I'm not expecting anything big, i got Brilliant Diamond and it was rather lacklustre, it was the first pokemon game I've played since Pokemon Pearl so i wanted to give it a chance.
I just think though, with how low effort the series has been and how little time this game has been in development (about 2 years?) - i wouldn't expect much.
I'm thinking this game will be a low effort open world version of what we have at the moment, akin to Sword/Shield with some extra features which may turn out to be pointless.
This will be nothing like BOTW, these are the same clowns that made Sword and Shield, which everyone was CONVINCED was going to be Pokemon BOTW... it wasn't, and neither is this.
It'll sell like crazy because Pokemon but it'll be low effort junk because its Pokemon. People need to get use to this fact now.
@AstroTheGamosian i wouldn't rely on those "official" 3DS sales figures as Nintendo stopped releasing figures for the 3DS some 6 months before they discontinued it.
Also when Nintendo discontinued, the sales went through the roof, being on Amazon best sellers list for nearly a month.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the actual sales for the 3DS are really closer to 80 million.
Switch is still higher but just saying, don't rely on those figures too much.
@iLikeUrAttitude Its not a bank breaker for him, definitely.
But 300k isn't pocket change to anyone. That's still a lot of money.
Though i would imagine he get them for a bit cheaper, not sure how much per console if you buy 1000, im guessing he still paid around 250k still though.
Only game i own from Square is DQ11, everything else they have put on the Switch has been generic dribble and this looks like more generic dribble.
Octopath and Bravely both look like generic games you can make yourself from one of those old create your own RPG dev kits. This looks more of the same except it has a basketball name.
@Juga Astral Chain is decent. Not too sure about the others, never touched them.
Astral Chain looks really good though, the realistic cell shaded graphics gives the game a very cool unique comic book style which makes the game definitely worth half the price just for the style.
Missing quite a few games here, especially Xenoblade and DQ11 which is just silly considering how freaking huge DQ11 is when you access all the locations.
Witcher 3 is the best game here, followed by Skyrim then Breath Of The Wild.
@MaxiPareja i once played Fartnite, just walking around getting to grips with the game, i saw a dude in the distance so i walked over to him, on my way over, a f*ucking dungeon appeared around me and i was suddenly his prisoner.
I loved this game growing up, one of my favourites, I'm interested to see how they have "remastered" it because those graphics were rough even at the time, fortunately good graphics back then didn't mean it was a good game.
Surprised to see BOTW at the very top, it's one of my favourite games and if it was a western list i would totally get it.
But as it's in Japan, i fully expected a big JRPG to take top spot, although the majority of everything else seems to be JRPG games so that makes sense.
But even so, this game was my 2021 GOTY - put 300 hours into, done everything there is to do outside of a few really rare talismans.
I go back every month to 6 weeks to catch up on updates and new Apex Hunts if there are any, they gave us a stronger Magnamalo for Christmas which was nice.
This game to me is a top 5 must own games on the Switch.
@BloodNinja Dark Souls Trilogy would have been on Switch if Dark Souls Remastered actually sold well.
But unfortunately it seems that it didn't, at least not to begin with, i don't know about sales now but i know that sales at the start were hampered by some bad sound bugs and terrible frame rates, game got patched but much like The Outer Worlds, if a game releases broken, it'll stump the sales of the game permanently.
So i doubt we'll see anymore FromSoft games on the Switch.
The very fact that Ocarina's re-release on the 3DS was rated as one of the best games on the 3DS and even sold almost as many copies as the original is proof that the game isn't just "rose tinted glasses good"... the game holds up.
That being said, i do agree with this list because Botw is easily the best of the bunch.
Going to be honest here, if this game ever came to the west then it would get an entirely new narrative which will ruin the game, because the story originally was so dark and twisted.
