The latest Dragon Ball game released on the Switch was 'Kakarot' - a video game retelling of Goku's story in the Dragon Ball Z anime series. If you're still not sure whether this would interest you or not, then why not give the newly available demo a try.
Yep, that's right - Bandai Namco has made a "free demo" of the Switch game available via Nintendo.com and the eShop. It's available worldwide, can be downloaded right now and is about 1.7 GB in size.
If you've not played this game yet, here's how we summed it up in our Nintendo Life review:
"Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot might not do much more than retelling the story of Dragon Ball, but it does that well enough that existing fans will find joy in exploring the world and fighting iconic villains from the franchise. Despite the lack of depth to its combat and a minor internet-based technical inconvenience to work around, the game saves itself by expanding on the already massive amount of Dragon Ball lore available and giving fans the slice-of-life moments we've so sorely needed. Non-fans won't find much to love here, but it's a more than serviceable retelling of an iconic story."

If you do enjoy the demo - the full game is currently on sale for $35.99/£29.99 instead of the usual price of $59.99/£49.99.

This is amazing! I was thinking about getting this on the switch last month, but was worried I wouldn't like it! I can finally see if its worth it!
@Snatcher Same! I've just gotten into the Z saga and was wanting to try out the game. Was waiting for a sale (which is happening right now) but this'll be a good way to try it out.
Why was "free demo" in quotes? Makes me slightly suspicious.
But I may try it despite the risks.
@FishyS No need to worry, that's just what they're calling it nowadays.
This game is the closest we'll ever get to a Legacy of Goku trilogy remake.
Thanks, downloading now. Anyone know how long it is? I never got the game b/c I read after Freeza it gets bad. Not that I expect the demo to be long but I'd rather fight Freeza than Cell or Buu.
As others have said, the demo’s been around for a while, and is pretty short, only giving you a brief taste in how the combat and exploration work, before pushing you to the eShop. That said, I found it enjoyable enough. Flying around on the Nimbus Cloud, exploring the map was probably the highlight for me, though it was dampened somewhat by the ridiculously high enemy encounter rate (seriously, why are there so many robots flying around this one area?). Everything else was decent enough.
“Goku fans” lol
@Blackrosewaifu9000 We've not covered the demo on the site until now, so I think this post still serves a purpose. I'm going to give it a go myself later today!
@FishyS With Nintendo you never know. They even think giving demos away is a present or something generous..
I really liked this game despite its problems. There's a lot of missed moments in the Cell and Buu arcs but my word they nailed re Sayian and Frieza arcs immaculately
It's not a bad game but there are better DBZ games out there, i think i prefer a more JRPG approach to combat when it comes to DBZ.
This demo has been live on the eShop for weeks.
Going to download it right now!
This is a quality Switch port.
Really impressed with how good it looks and runs.
I'm a sucker for quality Switch ports.
Lol I thought this “news” was about a new and different demo… this one has been available for ages… such a timely news! 😝
@Blackrosewaifu9000 Thank you. And that does sound rather short.
Tedious repetition on the go!
@Brady1138 Meh, I like it. Being able to explore the "world" of DBZ, including the cities, is nice. Besides, It's a decent take on the 4 (5 if you Include the Trunks DLC) different sagas with a lot more content than I expected.
