Knuckles the Echidna will make his debut in the upcoming film Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and if you've got any concerns about how he'll be adapted to the big screen, there's no need to worry.

During an interview with Polygon, returning director Jeff Fowler revealed how the voice of Knuckles, Idris Elba, was equally as concerned about getting the famous Sega character "right" to ensure he ended up being the "best version".

"He [Idris] was just so eager to absorb it all, and workshop him [Knuckles] into [the] best version of the character. Which was awesome. It was great to see how much he cared about getting it right."

Jeff went as far as praising Elba's performance, noting how he “absolutely nailed it”. So there you go - there's no need to worry, Knuckles fans. Your favourite video game echidna is in safe hands.

In the same interview, Fowler also went into a bit of detail about what to expect when Sonic and Knuckles meet in the live-action for the first time - likening it to a face-off between Iron Man and Captain America from the Marvel series.

“You’ve got Sonic’s speed, you’ve got Knuckles’ super strength, and we just put them in an environment and let them go at it. It’s like a little Captain America [and] Iron Man; it just offers so much opportunity in terms of fight choreography and action.”