You wouldn't be able to put that stuff in video games anymore, which is sad but true.
@NEStalgia i guess so yeah, seems they failed the game themselves. But i don't care anyway, it doesn't look like something i would be interested in at all.
Dark Souls
Or Souls Calibur or a new Naruto game, how about a One Piece game.
We get Bandai Namco's shovelware and DBZ games, outside of DBZ, they've given us dribble.
But obviously many people like yourself are content with second rate games, you know they are publishing Eldan Ring right? Maybe it would be nice if they gave us some other Dark Souls games finally.
Oh and if Bandai told FromSoft to make more Switch games, FromSoft would make more Switch games, so don't try pulling that lame excuse.
Outside of their lack of effort, i have no other issues with Bandai.
Don't really care about this game but if i did care, i would pay 1/3rd the price and buy it on mobile.
Seems kinda ridiculous to not market the game properly before releasing the game on gaming hardware then to release the game on mobile for 1/3rd the cost.
Then they are talking about how "if you want a sequel we need you to buy our game".
@YANDMAN and do you realise that timing for release is everything? Or do you always have a rudimentary understanding of how business works?
This game has been available on potato laptops for over 2 years now and at a fraction of the cost.
Do you seriously believe anyone is going to bother paying anything more than $10 for this game? In fact, think about this seriously, has anyone even cared about a wrestling game being on the Switch?
Of all the games that Switch owners have requested, wrestling games have been the least requested, so where is the market for this game?
Like i said, timing is everything and you seem to have a rudimentary understanding of how business works.
I don't understand why they are bothering, game was originally released in October 2019 on PC and it was a so-so game, nothing special, if it was released on the Switch to begin with then it probably would have sold a lot better but the game has been available on potato level laptops for more than 2 years now. (You can literally run this game with a 2010s laptop just fine)
I wish the developers the best of luck on this, i hope it does well but the timing of the release (2+ years late for an arcade indie game) and even missing the Holiday sales period doesn't fill me with confidence.
@BrazillianCara or maybe graphics that are better than 10+ year old 360 era HD graphics... which is where Pokemon has been stuck on for years.
Edit: sorry i just think that a company that makes video games as big as Pokemon in 2021 should have the resources available to be able to provide games with better visual representation than what we use to get in the mid 00s.
People have been dreaming of a lot of different things you could do with the Pokemon franchise.
A big MMO type game.
Good graphics with a sprawling open world to explore.
Heck even a full Pokedex would be great.
Whatever people are hoping for, we know full well the companies behind this franchise won't make it happen. They seem to be in the business of giving bare minimum for maximum returns.
@Rosalinho lol i did the same, got it in 1997 when they lowered the price because it became painfully apparent to them during that first year that the PS1 was going to annihilate the N64 in sales figures.
When Nintendo realised that, any planned price wars went well and truly out the window
It's a bit embarrassing but unfortunately the UK has a very casual approach to video games in general. You don't meet many 30+ year old adults who still play video games, this is starting to change slowly but what it means is that teenagers and young adults will go crazy for FIFA and COD.
Im mostly looking to BOTW 2, Eldan Ring and the MH Rise expansion but this is definitely on the list too, not as much as the others but I'm still looking forward to it.
@BongoBongo wouldn't that mske your point about the games being 30 hours for two play throughs totally wrong then? Considering you're suggesting it rounds to the nearest 5, which actually is not entirely true, it will tell you that you've been playing for 15 hours when you've actually been playing for 18 hours, which is obviously not the nearest 5. Like it did for me.
Either that or i completed two full sessions of Dread in 7.5 hours each. Either way it's a lot less than your suggested 30 hours.

