Here let me simplify it for your adolescent mind to understand.

If the service was actually successful, if people where actually signing up to it.

Why would they add so much to it in such a short time span?

If everyone was signing up to the service, Nintendo wouldn't add anything until they felt like it.

Right now we are getting a new update every month...

Can you show me any evidence that it is doing well?

Re: Five Sega Genesis Games Have Been Added To Nintendo Switch Online's Expansion Pack

Gamer_Zeus

@SilentHunter382 the service is losing subscribers so Nintendo are throwing games and free trials in an attempt to win people back.

If the service was actually doing well Nintendo wouldn't pull out a Banjo release date so soon after releasing the expansion. Or adding 5 games out of nowhere to the Sega service. Or resetting free trials twice in one month to get people to sign up.

This is Nintendo's subtle way to say "please buy the service"..

Seems Nintendo are slowly starting to hear customers on this one.

Re: Soapbox: Sonic Frontiers' Open World Has The Potential To Deliver On An Old Promise

Gamer_Zeus

The problem with Sonic in general is it translates well into a 2D platformer but the moment you try and make the game 3D, the whole "go super fast" aspect of it brings the game down.

Now this is all new for Sonic, the Open World shtick. Depending on what they do with it, it might work.

But i mean, can you imagine Zelda rolling around at breakneck speeds? It'd have ruined the game outright, the setting and the environment just wouldn't mesh well with some Flash Gordon type abilities.

For this to work will they need to rewrite Sonic as a normal hedgehog, with no super human speed? Is that the only way this will work out? Would this even be an issue if they ignored it or will ignoring it turn out to be the folly of the game?

One thing is for certain, it definitely is Make Or Break for Team Sonic.

Re: Nintendo Indie World Showcase To Air Tomorrow, 15th December

Gamer_Zeus

@ZeldaNX don't bet on it, I'm going to put money on the game being shelved for the time being, hence why the only news we got from the game in the entirety of 2021 was in May and that was to tell us that there will be no news on the game because it won't be at E3.

Personally my money is on the game being shelved for now.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo's Game Awards No-Show Proves It Simply Doesn't Need Anyone Else

Gamer_Zeus

@Meteoroid i think its a mixture of these two factors. Lets be realistic here, if everyone in the industry was singing praises for Nintendo's games in 2021, Nintendo would have shown up.

They would prepare something to show, if they knew that the majority at the event wanted to see Nintendo, they would've obliged.

No company denies the spotlight when its on their successes, but this wasn't the case, even if it probably should have been more than it was and certainly at least more so than any other company currently, with both Sony and Microsoft still reeling from the pandemic.

But the fact that Nintendo marches to the beat of its own drum irks many big wigs in the industry who hate that Nintendo is able to garner so much success without 60% of the biggest developers even working with them.

The fact is, Nintendo games have sold better than any other platform this year, both in terms of 3rd parties who've put their games on the Switch (MonHun Rise, SMT V) and Nintendo own 1st party games.

This fact alone irks many in the industry who have long disliked Nintendo's approach, if you want to get an idea of how much the industry dislikes Nintendo's approach, you only need to look at how the majority of developers and journalists wrote Nintendo off during the Wii U years and many called for them to go the way of Sega.

Nintendo will never really get the recognition it deserves because those who hand recognition dislike Nintendo

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo's Game Awards No-Show Proves It Simply Doesn't Need Anyone Else

Gamer_Zeus

I personally think its sour grapes from Nintendo, from their perspective they probably think they deserved a bit more recognition for what they did in 2021.

In my opinion MH Rise barely getting any mentions for any awards is just criminal and SMT V also not getting much in the way of awards while Dread picked up a handful and my guess is they expected Dread to grab the big Goty award for 2021.

To sum it up, Nintendo from their perspective probably think they showed up in 2021 and that was largely unmentioned.

Which is actually true especially when you look at sales figures, but that could also come down to how the industry generally feels about Nintendo marching to the beat of their own drum.

Re: Nintendo Switch Led US NPD Sales For November And Thanksgiving Week

Gamer_Zeus

@progx i mean it already has tumbled into a distant second in the region. But to be fair to them, it was never really Sony's intention to move away from Japan but it was a side effect of trying to cater to our market and theirs.

The Japanese gaming market started shifting towards portability and ease of use rather than fidelity and visuals, which is where the Western market started to shift towards.

This all started with the PS3 actually but was expedited when smart phones became big and there was a huge shift in the Eastern markets towards portability.

Edit: having said all that, if Sony actually tried to make the Vita work, then they wouldn't have been pushed to irrelevance in their own home market.

Re: Nintendo Switch Led US NPD Sales For November And Thanksgiving Week

Gamer_Zeus

This situation could not have worked out better for Nintendo, Sony have been in trouble for a good while now unfortunately.

It all started when Nintendo decided to release the Switch mid way into the PS4's life cycle and effectively cannibalise its sales, then Sony in an attempt to repay Nintendo, announced their new console around October 2019 for a 2020 release.

Unfortunately fate had other plans for Sony and hit everyone with a huge Pandemic sized fist.

This isn't even to mention that Sony have basically lost 80% of the market they had in Japan and it has nothing to do with the pandemic.

Re: Edge Of Eternity - Cloud Version Launches On Nintendo Switch February 2022

Gamer_Zeus

I would like to see figures for cloud based games on the Switch. I don't like them either but people have to be buying them somewhere because why would developers keep putting them on?

I mean surely if there was no money to be made, word would have gotten around among developers that the Switch isn't a good place for cloud games, that obviously hasn't happened.

Re: Poll: Paper Mario Is Out Now On Nintendo Switch Online, Will You Be Playing It?

Gamer_Zeus

@JaxonH kind of ridiculous for you to call me ignorant for not wanting to share an online subscription with a bunch of strangers online.

You seem to be a bit ignorant yourself if you think that advising people to find strangers online to share a family subscription with is sound advice.

I'm quite shocked that the moderating team here would allow you to make such a ridiculous suggestion.

Re: Poll: Paper Mario Is Out Now On Nintendo Switch Online, Will You Be Playing It?

Gamer_Zeus

@JaxonH "it's not sweat off my back, I'm just going to sit and write 5 paragraphs about how easy it is to find random people online to share a Nintendo Online subscription with and how you should stupidly share bank account details with them also".

Okay bub, i will do as i please, I'll also let you do as you please and go beg people you don't know for a subscription that costs you less than 5 dollars a month.

The fact that you did it proves that you will find any goof gullible enough to share this kind of stuff with people they don't know online.

I wouldn’t give anyone here my email address, let alone sign up in a subscription and take card details for payments.

Also what are the rules on suggesting people share a membership with others on this website, are you suggesting i give my bank details to people on the Internet for a NSO subscription, how legal is that?

Re: Poll: Paper Mario Is Out Now On Nintendo Switch Online, Will You Be Playing It?

Gamer_Zeus

@JaxonH thats a very particular thing and thats a bit far fetched to expect everyone to do the same thing, this site is a very small place in the grand scheme of things and im not about to bundle my lot up with some randoms over the web.

You want to do that, thats on you, personally id like to know the people id sign up with.

Anyway you can act like its some easy process to willy nilly find 8 other Switch users but you're living in a fantasy land if you think thats just some common thing people do.