Re: Square Enix's Triangle Strategy Has Been Rated For Nintendo Switch
Oh good, we now have a release date for when the Random RPG Generator will be done generating this game.
Hard pass.
Re: Analyst Predicts 2024 Release Date For Next-Gen Nintendo Switch Successor
I'm going with September - November 2023.
2024 would be uncharacteristically long for Nintendo.
Also if it isn't backwards compatible with the Switch, I'll be moving on from Nintendo consoles, making the Switch my last console from the Big N.

Re: The Team Behind Bravely Default And Triangle Strategy Will Announce "Multiple" Games This Year
This is just ridiculous, these guys are definitely using some sort of generic JRPG generator app that just creates these pointless games.
These games are literally mobile phone games. Square is a joke at this point, I've purchased one of their games and that was DQ11.
Im not going to give them anything else because the lack of effort doesn't warrant it.

@ROBLOGNICK it's a shame nobody showed Nintendo then.
Re: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity's Development Was A Real Pain In The... Grass
Yeah when I'm hacking my way through hordes of enemy baddies, I'm always so concerned about making sure every blade of grass is doing its own thing.
I'm not bothered by the shoddy frame rate and terrible gameplay as long as every blade of grass has it's own independent script.
Good thing to know that developers are putting their focus in the right places 🤨...

Re: GoldenEye 007 Is Getting A Digital Release, But Not On A Nintendo Console
Its okay because i played this on my OG N64 the other week just for nostalgia reasons.
5 mins later i turned it off because as nostalgic as it is, the game is an absolute mess to play today.

I noped the f*ck outta that game quick.
Re: Shadow Man Remastered Appears To Be Releasing On Switch eShop Next Month

I'll get this day 1.
Re: Here Are Japan's Top 30 Best-Selling Switch eShop Games For 2021
There was so much noise about Metroid Dread that one would think it would have easily broken the top 10.
But as i predicted, the majority of people will not see value in a game that takes less than 10 hours to beat, has no replay value and costs $60.
When spending $60, people want more than a game you can beat on a single weekend, go figure.

Uhh no the highest game on this list is 11th place Mario 1 through 10 is mostly gift cards.
I'd hardly call that "dominant"

Your video must have gotten removed because it says unavailable.
I've played some shoddy indie games before. Genuinely don't remember the names of any of them though, they were that bad 😅
Re: Capcom Will Reveal More About Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak In Spring 2022
Im definitely ready for new content in the game.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Ports We'd Love To See In 2022
@Giancarlothomaz that has absolutely nothing to do with the Switch being unable to handle GTA Trilogy, those games were broken even on PC/PS5.
Rockstar messed that up. Getting some shoddy mobile development team to make the game.
Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Ports We'd Love To See In 2022
@BloodNinja Dark Souls Trilogy would have been on Switch if Dark Souls Remastered actually sold well.

Re: Free Switch Online Trials Are Available To My Nintendo Members (North America)
This must be the 3rd or 4th "free trial" NSO promo Nintendo have tried to flog in under 3 months.
This smells of desperation, the NSO expansion has clearly underperformed. Which is genuinely no surprise at all, judging by how unpopular it is.
Re: Soapbox: Nintendo Pocket Football Club Really Needs A Sequel On Switch
I'm not into football games too much, i like basketball and combat games more like UFC or Boxing (no good Boxing or UFC games on the Switch though).
Pass for me but hopefully it gets made, there is definitely a market for Football games.

Re: Video: We Have An EarthBound Conspiracy Theory
@somebread I've never played an RPG involving murder, drugs and genocide centered around children. Not sure what games you've been playing.
There is a very good reason why Nintendo won't touch this.
Re: Feature: Game Of The Year 2021 - Nintendo Life Staff Awards
Shoddy list, no SMT V, Rise is far too low. DLC isn't even a game.
Re: Video: We Have An EarthBound Conspiracy Theory
@7bbbbbbbbb sexual and violent content is different to what this game does.
Kids take hard drugs, turn evil and kill themselves when they learn what they became. Small example.
This won't be localised.
Re: Video: We Have An EarthBound Conspiracy Theory
@StarPoint it wasn't like them in 2006, let alone today.

@Bydlak yeah but unlike in the US and other countries, it hasn't stuck as much in the UK.
I have more friends in their 30s who do not own any consoles at all than friends who do.
Re: Action Arcade Wrestling Gets A Festive Trailer Ahead Of 2022 Switch Release
